Chose Tigertail because we could book for just the family, they provided ear protection, padded seating on the boats and they have been operating for a long time. Bert was our guide and we couldn't have had a better time! One of our kids declared it "the best boat trip ever." Bert was super knowledgeable about the wildlife, environment and sustainability. Their team obviously cares for the wildlife and is working to rehabilitate a number of small animals that they have on an island for various reasons. One of our participants was a photographer. Captain Bert was an expert fan boat operator, lining up the wildlife shots as we went. Extra points for that. Our tour for 6 people was $450 before tip. I concur with all of the other positive reviewers. Tigertail Airboat Tours is where it's at! The last time I was in the Everglades, I booked a solo tour through Gator Park I found on Groupon. You get what you pay for! One thing to note is that the headphones to protect your ears are MUCH better and higher quality at Tigertails as compared to Gator Park Our family of 5 went on a private 1 hour tour with Tristan as our guide and it was wonderful. What I didn't like about Gator park was that it felt "touristy" and I didn't like how they were picking up the gators and it felt like it was all for show. Whereas at Tigertail, the animals that they have they are raising what seems to be sustainably, to free in the wild - except for those that can' be released for either their safety, or the safety of the Everglades they are releasing to. Tristan even explained that they do not feed any of the animals that they raise - as in yes they provide the food, but they provide it in a way that the animal needs to learn how to hunt - just as they would in the wild. The airboat rides are so fun, sometimes felt like we were drifting on the water! We saw plenty of nature and wildlife, and so many beautiful lily pads, some of which were starting to bloom. Tristan is a local native, and shared information about the local Native American tribe along with the environment. So glad that our first airboat tour was with Tigertail. I found them online and booked the longer tour for two of us. We were one of the first of the day and it ended up just being us with Humberto as our guide. We got so much quality time with Bert and we learned so much from him. He is super laid back and a well of knowledge regarding the ecosystem, plants, animals and history of the land. The experience was above and beyond what we were expecting. Riding around on the airboat is cool in itself, but you get to do so through the everglades, a one of a kind environment. Part of the longer tour includes a few stops to some of the Tigertail family islands. On one island there are a variety of animals they are working to rehabilitate. Bert told us about each one and we got to touch or hold some of them as well. It was super cool. The other island is where generations of the family had lived. We even got to see one of the island matriarchs, a 50+ year old gator. There were quite a few gator sightings and we got up close to see some of the cypress trees. The whole experience was just amazing. I highly recommend doing this if you are in Florida. We were staying in Miami, so it was a little bit of a drive, but we made it an adventure. Me and my brothers took the 2 hour tour today from Tristan and it was fantastic. We not only got to see the different parts of the Everglades but we also got to learn the some of the history of the Miccosukee tribe and visit the island that they rehabilitate local wildlife on. I highly recommend choosing this tour yes it might be a tad more expensive than the other tours out there but it is brilliant and very detailed. Thoroughly enjoyed our airboat ride with our driver/guide Alex. Our group included two adults, three kids and two infants. We all had a great time and felt very safe. Alex was very knowledgeable about the area, pointed out alligators, was very friendly and professional. We just finished the one hour airboat tour with Bert and it was absolutely awesome. The amount of knowledge, professionalism, and kindness was phenomenal. I loved it! This was my first airboat tour and I would definitely recommend it. I really liked it included the tour of the animal rehab center and learning about the ecology. Our family went to Tigertail's Airboat Tours this summer. I was a bit skeptical because there were several large tour companies around and Tigertail's seemed very small in comparison. There were even only a couple of cars parked out front. I can only say that we made the right choice! Our boat was small and it was actually only our family that was on our particular tour. We got so much attention and we're able to ask Burt many questions. We happened to see another airboat from another company that was jam packed. When I saw them, I looked at my husband and said, "I'm so glad that we chose this place." Also, the kids were able to hold small alligators and turtles. This was definitely a highlight of our trip. I was horrified by my experience with Tigertail. This is a business involved in animal cruelty. Our experience started out when our guide took us on a too-fast airboat ride during which our guide didn't stop once to point out any of the surroundings nor big birds that we zoomed past. We went to an island where animals they had captured from the surroundings (our guide told us this is how "their" animals were obtained) were caged in tiny enclosures and tanks. These creatures included 3 young alligators in a tank the size of a kiddie pool - they do not get out to larger enclosures according to our guide. The island's inhabitants also included a pig with an open wound on her nose, about the size of a silver dollar, to whom they fed stale bagels and cheap supermarket cookies right in front of us, saying "oh, she'll eat anything"...Our guide put this "meal" out near a gate where she grabbed the food, and then I noticed a piece of the gate had rusted off and left a jagged edge where she was rubbing her nose against to get food. I asked about the wound, and our guide's response was: "oh, guess she got a cut". This business has no regard for animal welfare; I am not an expert but given the blatant disregard for animal welfare I suspect not all aspects of this operation may are 100% legal. I find their practices deplorable and recommend a more reputable business - or better yet, everglades national park- where you can see the animals in the wild. read more

This was my first airboat so I don't have much to compare. It's was awesome, Burt was very knowledgeable about the animals they had and the efforts to get them back into the wild. He showed us their rescued animals which included alligators, snapper turtles, box turtles and a boar. We also got to hold Quasimodo their little hump back alligator that had previously been trapped in a small cage. My only complaint would be that I would like to have seen more alligators in the wild and a larger area of the swamp lands. Def recommend if you're into animal rehabilitation. Thanks Burt! read more

We got there late and the weather was looking bad, but even though they were getting ready to leave, Alex took us out and we had the greatest time! We were going to go another place, but they closed early. I am glad we found Tigertail right down the road. I would recommend them to everyone for a fun, informative trip. We saw plenty of gators and got to hold a small gator on a private island in the middle of the Everglades. It was awesome!
