We had chilly, overcast weather, so it was unclear if we would see any wildlife activity. We saw multiple gators, birds, and even a turtle along the way. Seeing them, without feeling as though we are harming or disrupting their existence, made me feel very good about our presence there.

It was late in the day and we had tried to do some Airboat Tours earlier in the week but we were traveling with our dog and they were not dog friendly. We decided to stop just to check and luckily for us, not only are they dog friendly but they were doing one last tour before the sunlight was gone. Our guide Fabian was awesome. He was super chill but informative and really did a great job. Especially considering that is was late in the day and he was only able to find one alligator. He definitely tried a lot of spots and it was clear that there would normally have been more wildlife to look as so even he seemed a bit disappointed but he definitely made the most of the birds and other wildlife that we did spot. There was a second alligator and even a baby gator when we arrived at the makeshift village stop that we watched swim in the water a bit. I really liked that Fabian was upfront about the fact that the "village" was just a replica for tourists and not really a relic. He also joked that he has a TV and it is nothing like how native people live today. We had a really nice time on the tour but it is incredibly loud and we spent some of the tour putting our headphones over our dogs ears to protect her from the sound. The office workers warned us about the noise though and they were so sweet they even offered to let her stay in the office with them while we took the tour. I definitely would not take her with us again if we did another tour, but only because I worried about her little ears. She did super well with everything else, including the gator being so close to us and getting on and off the boat. We spent well over $100 after tip on the tour for two people and a dog and it lasted about 45 minutes but I really feel like the experience was well worth the price and the employees here were just so friendly and kind. I highly recommend stopping here and taking a tour with this company.

Bert was our guide and we couldn't have had a better time! One of our kids declared it "the best boat trip ever." Bert was super knowledgeable about the wildlife, environment and sustainability. Their team obviously cares for the wildlife and is working to rehabilitate a number of small animals that they have on an island for various reasons. One of our participants was a photographer. Captain Bert was an expert fan boat operator, lining up the wildlife shots as we went. Extra points for that. Our tour for 6 people was $450 before tip. It was worth it as this was an absolute highlight of our trip!

We met three amazing alligators -- Cougar, her daughter, and Mr. Big Head -- plus a bunch of adorable babies! The Everglades were breathtaking, and the whole vibe was peaceful, exciting, and full of life. I felt completely safe and cared for the entire time. The experience was unforgettable -- beautiful scenery, great energy, and genuine people. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Florida!

This one of four Everglades visitor center entrances open every day 9am-5pm. Very informative visitir center. Exploring options include self directed hiking & biking. We chose the 2 hr. guided tour with a motorized, open-sided tram. Driver Carlos & guide Kelly were excellent (that will another review). Learned much about the varied landscapes-swamps, hammocks, limestone formations. Many bird species, lots of alligators, saw one of two resident crocodiles, turtles, deer. Also a stop at an observation tower. This is a vast expanse, 2400 sq miles, that deserves more than one day. We followed this up with a trip on the partially paved Loop Road through the Miccosukee tribal lands & their visitor cultural center. Thank you to the staff. It was a great adventure. Trail is paved, direct sunlight. In Jan saw over 60 gators a couple crocs. Took about 2.5 hrs with stopping to watch. Most national parks will allow you to access and pay earlier hours -- this park doesn't. This park gate opens at 8:30am, and creates a line that goes out into traffic, clearly only catering to people using the trams. We had to park on the Hwy and bike in, which was allowed but there was someone at the booth even at 730 to take money-- why not just open the parking lot early if someone is manning it anyway? To cater to the trams, which are very expensive. We were trying to enjoy watching some baby gators and the tram came up to about a foot behind us on our bikes to loudly scream over an intercom about the babies. Really takes away from the natural experience.

At times we went slow to check out the wildlife; other times we went fast! We saw plenty of birds and a couple of gators and a turtle in the wild (oh and some fish). After the airboat ride, we saw a quick "show" in which a man showed us the gators on land, a baby gator, tarantula, huge toad, and bird. He was pretty funny. There is a gift shop with the usual stuff (snacks, drinks, souvenirs). There are bathrooms. There is an area for hot foods like hotdogs but it wasn't operating other we went. What brought me here was I had to disembark a cruise ship in the morning but my flight wasn't until 4:19pm and so I took the excursion to kill some time and I have no regrets with this decision.

The airboat ride itself was okay. They obviously can't control what wildlife is out and about, so we only got to see one gator and a couple of blue herons. However the guide was informative and stopped the airboat every so often to explain things to us and tell us about the Everglades. The show after the ride was a little silly, in a very fun way. It was a mix of informative and farcicle. The I was chosen to "kiss" the toad. No stress...you don't actually touch the toad. FYI there is a gator pen behind the show, and if you happen to be there at feeding time, you'll get an entertaining show there as well. **You are however right next to the open water, where wild gators will come onto land hoping for a snack...do not feel as comfortable near a wild gator as you do from the opposite side of an enclosure**
