This is a fun taco place to stop in and grab a few tacos at! When I came for a late lunch I appreciated that everything was priced in "meals" so you knew you were getting enough food when you ordered. Two taco meal came with some tortilla chips, a soft drink and all the hot sauces you can try! I appreciated the option to pick the type of tortilla (corn or flour) for dietary needs and flex the toppings on each taco to your preferences. The tacos are long and skinny, which helps to spread out toppings and not have the toppings overflow your taco. The chips included were okay, nothing special but nice to have with your tacos. The hot sauce bar is fun - with a lot of lot of funny named sauces to try. The atmosphere was cool as well with lots of bright, large paintings on the walls in the store. The food came out really fast. I ordered three tacos, a side of rice and queso with chips, and a strawberry lemonade. The total was a little over $20. It sounds like a lot of food, but the portions were super small. The three tacos were tiny, I honestly felt like I could've eaten 10 more. The rice was really really hard, almost like it had been sitting out since Friday. It was dry and tough. The queso was okay but a little too salty. I finished everything and still was hungry. The strawberry lemonade was decent. It had a nice tart flavor, but it tasted like powdered lemonade instead of the fresh lemonade shown in the pictures. This was our first time at Tijuana Flats since the bankruptcy and sale of the company. The bottom line is the prices went up big time and the portion sizes came down. Overall the same Tex mex style fast food joint. We had a chicken bowl and dos tacos. Both served with a few chips and no salsa. The salsa is $3 extra. We decided to come here based on a strong recommendation from our neighbors and boy we are glad we did. It's fast, flavorful and inexpensive. This is a walk up and order spot so don't be expecting a 5 star restaurant. The service was friendly and helpful! The ambiance is nothing special but they do have a hot sauce bar if you're a lover of spice. The beef tacos were cheesy and hit the spot. This location is a always clean and they do a great job of social distancing. When we go there to eat in, we always see a lot of take out orders. They give you a ton of chips and the queso is tasty. Your food is made to order and completely customizable so you can get it just the way you like it. Try their weekend happy hour for great prices on some of their menu items. read more

The sign on the door and at the cash register clearly indicated that masks were required. Employees were wearing them, but there was a large party at the checkout (forever!) without masks. I mentioned to the counter employee how uncomfortable that made me, and she shrugged. I later spoke to the store manager, who said they can't do anything because there is no mask mandate in our county. I told her plenty of businesses have, and enforce, their own policies every day. I told the manager she was ill-informed, and called question to her leadership skills. We won't return - so they have lost customers. read more

Really good Mexican! Came in for lunch and enjoyed our meals. We ordered their chips and queso to start and then my wife had a chicken chimichanga, while I had the chicken quesadilla. The meals were ready and their chips and cheese dip were both really good. I'm used to Mexican where the chips are free, but it wasn't expensive for the chips and queso. The thing we didn't care for is that it's not a full service restaurant, which is what we were looking for. You place your order at the counter and they serve your drinks on the spot, then you find your seat and they bring out your meal when it's ready. The staff was nice and the meals didn't take long to come. They have a nice shaded outdoor seating area and the day we were there the breeze made it comfortable. Great spot for tacos. My wife and I paid a visit unknowingly on Taco Tuesday for lunch. Two oversize tacos, chips and a drink for less than $6. Great deal and tasty food. Order at the counter from the friendly folks and grab a table. Quite a selection of sauces on the back wall with only a handful possibly being lethal. I picked the most popular one that was sweet but not too much so and moderately warm. Our tacos were chock full of chicken, pork or beef (we picked a wide variety). They were freshly made and not overly messy. Two tacos was probably just a little too much for each of us but we pushed forward and managed to finished them off. I would probably skip the sour cream the next time I visit. I just had everything put on by default for this first go around. We will be back for lunch again the next time we are visiting. read more

Quite basic, bland and fast foodie feeling. My chicken burrito bowl had very little actual chicken. The chips had a fresh from the long term storage shelf feel and taste. I hoped it would be a bit more like Baja Fresh or similar... certainly not like it. On the positive side, the staff were very nice and polite. Great time, great experience. Came in here with my family for a late lunch and was greeted with a high energy staff celebrating a special "outrageous" day event in the restaurant. Great selection of food, especially the tacos. Also was surprised to find out about their $2 happy hour starting Friday afternoon and lasting all the way through Sunday (awesome!). Hot sauce selection is also huge (and delicious). Overall food was great, especially my burrito (which is grilled at the end, a touch I particularly appreciate) and my brother got the special monster taco (special event dish for the day) which was also great. This place is EVERYTHING!!! Me and the hubs took our four children here for dinner and it was nothing short of amazing...we all had different entrees, from kids menu items to philly cheese steak flutas and the flavors are to die for! Very reasonably priced and we all were extremely satisfied. The kids also had fun trying all the hot sauces at the hot sauce bar. I can't possibly give less than five stars to a place where I ate lunch four times in one week. I don't know what it is about Tijuana Flats. I live in southern California, and it's easy to find similar food there, yet whenever we plan a trip to visit family in this area, I spend weeks looking forward to my Tijuana Flats fix. Is it the perfect sweet tea? Is it the addictive queso? Is it the wimpy yet incredible "smack my sweet..." (hey, this is a family-friendly review) sauce that I put on everything, even the chips? Is it the awesome waitress who lovingly swaddled my bottle of sauce in layers of paper and plastic to give it the best chance of surviving the journey in my checked bag? (It did, and now has a place of honor in my fridge.) Is it the staff who constantly refill your drinks with a smile? Maybe it's the fact that Tijuana Flats, by catering to both carnivorous and meatless cravings, is a ray of sunshine to poor starving vegetarians like myself. Maybe it's the spinach and artichoke quesadilla--I never would have thought of that myself! Maybe it's the "power lite" options that let me eat here four times in a week and not gain 20 pounds. Maybe it's the variety--during that week, I never ate the same entree twice. Maybe it's the super reasonable prices. Hate to do this as I used to love this place, but have to be honest. I got the worst case of food poisoning that I have ever had from this place. Do not order any types of dressing. This place used to pump out some quality food, and I'm sure it still does. The only problem with "Fast" food, is that it can turn. If it's not properly managed, you will be eating it, as I did.
