My husband and I are from South Louisiana and it is very hard to impress us with food. With that being said, The Tiki Mojito went beyond impressing us. We ate upstairs in the restaurant where our server treated us like we were the only people in the place. From the appetizer to the main course, he explained each dish that we inquired about with such enthusiasm that we just had to choose his recommendations. We started with the clams and they did not disappoint. The complimentary garlic bread with minced black olive spread was the perfect thing to "sop up" the juice of the clams. My husband ordered the grouper topped with calamari and mashed potatoes and vegetables. I had the habenara shrimp and lobster. Both entrees were phenomenal!! They truly left us speechless as our mouths stayed too full to speak! We had the salted caramel flan and ice cream to finish off this incredible meal and it was the perfect way to end the night. This restaurant is very good. They do have lunch special everyday. With excellent choices that includes soup or salad and glass of wine or a drink. My favorites here is the Salmon with passion sauce and the octopus appetizer... Only thing that I'm not to happy about it, but lots of people like is the music is too loud, but that is normal for Latinos restaurants. No for me even being Latina too. It was relatively empty on a Sunday afternoon. Based on website pictures there might be more of a livelier ambiance Friday and Saturday nights. Nonetheless, the food was good but I'd say slightly overpriced upstairs. I'm not sure if they have different pricing and menu downstairs. The black beans were particularly bland but everything else was good. I was pleased to see they have Costa Rican (Central American dishes as well). The enormous drink specials are certainly overpriced and not necessarily strong enough to justify the price. $27 and $32 for the special drinks we ordered. Given there are so many fabulous Cuban restaurants in NJ, I wouldn't go out of my way to return to this restaurant given we were not offered lunch or brunch specials. I made reservations for lunch at 11am and when I arrived I was clearly the first one to arrive. I parked in their parking lot. When I walked in a guy lead me to the restaurant and Enrique was our server. My friend ordered the passion fruit mojito and he said it was ok. For our entrées I got the chicken and shrimp with mashed potatoes and vegetables. My friend got the empanadas and creole jumbo shrimp. I didn't try the empanadas but he said it was very good. My meal was pretty good and very filling. I had to take some home. He took some of his home too. Oh and the garlic bread they served with olive oil spread was tasty also. Fun place to spend a night out. Good mojitos and music. The staff are the best. From the bartenders to the security guards everyone is so accommodating and kind. Haven't tried the food but I'm sure it's good. They're under renovations on the first floor now so second floor has turned to the night club. It's always packed just FYI. Small but good vibe. Came here for dinner and I enjoyed this place. They had outdoor seating and more outside seating inside on the balconies. The food was pretty good and the drinks were good too. When the bill came back it was a little pricey but I didn't mind. They also include a tip already on the bill so pay attention because they don't tell you. And then when they bring your credit card back, it just shows where to tip more and doesn't show the tip was included on the paper you sign. They also have a bar/club area, which we didn't come here for that but we peaked inside. They had hookahs drinks and music, it seemed like fun. They also had valet parking, but we chose to park on the street since there were a few spots open. Oh and it seemed like most of the employees only spoke Spanish, but enough also speak English too. I came here on Friday night with my friend. It was such a great time. The music was great and the attention was phenomenal. I had the cheesesteak sandwich. It was really fresh and tasty. I went here with friends to celebrate our birthdays, I never got to taste the food because we filled up on appetizers and Mojitos. I'll have to come back another time to try the food. There's a large bar area downstairs on the first floor and the restaurant is upstairs. You enter the building from the small parking lot on the side. The restaurant is small and quaint, but let me tell you they have some really good Mojito's and the prices were more than reasonable, the drinks weren't watered down eitheer and you could actually feel the alcohol creep up on you, "Thank God for designated drivers!" I had 2 drinks and could have stopped after the first, I'm not really a big drinker, but I really enjoyed myself here, all it takes is good food (appetizers in this case), good drinks and great company and I'm a happy camper, it doesn't take much for me.
