I surprised my boyfriend with tickets for Tiki Time Bay Tours for his birthday and had a couple were friends with tag along as well. Whether you're a local or visiting San Diego this is a really fun activity on the weekend with yummy drinks and good vibes. Originally we were booked for a 10:30am tour that goes out to watch the sea lions out on the bay, unfortunately not enough people booked that one so it was cancelled. Even though our original plan was cancelled Tiki Time Tours went above and beyond to make sure we had a good experience and not only complimentary upgraded our tickets to a more expensive tour, they also gave our party a free round of drinks for the inconvenience! I think this speaks a lot about a company; anyone can be happy with customer service when everything goes according to plan, but the most important times to step up is when plans get cancelled/changed and that's exactly what they did for us! Instead of the sea lion tour we ended up doing the Tiki Live! tour at 3pm. This tour is about 2 hours and while you're out on the water you mingle with everyone else and play games that can win prizes for yourself, your party or the whole boat! The games were fun, interactive and silly. At some points we got close enough to shore and made people on land be a part of our games! Donny was our tiki tour master and he was really funny during the whole tour. In between games he just let the music play so we could enjoy the atmosphere and drinks. My entire group left with nothing but great things to say about the whole experience. My friend even won a free tour for another time so we will definitely be returning for more tiki fun. read more

Tickets were around $47 per person for a 2hr water tour around the Bay in a boat decorated in tiki decor. For tourist this tour is great with a ton of fun information about San Diego and stunning views in the water. Minimum 8 people on the boat or there may be cancellation of the tour. PAY ATTENTION TO DETAILS. The guide will have some friendly trivia for a chance to win good cash prices, free drinks, gift cards, etc I think that was pretty fun to include in while getting a tour. If you are sensitive to getting seasick, I would recommend a Dramamine beforehand. Although the boat was spacious, it still felt the wakes from the other boats and you can go rocking. In addition there were slow times of moving and turning. Or you can just chuck down a few drinks and feel numb to it all! They have a Tiki Bar with a drink menu (no food) to purchase from and if you bring snacks to eat - you can't eat it on the boat. Drinks were good but their "house" made shots were pretty good! We had a couple rounds of those while on tour - paid round by a passenger or a free shot in the house by the staff. The awkward but not so awkward would be mingling with other folks on the boat that you don't know. One of my friends kept interjecting with another party and while they seem to not mind I could tell they were being polite but if it were me I'd probs be annoyed if someone kept interjecting while I'm having a good time with my friends. Although we all got along and occasionally shared cheers with shots. Luckily the boat was near empty with just a few of us to have some space to do your thing. Our group was really looking forward to a fun tiki boat ride, but unfortunately the host made the experience extremely uncomfortable. His constant sarcasm came across as rude rather than funny. He called one of my friends a "dumb ass," assumed we were hungover simply because we weren't "vibing" with him, and repeatedly made comments that were inappropriate for a customer-facing environment. He also told our group a very personal and sexually inappropriate story about himself that absolutely did not belong in a professional setting. It was uncomfortable and completely unnecessary. On top of that, he wanted our card in hand before we could even ask questions about the menu. The way everything was handled felt more confrontational than welcoming. We came to relax, have fun, and enjoy the boat for a not be insulted, uncomfortable, or subjected to inappropriate personal stories. The boat itself could have been a great experience, but the host's behavior completely ruined it for our group. My friends and I had SUCH a blast doing this tiki boat experience together! It was easy to make reservations online ahead of time, reasonably priced per person. Most of their money is made through cocktails and tips. Finding parking in this part of town is a pain, so make sure to allot plenty of time for that. We went for my homie's bachelor party. There were about 4 other groups ranging from a big group to couples. Overall it was a blast! The views were alright but I think its the company and the hosting is what makes the trip memorable. We made it an effort to drink the boat dry and was successful! The tour guide was awesome and made sure to have everyone on board mingle so that by the end you knew everyone! Donny did a great job asking trivia questions, things about the boat and each other. Very high energy and there were A LOT of cash prizes given right out sometimes in the hundreds of dollars. I rented out the boat for my birthday celebration and I couldn't be happier with that decision! The crew was really sweet and accommodating - I was able to bring my own food/snacks and I could connect to the speaker system via bluetooth. I had so much fun, I forgot to take pictures most of the afternoon/evening! I really appreciated that the crew set up a game for everyone to get to know each other since I had multiple friend groups onboard. The winner got a drink ticket. I also appreciated that they highlighted the singing talent of one of my friends, while a few of my other friends and I had the chance to dance some hula for everyone. This was a good time(mainly because you're drunk) but 2 things to be aware of, one of which is very misleading. Based on their website, it looked like we would be cruising through San Diego bay. We were excited to go over to the USS Midway and under the Coronado bridge, as pictured / video on their website. But no, you cruise around liberty station and harbor island, both very boring with no great views. Very disappointing and misleading. The second was our 'host' his name was Mike. He was a cool kid but very very annoying. All he was talking about was the start of college football and the Dallas cowboys. Both of which, no one on our 28 person tour liked, yet he didn't get the picture and figure out his audience. The rambling on about it was annoying and every party was thinking he was wasting time (because he was telling us this in the pre-board process) Drinks were reasonable and the captain was great and the bartender gal was also amazing but the host was not that fun. I could even tell with the Bachelorette party and other large female birthday party they weren't about this guy. Experience, I was highly suggest especially for the price. Wish there was better views as advertised. Don't get Mike as your host unless you like college football and Dallas cowboys. read more

I took my girlfriend to San Diego from the Bay Area - initially we had booked the Laki's Liquid Lounge tour, but was notified that they had cancelled. We received an email with a few options to proceed with, and ultimately decided to request a different tour on the same day. For the inconvenience, they gave us our first round of drinks for free! In regards to the experience, it was something my girlfriend and I will remember forever! For people who aren't familiar with the San Diego area, we were able to learn a few facts, appreciate its beauty, and have the time of our lives.
