Tried the strawberry milkshake, Nutella hot chocolate, and French crepe with an apple crumble inspired topping called pomme pilot, one of Demetres favorites. By far the strawberry milkshake was the best I've ever had; the balance of tartness and sweetness with the fresh strawberries was the best! The Nutella hot chocolate was also delicious, and came with a roasted marshmallow, and had a lighter sweetness which complemented the French crepe well! The French crepe tasted really good on its own, and their ice cream seemed to be made in house with a lighter sweetness as well to work with all the toppings. It's not often I come across a dessert cafe that's so well thought out. Kudos!

It does make you feel good to sit here. The vegan options that we care about for the last decade have actually changed a bit. Disappointing. Took overseas family this time. Many different options were selected by family. They did like it. The portions are big and some of them are suitable to be shared. The vegan Takes Two to Tango comes with mango sorbet. It was OK but not great. Missed the earlier options. Comes topped with strawberry and banana. While many options are available for ice creams and even whipped cream - none are available at DD.

It was about time Bramalea got a Starbucks INSIDE the mall though. It's just super convenient. We lost this convenience when they got rid of Target. RIP Target :(, I didn't realize what I had until they took you away. Anyways, this location is super modern, not too big and with limited seating. I came in Saturday morning and they had a trainee on cash. The barista training him apologized and explained they were just doing some training. I totally didn't mind and they were in no way inconveniencing me. I was once on that end! So I fully understand. Both the trainee and trainer were super nice. They always ask your name, even if you're the only one in line. The barista making my drink was even more friendlier! She gave me a heads up "I got a tall blonde latte coming up for Sam!" Thank you! Even as I was waiting on the side, she asked if I had a busy weekend ahead and etc etc. I thought that was such a nice touch. Even with the busyness going on behind the counter, she still made an effort to strike up a convo. We talked all the way until she handed me my drink. I just thoroughly enjoy my experience in these kinds of establishments when everyone is so pleasant and friendly from beginning to end. It's so refreshing and makes my day. Oh and she nailed my drink. NO foam AT ALL :)

My rating is 3.5 stars. I'm rounding down. I am into happy hour menus. I find it a feat to figure out where all Pickle Barrel locations are in the greater Toronto area. I discovered this one at Bramalea City Centre when I used mall entrance 1 to get to a store. I made a mental note to check this eatery out. I came here after work last Monday to try their happy hour menu. After doing a bit of shopping, I took the escalator down. This Pickle Barrel has a to-go counter if you'd like to grab some food and drinks. Otherwise, you can dine in, which is what I did last week. I got a friendly female staffer at the front. I was looking for a table for me. She asked me whether I wanted to be near a window. I was good with whatever was available. I ended up in a cheerful area by the bar with natural light coming in thanks to all the windows. I got a female staffer who worked at the bar. This eatery wasn't terribly busy at around 3:30 pm on a Monday afternoon. She was nice, but seemed to be handling all orders with maybe five tables with customers. I got these items: - Diet Coke - Steak frites with sautéed mushrooms I asked that my steak be cooked medium. She asked whether I wanted sautéed mushrooms. I said yes. My Diet Coke came out first. It had a lemon wedge. It was cold and yummy. It took a long time to get a drink refill. Sam was another staffer who took over from this woman's bar duties. It was only when he approached my table that I was able to ask for a refill. It wasn't the best communication-wise that a shift change had commenced. I was just happy to get a drink refill. My steak frites came out next. I was looking forward to having this meal. What was disappointing was cutting through the sirloin steak. It looked like it was well-done with my first cut. I tried again and it looked briefly medium-well in the centre, but well-done around it. It was dry such that I went into a coughing fit for a brief period. It did not help that I was running low on Diet Coke. This meal came with fries. They were fine. Nothing to write home about. They came with ketchup, which was nice. I loved the sautéed mushrooms. They provided some moisture that the steak needed. I didn't bother with dessert. I asked Sam for the bill. I paid at the table. I tipped and tapped. Done! I used the washroom before I left. It had good signage. The women's washroom was clean. Here's hoping that my experience wasn't the norm. I'd like to try other items off the menu and see whether I get a better experience next time. More than half the store space is devoted as a Portuguese goods grocery store, so the amount of baked goods is somewhat limited. But you know what, when the baked goods you do offer are selling at prices that would still be at a deal 20 years ago, you shoot up in ratings. Take a guess how much they charge for the fresh, jumbo-sized sugar donuts...50 cents! Think it's just cheap since it's a sugar donut? Well for the premium price of 75 cents you can get chocolate dipped, jelly-filled and others. Even apple turnovers and chocolate-filled croissants are just 75 cents too. There's a few other items and of course they're cranking out Portuguese buns like they're feeding the entire neighbourhood - which they might just be doing. And don't just think you're only getting inexpensive baked goods. Perhaps they may not be at the level of the highest "Boulangerie" downtown, but the quality is still fantastic. You are still getting quality alongside value. Honestly, the pricing doesn't even make sense, but bless all the staff and ownership of this place for doing what they do. Oh, and they're super-friendly too.
