We stopped at this bakery on our way to Montmorency falls. It was Sunday morning so only the owner…read more(?) was there and so there was no sandwiches or salads available yet. Space is quite large and it appears to have a viewing area to see bakers making the bread/pastries. It even has a large corner designated for kids to play in! We asked the owner if we could have some baguette with butter which he gladly obliged. He took a fresh baguette and sliced about half of it into diagonal pieces, put some butter on the side for us and let us have at it. We also had a cappuccino and latte - both were good. The baguette was nice and fresh, good for a bakery but it's hard to mess up a baguette. Towards the end, we tried a Choquette and that was really, really good. Really enjoyed the light crunchiness and the sweetness of the pastry. Perfect sweetness level and so crispy. I probably could have eaten a ton more if I had less self-control and had more money to spend. It probably pairs really well with a coffee. The owner was nice and only charged us 1$ for the half a baguette - I guess he planned on using the rest of it for other things during the day or just a really nice guy who knew we were tourists in the area based on our terrible French and his resorting to speaking to us in English. We did notice this place seems pretty well known to locals. Tons of people would come in looking for a specific loaf of bread or purchase a mass quantity of croissants at a time. One lady bought a bunch of pastries and let her kids to play in the kid's play area. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area if you need breakfast or an afternoon cappuccino or latte!

Patisserie Chouquette is the one spot in QC that truly rocked my world. I went three days in a row…read more(on my 4 day trip) and they were consistently amazing. It gets quite busy during the day, but they are always replenshing and baking fresh pastries and chouquettes. It is a cute, small cafe with seating, wifi, and water. There is no restroom. It is an open kitchen concept where you can see the staff making the pastries! You must try their choux/chouquettes! They rotate the flavors everyday. Here is everything I tried: 1) Choquette: I got a plain one for 50c, and it was light and airy with a nice sweet sprinkle of sugar on top. A great choquette. 2) Earl grey blueberry choquette: Same texture as the unfilled, but stuffed with a blueberry compote that adds a fresh tangy, tart flavor and an earl grey cream that is floral and fragrant. So delicious and the pairing of flavors worked well. 3) Chocolate raspberry choquette: This inside filling I liked less than (2), but still pretty good. The chocolate is rich and follows the same texture as the earl grey cream. The raspberry compote again is tart, fresh, and true raspberry. 4) Blueberry Scone: I enjoyed this. It is huge, and the edges are always the best part. A nice hard sturdy crust with a sprinkling of sugar. Nice blueberries throughout too! The only thing is that the middle is a bit too bready for my liking, but nothing major so I'd still recommend this item to try. 5) Chocolatine: It is a nice croissant, but nothing special in my opinion. The chocolate is nicely soft and melted though, which I appreciated since many chocolatine come with a cold hard chocolate rod inside. 6) Pistachio Strawberry Choquette: Another amazing bite, I love the pistachio cream though I wish there were more of it. The strawberry compote overpowered the pistachio cream, so there was too much strawberry too little pistachio 7) Iced Matcha: It comes unsweetened so you can ask them for either brown sugar or maple syrup. Honestly, I do not recommend the matcha. It was quite...not good..to be frank. 8) Iced Strawberry Matcha: This was not better. Still wouldn't recommend this.

Stunning interior design and pastries, I just wish the flavor held up the looks! I switched it up…read morefrom my usual choices and chose a strawberry sumac meringue pastry, as I had something similar in Montreal. Unfortunately the sumac was stale and lacked its punch, while the interior stewed strawberries tasted bland and out of season. Better luck next time I guess.
