I had a great breakfast the other day at this café. I ordered an iced latte with maple syrup and a key lime pie slice, and the key lime pie was so sweet and syrupy. I love key lime pie, and order it whenever it is available. This did not disappoint! The woman working the counter was very friendly and polite. This is a cute café when you're looking for a quick and easy meal. read more

There affogato was really good and so was their mochachino. We actually came back here a second time to get the affogato. The espresso was not overly bitter and the ice cream tasted of good quality. I recommend coming here if you want a good cup of Joe. They also have sandwiches and baked goods if you are craving for dessert. They close at 10pm so it's one of the few places that's open late. read more

Great little place for coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Grab a croissant or try one of their sandwiches as well. Neat space inside, but for an even cozier feel climb the narrow stairs and sit on the second floor looking out over the street. Friendly staff while we were there that was happy to let us practice our French but also happy to jump in and help you in English! read more

This cafe near downtown has great coffee and awesome grilled cheese sandwiches. They're served piping hot with plenty of gooey orange cheddar cheese. They could eat 3 in one sitting. Good vibe cafe, service is very good. It's usually counter service. They also have quiche, chicken pot pies, wraps, pastries.All good. Highly recommended. Only drawback is it's near a grungy area and creeps and bums do come in plus the bathroom is up a flight of stairs and you need a key. Typo: I could eat 3 grilled cheese in one sitting! read more

A small coffee shop located on the corner. But I did not come here for the coffee, I came for the breakfast sandwich (Sandwich Matin). Basically, it's a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese ... but served panini style. Excellent! In fact, I enjoyed it so much, I returned the next day. read more

This was near our hotel so we gave it a try. I had studied the menu for two days beforehand so we would be ready to order efficiently since we are a family of 6. Only problem is you don't order but choose from what has already been made and there are ppl in the queue standing in front of the case where the food is and employees don't seem overly interested in knowing what is in the case either. That being said, if you are not ordering actual food, and just ordering a beverage and pastry the food was pleasant enough and there is extra seating upstairs with comfortable atmosphere. Great coffee, but the almondine du chocolate is the superstar here. Easily the best pastry in town. Nab one before lunchtime, lest they sell out. The massive second floor offers a perfect spot to immerse in a long stretch of studying or laptop work. Here working remotely, I've been to most of the top-ranked cafes in town. It's this place that's become my regular spot. Many other top-ranked cafes have an untenable dearth of seating -- Cantook does offer an elevated brew, for example. but it's not a space conducive to lingering. Brûlerie Saint-Jean is deceptively small downstairs -- upstairs is a massive, lived-in, comfy area with seating for 60+, some power outlets here and there, and excellent Wifi that keeps you logged in forever. read more

No reviews in 2 years! I'll give one. My wife and I visiting Quebec City happened upon this unpretentious, but quality coffee shop near the Hilton where we were staying. My wife loved her Maple Latte and my flat-white was good as well. We decided to go back the next day, with a totally different set of employees, and we again had a great experience. My wife had the same Maple Latte and I had an Americano. So, in summary; good service (they were very nice), consistent crafting (e.g., my wife's drinks across different days/baristas), and some tasty coffee! I got a plain espresso shot, which was good, very intense and rich. My sister got a matcha frappe, which she said is one of the best matcha drinks she's ever had (better than Starbucks' matcha frappe which she thought was good). She later got a matcha latte and concluded that this coffee place has the best matcha drinks in the whole city (and possibly in the world). Chocolate croissant was good but, of course, nowhere near as good as Paillard's. Lots of tables and seating, especially on the 2nd floor, though a bit too much -- the space feels a bit cramped (although there were only a few customers). Plenty of outlets so it seem to be a good place for working. read more

Around 10 pm on a Saturday, Brulerie St. Jean was the perfect place to unwind after a long day of sight seeing around Quebec City. I was visiting with a friend from Rivière du Loup, but neither of us are very intense coffee drinkers. So we settled to share a huge slice of cake that was composed of layers of brownie, cheesecake, cookie crumbs, chocolate mousse and the essence of Jesus Christ himself (good stuff). For about six bucks, the cake was beyond worth it. In addition, the café has a second floor; nice and quiet. The shop also has many paintings from (presumably) local artists for sale. I had their hot cocoa here, which they added some cute latte art to! It's not sweet at all though, so come if you like your drinks from real coffee shops vs starbucks-like ones! The free wifi here is super fast, btw! And there is TONS of seating upstairs! read more

Upon arrival to beautiful Old Quebec and checking into our hotel, the first order of business was to find somewhere to relax over a good cup of coffee. A quick Yelp search revealed brûliere would be a good bet. We had a regular coffee, cappuccino and a palmier. The palmier was delish; buttery, crumbly and not too sticky sweet. I'm not sure how these things are supposed to taste but I thought this one was delightful. Drinks were good. Space doesn't have much seating but we were lucky to get a seat in the window. Catchy music playing adds to the character or the place which is relaxed. We plan to return! read more

Came here on a Tuesday morning for a quick to-go breakfast for our drive from Old Quebec to Toronto. This is a very convenient location right outside the old city and right before the highway. Naturally, there was a long line when I came in. There was one cashier and one other person preparing all the coffee. These girls moved pretty quickly and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The menu was in French... the staff and customers spoke in French... all the orders were placed in French... I don't speak French. So I was kinda getting nervous as the line was getting shorter. Thankfully, when it was my turn, the cashier spoke perfect English! Yessss. I ordered a hot chocolate, a mochaccino, chocolate croissant, and regular croissant. How delicious! Both drinks were great and not too hot (meaning you can drink it right away). Both croissants were light, fluffy, and super fresh. Wish I tried some of their other pastries! read more

Brulerie St Jean has been around since the mid 80's and let me tell you, there's a reason why they've been around for this long. I still remember going here to pick up some beans with my mother when I grew up in the neighborhood. As you walk in the smell of freshly roasted coffee beans just smacks you in the face. Amazing selection of fair trade coffee roasted on location, coffee making gadgets and of course, some amazing espresso. They even have a self serve station if the line up gets too busy. read more

Stopped by for a quick light brunch. Great little breakfast joint - more room upstairs. Local newspapers and tabloids (in French only). Delicious quiche, pastries and a small selection of sandwiches. Called into this lovely little coffee shop for emergency coffees (apparently café urgence is going to appear on the menu soon!). The staff were delightful and the barista knew what she was doing. Cafe Lattes all round! Well rounded coffee and the milk wasn't overheated so a nice experience tempted me to go back for a second round. Overcome with coffee goodness I was able to start my day! Stopped by here every morning for a latte during my stay in Quebec City. Friendly service and the espresso had a nice flavour with a deep golden crema. Taste and temperature was a little inconsistent which is why I gave it the 4 stars. Could have been the barista, humidity, freshness of the beans or all of the above. We stayed at the Hilton Quebec for nine days. With each morning a very short walk to Jean Brulee. Service was always good, baked goods fresh and the espresso drinks were beautifully crafted and delicious. They had two tip jars with a celebrity's photo that changed each day that you could vote for. George Clooney or Leonardo DeCapreol, I would have left the tip on the counter. I ordered the half rack of ribs, which was a mixed bag. The flavor was good, but several ribs were so burnt they were completely inedible--straight to the discard pile. They came with a well-dressed Caesar salad featuring seasoned croutons and delicious shaved bacon, plus sliced fried potatoes that were crispy and not greasy in the least. The thick layer of BBQ sauce wasn't quite my style--I'm a dry rub girl--but I was too hungry to care much. No photos because I devoured everything. My dining companion had a chicken sandwich she raved about. She ordered a Nordic spritz while I indulged in some Quebec cider. Honestly, I expected more pork options given the restaurant's name, but they fed us quickly and efficiently, which was exactly what we needed. No real complaints except for those burnt ribs. The interior has eclectic, cool-looking decor that's worth checking out. Our waitress provided quick and efficient service as well.

No nonsense Toboggan ride, line ups from the end of the line is about 45 mins. Each ticket is good…read morefor one ride / person. You will need two tickets to go down even on the same toboggan. They have about three to four times the number of toboggans to the number of lanes, so there is a constant stream going the whole time. It is a very iconic and speedy ride, definately enjoy if you are in town. If you are just walking by, just go for it, as they do close the ride based on weather conditions. They post updates on the store doors if there are any changes to regular operations. The walkways are slippery, this is the case for all of old Quebec, have the right boots on and take your time. Dragging the toboggan along the path up the ride is not too difficult, but again, watch your footing! Will do this again whenever we are in town and as soon as we can instead of waiting!

We thought it would be nice to grab a hot cocoa and sit indoors after the sun went down. We ordered at the counter and another server prepared our drink for us. We put extra cinnamon in it. Cocoa was decent if not outstanding. Since it was late, only a few people were doing the ride and we couldn't really see them go down from inside the little shack. Anyway, we got what we wanted -- a hot beverage indoors after being out in the cold.
