Within a few weeks damp started to appear in one bedroom and water started to leak through the ceiling of another bedroom to the point they had a bucket catching the water on the bedroom floor. Maintenance calls were logged via the website, email sent and phones calls made but no one replied or turned up for weeks then when a contractor turned up they said they couldn't do it and it was again a number of weeks until a temporary repair was done. By this time the bedrooms were both very damp with mould appearing on the walls and Brand Vaughen would not arrange for this to be cleaned or painted. Then after the girls moved out last term they were charged £700 for deep cleaning and painting of damp walls despite telling Brand Vaughen numerous times it needed to be cleaned and painted due to the leaks in the property. Also when the rent was sent short by mistake for a few hundred pounds all 4 parents that were guarantors when emailed with in 2hours of the mistake pity they couldn't respond this quick to faults and issues being reported. Brand Vaughen Student lettings just want to take the money and do as little as possible to help these youngsters being away from home. STAY AWAY

Having recently completed on a purchase through this "agency" the experience was a masterclass in how not to run a business. Information was wrong, late, or simply missing at every turn - details about the property, the chain, and basic progress updates that any competent agent should have at their fingertips. We repeatedly had to go back to our own solicitor to get the actual facts, because what came from the agent couldn't be relied on. Communication was patchy at best; chase them and you might get a reply eventually; don't chase, and you'll hear nothing. For an agency charging the fees they do, on a purchase this size, that's simply not good enough. We got there in the end, no thanks to them. If you're buying or selling in the Haywards Heath area, do yourself a favour and do not use this agent. The stress of a house purchase is bad enough without an incompetent agency adding to it through carelessness and poor service. Never again.

The gentlemen sorted everything so quickly, fulfilling the needs I had articulated, and not just trying to make a sale. I had been looking for a flat for a number of weeks, generally experiencing little joy. However, within ten minutes of sitting down, we were in the car going all over Brighton to look at countless flats. Despite seeing a number of places, none were suitable, and as such we parted ways. Despite his wasted efforts, he was friendly and provided advice for future flat hunting.

When the loo stopped working properly and we had to resort to flushing with a bucket, who was there for us, ah yes, ourselves. There were a series of such incidents some of which are ongoing, according to my now ex flatmate who is still a resident in the aforementioned flat, but like I said these are common traits of almost all rented accommodation in Brighton that I know of. When I came to leave the flat (handing my room over to another friend) there was the usual blundering about with paperwork and deposits but within two trips I had the necessary arrangements sorted and my deposit was wired to me within two days. Admittedly a stern hand and the usual bureaucratic approach to such people was beneficial to my cause but then like I said earlier that what I have come to expect with all Brighton estate agents.
