I have used this tour company twice once for myself and some friends and once for a visiting friends. On both occasions I booked the Loch Ness tour from a tourist shop just off Hunter's Square. Despite the early start in the morning, this 12 hour tour I found quite satisfying. Yes it is very tourist- orientated (they even take you to a penned up highland cow as well as a number of touristy gift shops along the way), but it was great fun, our guide was great and there were plenty of stops for a breather and toilet. If you are going to do this particular tour I would strongly suggest that you pack your own lunch instead of eating at the overpriced(and not very good) diner they take you and once you do get to Loch Ness, not to pay to go in to the ruins of the castle but to go straight on to the boat tour(you can see most of the castle from there anyway). As for the price, I thought it was very expensive despite the 2pounds off we got as students. The price does not include the boat tour of Loch Ness which is a bit annoying. However, as I mentioned earlier our guide was great and definitely gave us the most we could get from a tour such as this. Just make sure you set your alarm in the morning. The tour size is small(about 25 people bus) which is nice as well. read more

I've not done many of the touristy tours, but this trip has me taking a different approach. I took the 1 day highlands, Loch Ness tour. Due to some road work, we had to detour from the usual itinerary, but our guide Stephen took us on a fantastic scenic route. I highly recommend this tour out of Glasgow. The value is one of the best I've found. Not only did I end up getting to pet some highland cows and take a cruise out to Loch Ness (separate fee, but affordable), but the guide had a Scottish playlist set up for the trip that enhanced the experience. 10/10. Next trip, I will definitely take one of the 2 or 3 day tours. read more

We decided to use Timberbush for a day trip to see some of the castles outside of Edinburgh. The tour guide seemed knowledgeable, however the dialogue felt canned vs genuine. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, that being said, the description lists several castles that you'll see on the trip and that is quite misleading as we literally saw them as we passed by during the drive. We actually only stopped to visit 2 of the listed castles. That same scenario applied to one of the lochs that is mentioned on the tour. The lunch location was basically a gas station so the food was terrible, we ended up buying snacks at the attached convenience store as we couldn't stand to eat our lunch. What made this trip the most aggravating to us, however, was the large group of very rude tourists whom we traveled with. They were pushy, obnoxious, late to our return times as if the trip was only for them and by the time we returned, we were both so irritated that we canceled the 2nd day trip we had planned for another day. If you have the option to go by yourself or with a much smaller group, you'll not only enjoy it much more, you will also not despise humanity as we did at the end. read more

Stephen was great! Informative, friendly, funny, and above all a gentleman. He really had the tourists' hearts in mind. The only bad thing was the Indian families, they didn't listen, let their kids run up and down the aisle, and were constantly late getting back to the bus. They really ticked off the other tourists who were on the bus. They didn't give a damn. Stephen handled it with eloquence. I would have left them. You should really put something on there that states. If you're late you will be left. read more

No company is perfect, there was a fatal mistake on our honeymoon that let us without our tour bus. It was an honest mistake but there is a difference between other companies and Timberbush. If my wife and I ever are lucky enough to come back over to Europe, Timberbush will be the first company we contact. Worth giving them a chance since there are very few companies around with integrity and honest such as them. read more

We must have just been lucky. We had an amazing experience. Our guide was not only extremely personable, but incredibly knowledgeable. He gave lots of information about stops before we arrived so we had an idea of what to expect. He was very good with directions for us going into places where he would not be accompanying us. He had loads of stories and random this bits of info that were fascinating. He was funny without being harsh or condescending. He was accommodating with requests. The only thing we thought was off, was the timing at the castle. We had so much time to be there; the tours only run twice a day and it started shortly before we were supposed to meet back at the bus which meant we missed out on some information. It probably couldn't be helped and the guide was not at fault. read more

I was nervous to book this tour company for our tour since I had not found much to review online. I'm happy I took the risk because for the price - I would actually consider this tour better than the tour I took with rabbies. It was a great variety of driving vs. Stops. Countryside vs. Fun! My husband and I took the Outlander tour through Timberbush and it was great! Our guide, Gregor, was funny and knowledgeable. He played music related to the show and Scotland in general, and was quite laid-back. And he wore a kilt, which is always a plus in my book. LOL We had enough time in each location to really get a good look and have some fun. We did have to miss one stop -- the site of Leoch Castle -- because of traffic issues but the rest of the tour made up for it. We took a small tour, only sixteen people. The bus was newer, and had hookups to charge phones and whatnot. All in all I highly recommend Timberbush tours, especially the Outlander tour for fans of the books and show. read more

I went on the one day tour to Loch Ness and glencoe with some friends. There were three whole buses which was a lot bigger than I had expected. On my bus we were told that the tickets when we arrived for the Loch Ness and castle tours would be either 14/26 pounds depending on the tour you chose. However another bus paid their driver 13/18 (a huge difference for the more expensive tour, and a lot of us would have done it had we known). We tried to ask our guide if she was sure that was the price but when we went to the ticket stand, the student price was 13/19.80 and the adult price was 14/21. Some sort of strange commission deal was going on there for sure... The tour itself was a nice route, though I wished we had continued to Loch Ness rather than stopping for a lunch break at a cafeteria style restaurant owned by the same company as our coffee break. That's the nature of a touristy company though. There's a lot of folklore and music info on the bus, and the people I talked to on the other buses really loved their guides and experiences, although on my bus it was just so-so. If you don't have a better way to get out to all the historic locations or if you have a limited amount of time to get a lot done, a tour is a great way to go. However, I know of other companies with the same tour for similar prices so it would be worth it to check those out before booking. read more

My friend and I were visiting Scotland for about three days and this was definitely the highlight of our trip! Neither of us had ever been to Scotland before so we were very excited to do as much as we could. We did the one-day tour to Stirling Castle, Loch Lomond, and The Trossachs. Our tour guide Graeme was so knowledgeable and funny and kept us entertained the whole time. He even made "extra" stops at Doune Castle, different lochs on our way up into the Highlands, and to see the Highland Cows! Amazing tour and definitely worth the price! It was about 72 pounds for me and my friend together, which is awesome considering it was a whole day tour. Would definitely recommend this company to others! read more

We took the St. Andrews & The Fishing Villages of Fife tour with another couple. A great trip. Our tour guide "Billy" (William) was great. Great stories and proud of his heritage. After stopping at the Forth Bridges for some great pictures we were on our way to the fishing village of Anstruther for a much need cup of coffee. Then off to the highlight of the trip St. Andrews. The home of Golf was amazing and the town was great. Great little shops and some excellent fish and chips. Would recommend this trip as great start of a vacation. I had no problem booking the Loch Ness, Glencoe & The Highlands Tour a day before the trip. It was for a Saturday in the month of April. Our driver/tour guide was great and very knowledgeable. The bus was spacious and clean. We stopped enough times for quick photos, lunch, bathroom breaks, and snacks. Overall, I had a very pleasant experience, and I would highly recommend Timberbush Tours. If you are doing this specific tour, I highly recommend you pick the 30 min cruise+Urquhuart Castle instead of the 1 hour cruise. Even though it's a ruined castle, it's definitely a site worth seeing! read more

Such an amazing experience! Andy was our tour guide to take us all day throughout the highlands. We had such a great time and made friends that we will remember for a lifetime. Music is what brought us all together as people from throughout the world sang to the music provided by the tour guide. He played music relevant to where we were on the tour such as when we stopped and Loch Lomond he played Scottish songs about that Loch. Stuart was our guide to Loch Lomond, The Trossachs and Stirling Castle. He was fun, interesting and he clearly enjoys his job and country. He included music and stopped to lure the Highland Cattle close enough to feed. (They are amazing). We had a wonderful lunch at a pub and didn't feel rushed. I would have missed the cruise on Loch Lomond and taken the walk along it's banks, but otherwise this tour is well worth the money. Ask for Stuart, he's the best. read more

Fraud company avoid at any cost. The tour guide was really good and we had good time during the trip except at the end of the tour the coach broke down and the mess with the management started. They are fraud and not to be trusted. They are good at lying for few bucks. We took the tour to Oban, Glencoe, and the Highlands from Glasgow. A lot was covered in our 9 hour tour and Glencoe was absolutely spectacular. Our guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. His commentary and all of the extra little details definitely made the trip interesting and also made all of the time spent driving go by faster.
