They are fried, not freshly shucked though. The menu is very traditional like an old school diner place. I decided to get the oyster appetizer as well as the veal. I have not seen veal on a menu in quite long. The food was delicious and nicely executed. The oysters tasted fresh. You do get full from it due to them being fried. Best to share. The veal cutlet came with mashed potatoes and vegs. Huge portion with two cutlets. I could not finish the food which was a pity. I gave this place two stars due to the service which was pretty non existent. I could understand the place being short staffed. Only two servers. It was not packed though, maybe 1/3 full on an early weeknight. What I could not accept was the fact I saw our food sitting on the counter and none of the servers bothered to bring them to our table. The chef rang the bell several times. The chef made eye contact with me, so we were aware. I was in half mind to go get them myself. One server walked past it many times. I finally figured out it was because she was not our server and they probably worked on only serving their section. Our server was busy focusing on getting drinks to other customers. It was a good thing our food was not cold (still a bit warm) by then time we got them about 10-15 mins later. Then it was another gong show waiting to get the bill, and again to make payment. It took another 20-30 mins or longer just to end the meal. I just feel the focus is on regulars and serving alcoholic drinks. Some customers literally gave up and went to the counter to make payment, grab the menu etc. The service just marred the experience. Not a place I will visit again.

The patty was obviously a frozen 'facsimile of a burger' no flavour. The fries were decent. I ate 1/2 and took the other home and put it in the food compost bin. The washroom was filthy with a bloodied booger on the one urinal at face level and filth on the second, which god only knows what splattered on the walls around me. The door to the Men's didn't close thank goodness because it meant I didn't have to touch anything and wouldn't go near the filthy sinks. So I left without washing my hands. There were two of us an it took the server more than 5 minutes to come back between my guest and I to reset the machine to pay. NEVER AGAIN! If I could give it a zero star I would. Stay away. A filthy bathroom means a filthy kitchen! Sorry guys. Gross!

The selection at this store is quite incredible. You'll find local wines, Island spirits, craft…read morebeer, and a dizzying array of Scotch and other types of liquor. I found the staff to be quite knowledgeable about the products that they had available. If you're not sure, just look at the staff picks by name on the shelves, and ask that person for help. I was able to pickup a few great Scotches here that aren't typically available at BC Liquor stores.

Firstly, their prices are one of the more competetive compared to other beer and wine stores. The Windward Beer and Wine Store over by the hospital is considered one of the most expensive. Secondly, they go out of their way to get different and unique items and are more than willing to get something in for a customer. Their hours are very reasonable as well. Basically if you are in town and need to head to a Beer and Wine store than try to make your way here rather than some of the other ones nearby.

Then I met one of workers who helped me out and gave me a wealth of knowledge about everything from whiskey to sake. I wish I would've grabbed his name, but unfortunately I didn't. Although it is a bit pricier than the states, there were some pretty good sales going on. Plus the store is super organized and offers everything from local Canadian Staples like Molson Canadian beer, craft beer from local breweries, whiskey's and sake's and everything in between. Only downside is a bit lacking on the mixers. Highly recommend coming here.

Fours stars for a typically dull off-sales... Say what?…read more Well... I learned a valuable lesson over the weekend. That the little stores sometimes get stuck with "random" bottles of wine that they can't sell to their regulars. So there we were loading up from their limited selection of REAL ciders and we (OK, so it was Crystal H) noticed a 2005 Razer's Edge Shiraz sitting all alone on the shelf. Uh........ "Holy Sechelt", I yelped. The elusive '05 RE. That is an incredible bottle of wine that I searched out in Vancouver 4 years ago with very limited success. I miraculously found one in a BC liquor store and cellared it for three years. And when I finally opened it last year... well, lets just say there was some magic happening at the dinner table. Back to the lesson at Lighthouse. Of course I bought their lonely bottle. And it is likely that it's already peaked in taste. But who cares. What a find! Support the little guys, and you just never know what you may discover.
