I had an excess amount of unnecessary papers and files to shred (approx. 150 lbs) and I called around and found a great company called Time Shred to help me. They send a man right to your door and have a 96 gallon container (which holds up to 300lbs). I posted this on my "building link" and received over 5 replies. One of my neighbors had about the same amount of papers so we shared the expense (about $ 100.00 per person). They load your papers onto the truck and you watch on the monitor and witness it all being shred in about 10 minutes! They give you a certificate of completion at the end. This is the most inexpensive, hassle free and secure method of shredding in bulk, ( I researched many options before doing this). If you need their services call Megan, the Manager (she is very helpful) at 212-359-0643 , and she will walk you through the process and options. A great experience this morning. I understand that prices may have increased over time, but the way the situation was handled felt disappointing. When I spoke with the staff, the tone became dismissive. I asked to speak with the owner for clarification, but my call was never transferred. It truly saddens me to share this because I have had wonderful experiences with Time Shred in the past. I will not go into details but let me just say that this time around, I planned a lot better and chose them. What they basically do is work with a select group of movers in the area and then direct you to them. Liberty Group was the one who serviced my area so, that is who we went with. From day one they have made this process so smooth I almost could not believe it! Brian came out and did the inspection and he was very professional and gave me some peace of mind when he said that it was an easy move as we are moving from a two bedroom to one bedroom. Honestly I just wanted to get the hell out of my old neighborhood as fast as possible and was very anxious. Barbara at their office was very prompt with her responses and extremely helpful. Juan and his team who arrived the day of the move where absolutely excellent and I realized that this is because they really are professionals. They showed up an hour early which I greatly appreciated and only went over one hour but did not charge us for it so basically, what we where estimated and what we actually paid (around $940) was correct. This company saved me so much stress, you have no idea. I was stressing about this move since late November and when the day came, they made it so much easier and I cannot thank them enough. I HIGHLY recommend Liberty. They are true professionals and I will definitely use this company again.

This was the worst moving experience imaginable and feels like outright sabotage. After 2 previous moves through Ed Scott and besides acknowledging "never seeing anything like this", no accountability! United Van Lines crew intentionally and recklessly tampered with my personally sealed boxes - they cut them open, inserted heavy items like boxes and chairs at the bottom, then resealed them poorly. This caused catastrophic crushing and damage: over 16 garment boxes completely ruined, my wood credenza smashed (slate top shattered), leather bench badly scuffed, and virtually every item in the shipment damaged in some way. This wasn't accidental rough handling - it was purposeful interference with sealed personal property, violating my privacy and trust. They had no right to open or tamper with my sealed boxes. This conduct appears to breach federal transportation regulations criminal mischief under New Jersey law for - purposely or recklessly damaging/tampering with another's property. The financial and emotional toll has been enormous - thousands in ruined clothing, furniture, and irreplaceable items. Their claims process? A joke - $150 on almost $20K of damage that doesn't come close to covering the destruction they caused. Do NOT use Liberty/United Van Lines. They destroy belongings, invade privacy, and leave customers devastated.
