We attended the opening of the new restaurant, introduced by Director of the Powerhouse Museum, Craig Donarski in late 2017, but returned for a second visit (and certainly not the last). The Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre has opened a new restaurant called "Bellbird dining and bar" open 7 days a week from 10am - 3pm, offering seasonal dining and using farm fresh ingredients, the restaurant is promoting sustainability, seasoning their foods with an array of the plentiful herbs and vegetables from their own garden. At the opening, we sampled Hawkesbury River Oyster, Eco Farmed Pork, bruschetta and much more, with ingredients being sourced from their own garden or artisan suppliers from across NSW. Drinks were on offer from South Western Sydney Brewery; Stockade Brew CO. and wines from Artemis in the Southern Highlands. We were genuinely impressed by our restaurant visit on our return and we cannot speak highly enough of Bellbird Dining at the Casula Powerhouse Museum. The kitchen is run by two passionate chefs; Cordon Bleu trained Federico Rekowski and sous chef Steven Pham. We consider Bellbird to be a destination dining venue well worth a visit. With everything under $18, many of the ingredients used are sourced from their very own garden on site. At an amazing price combined with beautiful plating and an amazing display of technique makes for a truly special dining experience. This also evident in the feedback from fellow diners which we witness during our dine. Bellbird is hands down the best value menu in Sydney. The menu we sampled was super fresh, light and perfect for summer and there is also an extensive menu that caters to vegetarians. The South Coast Kingfish with gazpacho broth was an automatic pick for us on that hot summers day. A beautifully presented dish, a refined broth with a nice spice kick and summer flavour provided by fresh herbs, tomatoes and cucumber fresh from their own garden. Chef Pham's skill with seafood were learnt from his time at FishFace and clearly on display, with the prawn stuffed squid. This was a favourite, very flavoursome, also beautifully fresh, the flavours from the squid and prawns infusing nicely into the delicate clear broth, again fresh seasonal produce used in this dish. The zucchini flower had a synergy of flavours, with a noticeable crunch from crisp batter in contrast to the creamy goat cheese filling. Sweetness was provided from the balsamic, honey and beetroot gel, this combining nicely with earthy flavours fom pastel pink beetroot and sprinkle of walnut crumb. We loved the Gnocchi as a vegetarian option. The Gnocchi was light and fluffy, sauced with sage and nut butter, flavours further enhanced by roast fig, caramelised onion and shaved parmesan. You can order sides as well, and the fries were nice and crispy with a wasabi salsa. The desserts were just as impressive as the other meals on the menu. It was hard to choose between the mango sorbet and the olive oil cake. On this occasion the mango sorbet won out. The sorbet had a silky smooth mouth feel, the mango sphere served atop of a coconut gel and sprinkled with roasted white chocolate, which provided texture and a toasty flavour which was perfect o complement the sweetness of the sorbet. Bellbird is a must visit, a great restaurant with amazingly fresh produce, beautifully prepared and even better, the food is offered at a great price. Not only is this a great restaurant, it is situated in the Casula power house museum. With no admission fee, it is a great place to visit if on a budget. There is also a train station if you don't drive, and ample parking if you do. When we visited the powerhouse had some cool pop art exhibitions, along with a very interesting manga exhibition, and a display curated by Wendy Harmer. We appreciate the wonderful care and precision put into each dish and we look forward to returning to sample more of the menu!

Staff appear to be a mixture of diffident on a good day but usually rude and unhelpful,; over a nine month or more on and off relationship with this club, I have found it to be a club I would NEVER join and could not recommend to anyone! An early experience found myself and a clyb member waiting interminably and patiently while the lady on reception engaged in banter with a regular who she felt deserved much more time than any new entrants. later we attempted the Sunday all-you-can-eat smorgasbord and were shunted out early as the kitchen staff or service staff wanted to leave for home earlier than the advertised time for the service (no miscounts despite this, than you)! Now what used to be Bankstown Trotting Club have attempted to re-vamp themselves as Club Condell Park but I fear, only the name had changed.The word "vamp" is significant as their new carpeting looks as if it was purchase second hand frown a 1970's strip joint and on most days of the week, the club is so devoid of life, that it males a museum resemble a fun park! The staff are still surly and predominantly rude on reception giving any potential new member the feeling that they are a distinct inconvenience. As a member of Bankstown RSL Clun and Bankstown Sports Club, I can also unequivocally state that the beer prices are among the most expensive registered club prices in the area. If you like to laugh and maybe are learning what not to do as a marketing exercise, I recommend a trip to the "re-vamped" Club Condell Park. Otherwise may I respectfully recommend the excellent Bankstow RSL or Bankstown Sports Cluns, neither of which are paying me nore am I receinving any benefits from them other than those I peersoann;y pay for.

Walking into Warwick Farm racecourse, for the first time in my life I know what it would have been…read morelike to live in the early 1900s. Yes, it's obviously quite old but to be honest by the end of the day I'm quite smitten. Located in Sydney's busy west, even if you're a local you'll need to fight your way through the traffic to get there but once into the course itself there is a certain country feel to this small metropolitan track. Not as big as Rosehill or Randwick you feel up close and personal with the horses as they race by whilst you try locate the number on your beasts saddle cloth. If you're like me, it's usually one of the ones towards the end. There are enough food options to suffice, there are obviously enough places to place a bet and there is a nice relaxed feel to this day and place. Sure it's old and run down but I've enjoyed my day out at 'The Farm'. I'll be back!

Once inside, we waited a further 10 mins before anything would appear on the big screen! The movie started at 8.55pm. That is just UNACCEPTABLE!! Session started 35 minutes late. Plus I wonder what part of the cinema was actually cleaned. There were mountains of pop corn everywhere - on seats and on the floor! Surely 5 free tickets and a clean cinema is called for!

The cinemas it's self haven't been cleaned between sessions, so good luck finding a seat that isn't covered in popcorn and drinks. The seats themselves are old and had it, they rock back and forth and are covered in some questionable stains. Even the wooden bar dividers between sections are chipped away and looks gross. Ew The floors are absolutely sticky and are in desperate need for a steam clean or even recarpeting, your feet stick everywhere. Out side the cinemas in the actual cinema.... EVERYWHERE!!!! And the bathrooms, the smell as soon as you walk in its horrendous, it hits you full force and you literally have to hold your breath and this is female bathrooms. With the Lack of general cleaning, I will be avoiding this place until the step up their game. Oh and the price of the tickets and popcorn is highway robbery. Seriously $13 for a small popcorn and drink and $20+ for a ticket. Wow.
