My dog is an aggressive little shi-poo that has no problem taking a chunk out of you if she's not happy. We love her but we've never had good experiences at groomers until Timmies. I'm not sure how Crystal does it but my dog comes to me, not only happy, but with the most amazing haircut. We highly recommend this place for not only the grooming but also the selection of dog foods, treats, etc. They also have hygienists in to clean your dogs teeth, which is amazing. I'm still trying to process how something so negligent could have happened. We've been going to Timmie for probably a year now. While the staff working the front desk have always been kind, the groomer has admittedly never been the nicest. Nevertheless, they've been trimming Mojo's nails with the occasional teeth clean. Today I went in - Mojo was brought to the back and about 5 minutes in the woman working the cash area said "I'm going to get you to tap your card - the groomer wasn't able to get all of his nails today. I think he's nervous." I didn't think too much of it, although I was somewhat bummed that it didn't work out. A moment later I heard my dog crying and barking, while the groomer yelled "he is OUT OF CONTROL - I CANT DEAL WITH THIS DOG." I started to panic so I walked over to the dividing door between the storefront and grooming area, and asked what was going on. The groomer responded "YOUR DOG IS OUT OF CONTROL - HE NEEDS TO GO" and at this point the woman working the front of the store peaked over and noticed my dog was bleeding. She yelled back to the groomer and said "hey he's bleeding a lot" and the groomer responded "that's no surprise to me! He wouldn't stop moving." I had to stand there and reassure my dog so he could come out calmly, and that's when I noticed how much he was bleeding out of his two back paws. I grabbed my dog, walked him out in complete shock and as soon as we got outside and back onto the side walk, I watched my poor dog stand in pools of blood. I was completely hysterical - called my husband and sat with my dog in the park across the street trying cleaning his paws with paper towel. My husband - who arrived not even 10 minutes after this had happened - walked back to the store and it was closed (it was 3PM - the store doesn't close until 6.) He knocked on the door, called, and waited for a while, but eventually gave up. We've taken our dog to multiple groomers across Canada and this has never, ever happened. We will absolutely not be returning here - and given the other reviews I've read about knicks, cuts and negligent care, I don't recommend other pet owners do either. read more

I had been looking for a new dog groomer for my shorkie for abour a year, and although I've found some good ones it just didn't feel right until I came to Timmie. I was able to get an appointment on the day/time I wanted, which was about 2 weeks away. The staff were friendly and it was clear they knew what they were doing. When I came to pick up my pup I had to catch myself from squeeling with excitement. She looked amazing! She smelled so clean, her hair was so soft and it was clear the groomer paid close attention to detail with her cut. We got a toy and a homemade treat for our dog and I was shocked at how affordable the prices were. Some of the boutique dog shops can be quite expensive. If I can give a 0 star review I would. We took our dog to grooming this week and didn't expect him to get back injured. We noticed a big razor cut under his chin and around his neck. We were not told about the razor cut when we picked up him after the grooming. We were also not told of the possible razor cut prior to the grooming. When we reached out to the store at first they denied the cut, but when I sent the photos the owner responded and acknowledged the razor cut during the grooming but still didn't take responsibility for it. Our dog cried and screamed so much during the grooming (I happened to know when I went back the store to check out a product). Our dog has never cried and screamed this much during other grooming or during any other time. I was so curious and wondering why he did that. Now that I know it was because he was injured, in pain and looking for help. Our dog has become very gloomy and sad since he came back from the grooming at Timmie, and seeing the razor cut on his neck make us a dog owner so sad and helpless. I wish no other dog or dog owner will ever have to go through this, so I DON'T recommend Timmie to any dog owner who doesn't want their dog to get hurt. read more

Today, the owner of Timmie Doggie Outfitters lost control and YELLED at me, (his own customer), on the sidewalk in front of his shop! I am a resident of Leslieville, so I recently made a grooming appointment at Timmie Doggie Outfitters. It was for my small senior dog that has weak front legs. I told the receptionist about his legs when I initially booked the appointment. She said that she would remind the groomers to be extra gentle with his legs. When I showed up today, I was greeted by a groomer with an unfriendly demeanour. After I presented my dog and mentioned his weak legs, she told me that she would have trouble grooming his belly if she wouldn't be able to prop him up on his front legs. I told her not to prop him up on his front legs, then I asked her to find a way to groom him despite the fact that she couldn't position him in that way. Then she took my dog into the shop as I waved to him. My interaction with the groomer was unpleasant because I was warm and polite, while she was cold. However, she was nowhere near as unpleasant as the owner of Timmie Doggie Outfitters! After I left and started to walk home, the owner called me and told me that they would not be able to groom my dog because he cannot stand. On a side note, he can stand, but he can't walk. However, I understand that they likely would've needed him to stand for a long period of time, so that could've been a problem. Meanwhile, the owner was being rude to me over the phone from the moment I answered. His tone indicated that he was talking to a casual acquaintance that he had little regard for, rather than a customer that spent money at his store. He continued on by telling me that they could not groom my dog because his front legs are broken. That was a strange thing for him to say, seeing as how I would know if my dog's legs were broken! I became distressed because of the disrespectful way that he was talking to me, and the fact that my dog is in need of a thorough grooming that it became apparent he wasn't going to receive. I told the owner that the whole thing was "silly" and that I would be back momentarily to get my dog. The owner of Timmie Doggie Outfitters clearly had zero empathy for me based on the way that he treated me. If his team wasn't personally comfortable with grooming my dog, then he should've said so in a matter-of-fact and polite manner. I can speculate that they could've risen to the occasion and given him at least a partial grooming, (not everything would require that they stand him up). If there were in fact issues with that too, I would've understood but I wanted and deserved to be spoken to in a civil manner. When I showed up to the store, the owner brought my dog outside, and I put him in his stroller. I told the owner that I was a customer at his store, but that I would not be shopping there again. Then I started walking away, and he started yelling at me right there on the sidewalk in front of people! I yelled back that he should "grow up", (since his behaviour was extremely immature and inappropriate). He responded by childishly yelling "no, you grow up" as though he were in a dispute on a playground. Then I cried back at him telling him to stop yelling at me, but he refused and started screaming something about my dog. Thankfully, I was too far away to understand what he was saying at that point. I was shocked by his extremely unprofessional, juvenile and disrespectful behaviour! It was unacceptable on numerous levels. I spent the walk home crying while pushing the stroller. A woman that I passed by noticed and stopped to see if I was alright. She even offered to take me for coffee in case I wanted to talk. I really appreciated that! I would like to give a big thank you to that woman for her kindness, and a huge thumbs down to Timmie Doggie Outfitters. That was a horrible experience that left me feeling gross! read more

They have a good selection of carefully chosen dog treats, toys and accessories. They also do grooming in the back. As Paul*, the owner told me, their groomer is one of the top poodle groomers in the city. He showed me their grooming "salon" and it was neat, clean and well-equipped. He was very patient and well informed in response to my numerous questions. *I found out he was the owner by searching the Googler and finding him on Linkedin. NB Should really get 3.5 stars because it is rather small with a limited selection and they don't carry our preferred food, but I can see some people loving this place. read more

I took my dog in to get a simple nail clipping today, and my experience was uncomfortable at best. I can't speak to the toys in the store, but it is a lovely set up and a really cute little shop. I've been in here before but only recently discovered it's a groomers as well. So, I figured I'd give it a shot. The nail job was great, he was in and out in about 5 minutes and so far as I can tell his nails look great. My problem is with the customer service. It's never easy taking your dog to get any grooming done, especially when you're not in the room with them. The grooming room is downstairs (in what seems like a basement, but I didn't go down there, I'm not sure you're allowed). When I came in and said what I was there for, the man at the counter said "ok", came, took my dog's leash, and walked downstairs with him, never saying another word to me. No conversation to ease my nerves, no asking what my dog's name was, nothing. When the man came back up, he went back to the counter and continued to ignore me. Eventually I asked if I could pay, he rang me out, again, almost entirely in silence except for asking me to sign the receipt. When my dog came up, I didn't hear a "thank you" "hope you have a good day", etc from either the women who did his nails or the man behind the counter. The job itself was good, but when I'm leaving my dog in the care of strangers, it's important that I, and my dog feel put at ease and I truly felt anything but. read more

My pups first grooming appointment was fantastic. The staff here were so kind and informative, they explained what they were going to do to make Penny's first grooming experience a great one. When we came to pick her up she looked like a brand new puppy, her fur was soft, she smelled great and she was happy (and tired which means they let her run around and warm up to them and definitely didnt keep her chained or crated up! Note: this review is for Timmie as a retailer, not a groomer. I'm usually in Timmie once a month or so, to buy Acana dog food and treats for my two pooches. The service has always been great, and the people who work there are pretty knowledgeable about the products they carry. I also dig the selection of fashionable collars, leashes, and accessories because admittedly I am a vain person and I don't like my dog to wear the same webbed nylon collar/leash that the rest of the hoi polloi (hoi puppoi?) are wearing. ;) The stuff there is rather spendy, but the quality is good. Great selection of products at Timmie's and very friendly staff. My dog Frankie loves visiting the store and pulls toward the door every time we walk by, even if the store is closed. While I still like to visit the store for toys and other dog accessories (like their cute food/water dishes), I had one bad experience that left me hesitant to buy dog food from here. I have since received a sincere and heartfelt apology from the owner for the mishap, so I've removed the details of that incident from this review. Things you will find at Timmie: an eclectic variety of toys, clothes, food and treats, and other special canine things, a lot at generally decently prices. There are usually a couple loose dogs running around, and the place is usually punctuated by the smiling presence of Paul the store owner. Some stuff are different than what one may find in their Queen West location, but the stuff does rotate accordingly to the seasons (want a Christmas themed chicken squeeze toy?). This is a boutique pet store with some personality where many other area dog lovers may be found spending more time than they should. Things you will never find here: anything to do with cats. Of course not, duh! There is never any of this "sorry, maybe you will find her size in the kitty section" crap like I put up with in a big-box pet store. Which reminds me: if you have a small dog, like for example a Chihuahua, they may not have a tiny size if you're looking for clothing or a harness. Though they will make an effort to find something or have something special ordered for you. Which is a lot better than being told to find something where scratching posts are sold (absolutely impossible for a store that only focuses on dogs). I can't speak of their grooming services, but this is my neighborhood go-to place for high quality doggie treats. My bitch is hooked on those cute cookies at the counter, which is all that seems to matter to her about Timmie. read more

5 star customer service from Paul. I called frantically this afternoon for a groomers appointment as my mini golden doodle is covered in burrs (not very smart of him). Although Paul could not fit me in, he could tell how desperate I was and compiled a list of other groomers who could possibly help me out. On another note, I'm a huge fan of Timmie's and the Leslieville branch carries different items from the Queen West one. Both stores have a large variety of brands, designs and they are very well priced. Personally, I prefer the selection of accessories that Queen West carry, but to each his own. I find the clerks in the store to be very helpful when I'm trying to find a new catfood for my finicky beasts who seem to get bored with any given food within a month! Great store - in fact my dog pulls towards it when we walk by. Great selection of everything you'll need for a furry friend - I've purchased treats, toys, shampoo and they even have large size dog sweaters. Super friendly staff and happy to see they are also are great members of the community. Recently in December they had Santa photos for the dogs with all money going to charity. Great job!! I've also been very happy with their grooming - Tiffany is great and all the dogs love her. Timmie Doggie Outfitters is a fun little shop to bring your fur babies to. With lots of products and friendly staff, you can shop local and support a small business in your community. There's also one in the West end of town if you're out that way. Thanks to small businesses like Timmie's, this year I got the opportunity to get Santa pics with my dog which also raised funds for the Greenwood Dog Park Resurfacing Campaign. Don't go there! The person serving my husband was totally uninterested in helping him out. We were looking for a harness for our cat, and the person behind the counter was glum and rude, and couldn't be bothered to show him what products were suitable for a cat. He just dismissed my husband by pointing to a shelf with some harnesses, and then proceeded to ignore him. Seriously!!! **DISAPPOINTED** I meant to write this sooner but haven't been able to get around to it. Its been nagging me for a LONG time to get this review on Yelp. I had just moved close to Leslieville and was looking for a new groomer, so after reading the reviews about Timmie's, I decided they might be a great spot to take Casey, my pom-chi. Casey has anxiety when he gets groomed so I told them I was worried and the groomers ensured that they will take good care of him. I HAD a good vibe about this place so I left Casey there to get a haircut. My hubby and I were gone for lunch and were running approx 20 mins late. So I called Paul, the owner to let him know we will be a bit late and asked if Casey is doing ok? He said not a problem! And Casey is doing well! When we arrived to pick up Casey, Paul said yes he is ready and shows us the way where Casey is. Paul opens the door which is the WASHROOM and Casey comes walking out like as if he was crying and had this look on his face as if he was tortured! My heart just sunk! I felt so bad I took Casey here!! It felt like I made a really bad decision to take him here. Like WHAT THE HECK are you thinking??? You left my pooch in the washroom!! How could you do that! I noticed they have 4 cages that were empty so no other animals were around either. I was so FURIOUS. The groomer didnt seem to be around either, just the owner Paul. How can you put my dog in a room and close the door on him! You people are so HEARTLESS. Casey was probably confused why he was locked up in the washroom! THIS IS THE WORST PLACE EVER. I would NEVER come back and would NEVER recommend this place. If I could, I would give it No Stars, but I had to select 1 Star just to submit my review. read more

No rating. Brought our dog in Sun. May 12th. Groomer said our dog was too matted and we had to bring him to a vet to get groomed. Then she had the audacity to tell my wife that our dog needs to be brushed 3 times a day. Sorry our dog is 15 years old and can not stand being brushed. Seems like every time we've been here all the employees think they are holier then thou. What ever happen to treating customers with RESPECT. Found a new place. Groomed our dog with NO PROBLEMS and were very pleasant. Sorry we won't be back ever again and will never recommend your business to any of our friends. I suggest you stop looking down at people. Ever since I got my puppy 3 years ago I always took him to Timmie's on Leslieville for grooming. Even after their great groomer Lawrence left to open his own shop, out of loyalty I still went there. Lawrence may have been late some times but he always gave my Springer Spaniel a great groom. The other day after being away for a while I took my dog for his grooming and they told me they have this great groomer "Tiffany". So I explained and explained and explained to her how I wanted the cut and even showed him pictures of his previous grooms, and she said she got it. 3 hours later I go to pick up y dog, Paul the owner doesn't let me see my dog first, ignores me when I tell him I can hear his cries, and insists that I pay. The dog comes, he is everything I asked Tiffany not to do. He was shaved so short and the shave was ridiculously uneven and to top it all off his ears were not clean. So my wife and I brought it to Paul's attention and he kept refusing that this is not the cut we asked for. He was rude, unprofessional and kept screaming at my wife and I that he didn't want our business anymore. He shouted at us saying he didn't want our money, but when we asked him to charge back our visa, he had the audacity to accuse us of wanting a free groom!!! After 3 years!! Then he went further and called the police and his lawyer trying to intimidate us. My wife asked him why he is calling the police since he was paid and we were the one with the complaint? He just went on rambling and yelling. We were SHOCKED to say the least. First he said to wait there for the police but then he kicked us and the dog out in the scorching 40 C degrees weather to wait there. We have never been insulted like that in our lives. It is hard to believe what people would do for $100!!! I have pictures of the grooming they did, horribly uneven. read more

This is a lovely dog store - as personal a touch as you'll get anywhere. If you don't have a car and want a biiiiiig bag of dog food Paul will deliver it on his way home from work. If you want something specific they will try to order it for you. If you are not buying but your dog is desperately trying to get out of a thunderstorm, you can hide out there. Support these folks if you can during the pandemic. They're the fabric of our neighbourhood. read more

I shop here when I want to spoil my Boston Terrier "Beans" with something special. They have cute chew toys, fancy jackets and sweaters and tasty looking doggie baked goods. I have never had my dog groomed here. However another reviewer mentioned the customer service not being so great. I purchased a toy for my dog that looked to be rugged, however within hours my little doggie had ripped this toy to shreds. I called the store and stated my disappointment. Within the hour the manager called me back and said that he would gladly let me exchange the product for something more appropriate and durable for my dog. read more

What a GREAT little local dog shop in our new hood. My husband and I recently moved from Queen and Broadview area where we would usually visit The Bone House as it was the nearest dog shop but we always found it unnecessarily over priced. We were on a serious mission to find our dog an indestructible frisbee which resulted us visiting 6-7 different dog shops. We came across Timmie's for the first time and found exactly what we needed, the West Paw Zisc is absolutely perfect for teaching your dog to fetch and it won't make their gums bleed. In addition, the staff was super helpful and pleasant to chat with. I love that this store in so close to me now. read more

Timmie is our favourite pet store. They have the cutest toys and clothes, the best treats (and bakery), and just put extra special care and attention into our babies when they go in for grooming. The staff are super friendly here and it's the only place I know of that can place in an order of tollden kelp for me. They're also fantastic at grooming, but unfortunately a little pricey (I used to pay $90 for my girl when I lived in the West end, and Timmie's charges me about $110-$120).
