Continue to highly recommend Dr Tim and his staff for all of your family dental needs. I'm 55 yo with a less than stellar dental hygiene record as a kid - and I've been paying for it over the past 10 years wroot canals and crowns and other more complex work like gum surgery. Dr Tim and his associate Dr Root and their team of hygienists (and referral Dr's for Perio work etc) have worked with me to identify /track and treat all of my issues proactively before they become a "weekend emergency". Had my teeth cleaned last week (Aug 2020) and was very curious to see the C19 precautions put in place by Dr Tim and his team since reopening. Not surprisingly - Tim has gone over and above to ensure patient and worker safety. He installed a system of vacuum/filters at each patient seat to collect aerosols during cleanings/drilling etc. Seats are covered in a sanitized sheet and removed/replaced after each patient. All of the staff have N95 masks and face shields and gowns - and I observed all to be wearing them properly. The in/out process was well organized and minimized personal contact. Can't recommend Dr Tim enough - the consummate professional and an asset to the greater Newburyport community. read more

As is the case with most in the doctor's office/dental hygiene community, there appears to be a lack of self-awareness that's apparent whenever they contact you. Here's the misconception most of these people have: that they have any authority over you. Whenever I get a call from Guldemond's the people on the phone take the tone with you like you owe them something. Like you've done something wrong by not coming to see them. It's borderline harassment, not to mention disrespectful. They act like going to the Dentist is mandatory and you're in trouble if you haven't been to see them in X amount of time. There's a reason for this. They need you to come to them in order to make $. Like any business, they are trying to attract customers. However, the tone that they take is to try to tsk and wag their finger at you for not coming to see them. I'll repeat again, with emphasis. THE DENTIST IS NOT MANDATORY. Overall, the place isn't bad. They've always done a good job with my teeth. But, there's a level of arrogance and self delusion going on at this practice that I cannot abide. read more

I absolutely love Dr. Guldemond and Dr. Root. Have had great experiences with both of them. My daughters as well love Dr. Root. We just had a horrible experience with a dentist is our town, so we went back to Newburyport. It is worth the the drive from North Andover to Newburyport to have happy kids and happy mama. Dr. Root spends the time with the kids and with the parents explaining what is happening. She also fixed a previous dentists incorrect fillings and sealants. My 6 year old was so happy when she left Dr. Root. The staff is amazing as well, always smiling and pleasant, extremely knowledgable. Love, love, love this office. read more

I would like to comment on Dr. Guldemond's response, or lack thereof, to my review and note as well that it took him 6 months to respond. He does not deny that he refused to discuss my dispute or that patients are sometimes limited to a cleaning and not a checkup. I once had to change an appointment to avoid this, and his receptionist indicated that not getting a checkup was not uncommon but that the office made sure that that only happened once a year. This "professional" also defends himself by noting that my reviews are negative. First, I doubt that I am the only one who uses this forum to address poor businesse; second, I have only written a handful of reviews over the past several years; third, the fact that Guldemond devoted much more time and effort to find and read these reviews, not to mention writing a response to my review which did not even apologize for the bad experience that prompted it, than to address the underlying issue reinforces my belief that he acts much more like a businessman than a medical professional. I would also like to address the addition of a doctor. Dr. Guldemond has maintained a large number of technicians in his office long before the asserted start date of that person. Further, I suspect that that other dentist does not work there full-time. A Google search did not produce any indication that Dr. Root practiced with Dr. Guldemond. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Guldemond since the early 90s (20 years!). I've since moved away from Newburyport - requiring a long drive for my dental checkups - but maintain my account with his office for 2 reasons - first & foremost is an excellent dental practice - always professional, caring, and Dr. Guldemond's expert & gentle touch. 20 years of personalized Dental Care, a bad Hockey habit, and no major dental issues to speak of so far should be testimony enough. Second, which is what prompted me to write a Yelp review - is it gives me an excuse to visit my hometown at once a year - and a previous Yelp review took issue with office aerial photos - the Newburyport photographs are my favorite part of the visit! I would always comment on them prior to reading the review. No-one likes going to the Dentist - but Dr. Guldemond is as good as they come. read more

Dr. Guldemond is an excellent dentist that I have recommended to others and would do so again. I have been going to see him since I was a child and it has been over 20 years. The office staff is absolutely wonderful- they are kind and helpful and always in a cheerful mood. The staff will remember you from visit to visit and are always able to accommodate quickly if there is an emergency and you need to see the dentist right away. I have never had an issue seeing Dr Guldemond quickly and he treats me professionally and will spend as much time as needed with me and never makes me feel rushed. The dental hygienists are also excellent- especially Barbara!!- they are professional, thorough, and always make you feel comfortable. Try this place and you will not regret it. The person with a negative review must have had a one in a million experience but I would trust and recommend Dr Guldemond to absolutely anyone. Dr Root recently joined the practice and I have seen her for a checkup a few times, she is also wonderful. I think she works in the afternoon/ evenings which allows them to stay open later which is really great to accommodate work schedules. read more

I find the two prior reviews to be very contradictory to the experience that my family has had with Dr. Guldemond and his staff (including Dr Root) over the past three+ years. I have a family of six (kids ages 4-14) and they have always been incredibly accomodating to our needs and fitting us all in to a single visit. And no, I have never through roughly 36 (2 each/year/person) cleaning/check ups experienced what the prior reviewer referenced. Dr Guldemond and his team have helped us through everything from first time dentist visits with our two youngest, to our bi annual check-ups/cleanings, to fractured teeth. My HR rep is currently trying to look at different dental insurance providers and I have made it very clear that I do not want a change unless they can also work with Dr Guldemond. That is how strongly I feel about the high level of service and care this practice provides. If you are looking for a quality professional who provides great service and care to his patients, no need to look any further. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Guldemond since moving to the Newburyport area in 1992. He and his entire staff have been nothing but professional, kind, caring and responsive to any issue. My entire family goes to this practice and my three children NEVER complain about going to the dentist. We like Dr. Root as well and think she has been a great addition to the practice. Just a quick note on Dr. Root . If you are looking for a competent , proactive, preventative Dentist , she would be a great choice . I needed a new crown and after tweaking my bite and installing the crown I no longer have a space between my teeth for food to accumulate .
