Sunshine pediatric is absolutely horrible my daughter had her 2 month check up today while waiting in the waiting area a doctor went up to one of the secretaries and asked about patients insurance so she could see who to take next she said this loud enough for all the patients in the waiting area to hear absolutely inappropriate secondly we waited 2 1/2 hours to be seen for vaccines and for my daughter acid reflux just for the doctor to talk to me like I was a child and tell me everything I already knew then proceeded to tell me my child doesn't have pyloric stenosis after she was diagnosed by a different doctor in the practice. I'll start by saying Dr. Johnston delivered me 38 years ago. I was so excited for him to be my doctor. My first visit i was 110lbs. The ay i gave birth i was 213lbs. I kid you not every single day that i was pregnant i was sick. smells, even standing up made me sick. I would feel starving i would eat then it would come back up over and over. I would sweat from every pore in my body and feel like i wanted to faint. All things i reported to dr. Johnston. Nothing was looked into. I gained so much weight my stretch marks were ripping and becoming sores. I went to a doctor about it and was humiliated when the doctor was in such shock but offered no help. I didn't realize this wasn't right until my second pregnancy when i only gained 25 lbs. From the moment i got pregnant i had diabetes. How did he not recognize this? It could have taken mine and my babies life. My son was so big he was born not breathing due to being stuck on my pelvic bone. they called code blue it was the most horrifying experience of my life. My son is now 19 and i am still very much traumatized. read more

My previous review was deleted, go figure. Ruined my two birth experiences, he tried scaring me into many things being completely inappropriate. Membrane sweep after I had told him I didn't want to induce labor only asked for a cervical check, I believe babies come out when they're ready, he knew that but started the sweep anyway. He talked about doxxing "casually" after I said no vaccines. He made me tear during childbirth sticking his hands inside for no reason, the baby was coming out just fine. He winked at me during a check down there... I said no to stitches because I felt I was fine and he said "woman in other countries don't get stitched up either and they end up really lose down there" the more procedures he makes the more money he makes. He tried forcing me to induce right at 39 weeks. He was often talking himself up, saying how the nurses were wrong about something, calling them out infront if everyone. I'm sure he's a narcissist. He's also just very old. Also said I didn't have to take the blood test for pregnancy because "only chubby chicks have gestational diabetes " another doctor in office said that was wrong and to take the test, gave me the blood work order... i asked for the female doctor again but he wouldn't let me see her... I haven't gotten over all the trauma, I am pregnant again with no prenatal care I will birth this baby in my tub before I risk getting him as delivery doctor again. Thinking about suing, he can't keep doing this to others read more

I don't think he is a thorough dr. I've taken my parents there for appointments and he doesn't give a good check on them. If u can find another dr I would suggest that. He seems to me to give off the vibe that once your old well that's just the way you are. read more

Very good place to work! My daughter had her externship at the place. The diversity of staff & their willingness to contribute to someone who is new & fresh from school uplifts ego & learning approach. They treat you as one of them & are all professional! All were willing to help & share their knowledge & expertise. Even the doctors & PA go all the way to help out & teach them! Thank you for the chance giving her ( my daughter) the first experience in the medical field - her ultimate goal is to be a PA someday & Dr T Johnston & staff gave her the opportunity to be exposed to small little medical procedures- her one month exposure for externship was very too brief but fruitful & gave her more inspiration to be more in the medical field. Horrible service, they never answer the phones, prescriptions are constantly messed up. Only people who have their act together in that office are Eunice and Yesenia. Everyone else is trash. Doctor Johnston literally saved my daughter's life 23 years ago! She was 14 and contracted spinal meningitis. She was admitted to ER and none of the doctors could determine what she had until Dr. Johnson saw her. He prescribed the strongest antibiotic available and after 24 in a coma my daughter woke up. She spent 8 days in the hospital but recovered fully. I have NEVER forgotten Dr. Johnston or his incredible care for my family! My daughter has two little girls now herself. Our Daughter was a high risk pregnancy and had a very rough time - Dr Johnston took amazing care of her and earned her complete trust. Not easy after what she has been thru, but he was always kind and gentle with her thru out her pregnancy. He made the decision to deliver her at 38 weeks. She went thru three days of labor and Dr Johnston was a prince. He is calm and reassuring and in the moment it is called for he is clear and commanding. He was in her room in minutes when she suddenly spiked a fever. When she began to deliver he was all business. His team is like a ballet to watch - everyone in their place and in point! He walked in and clearly told her exactly what he needed her to do and she instantly zeroed in on him. She had a beautiful baby boy and we are so happy! In addition it should be noted that his entire staff is amazing , the hospital nurses love him and respect him as much as his patients. None of us can figure out how the man gets any sleep - we witnessed him going to several rooms and delivering babies within minutes! He is a phenomenal Doctor- we are blessed to have him in Merced!!! read more

went for a bone dentisty test but nowhere to park! I know this doc is a good man but come on, handicap accessibility was NOT present! I am disabled and had to walk around the front to get to the bone place! This is complete ignorant! I was so worn out by the time I got to bone place I could hardly breath! Beware! Incompetent staff leads to scary situations. Med mix-ups and sudden discontinues, incorrect blood pressure readings, lost files, my files in disarray , calls not returned and some hold times exceeding 20 minutes where i just give up and hang up. I have to say that I normally would not post a review like this but I seriously think this medical group is disorganised, overbooked, and passes the buck anytime something goes wrong or is misplaced...like my files. Really? I had to sit and wait while they searched around in all the other offices to find them. I can not express enough that if you must go here, tread lightly and watch closely. I haven't had issues until this past year. Dr Johnston has always been good to my son and myself. He helped took me as a patient when no one else would and delivered my baby. Fast-forward a year and we were switched to Dr Brown for pediatrician care. There is no direct line (at least that they're willing to provide) to Dr. Browns office. You have to call Johnston's line and after waiting to talk to their receptionist be transferred and wait again. Staff in both Johnston and Brown offices don't return phone calls for appointments or prescription refills. This is not a one time occurance unfortunately which is why I write the review. I debated for a year, justifying staff behavior and finally have had it. One appointment I had with the pediatrician I was initially told they were out of a certain vaccine my son needed. The nurse later came in and said they had the vaccine, but thought I had a different insurance. I was floored. Totally unethical. I haven't felt like Dr. Brown truly cares about my son in multiple experiences in multiple appointments. Dr. Johnston & Associates have now expanded into 3 offices in the same area and I feel like they're taking on more than the staff can handle because it's nothing like it was two years ago, in result I have found a new doctor. read more

While I appreciate the medical advice/diagnosis, the office staff and telephone assistance is beyond poor. Call the office and be transferred at least two times and then you are asked to leave a message which is not returned for two days. But of course there is the message, "If this is an emergency hang up and call 911". Like that wouldn't have occurred to me. read more

Dr. Johnston is a smart diagnostic physician. He was very thorough in treating my mother. She was told by an ER physician that she had cancer without any diagnostic confirmation. We sought out Dr. Johnston, not only because my father sees him, but also for his experience in both general and OBGYN field. I've worked in the medical field for over 20 plus years. A few things I know: 1. There will be a wait for most physicians, especially if they are really great doctors. 2. Although the office staff is somewhat an extension of the physician, if there is ever a rude or incompetent employee, that can be fixed with an open conversation with your physician. 3. I'd rather have a really good diagnostic physician than one with a better bedside manner. There may have been a slight wait for Dr. Johnston, but it did not take away from the time he needed. The staff was pleasant. Dr. Johnston did not try and rush us out the door. It's was quite the opposite. He spoke to my mother in a way she could understand and she was left thoroughly happy as was I. read more

Do not go to this doc for ob gyn care, he won't prescribe prenatal vitamins unless you ask him for them...his personality may seem appealing but he definitely is not a good doctor...doesn't collect medical history..just comes in " uh huh uh huh" and schedule next appointment...women, if you value the child in your body, Stay away from this doctor.... read more

Dr. Johnston is one of the best OBGYN's in merced county. I went from having a normal pregnancy to having Gestational diabetes. He was calm and helped me through every aspect. Also, if it hadn't been for Dr Johnston my daughter might not have survived. The resident doctors at Mercy Hospital were horrible, but once Dr J came in he took control over the whole situation. Adriana in the referrals department is the worst employee I have ever dealt with. So unprofessional and extremely rude. I have never written bad review but this woman will be my first. I was asking for her assistance and she will answer in such a negative and annoyed tone. She would use words such as "Yeah, I guess I can do that." Or "I don't know, it's whatever they have on file." This is YOUR JOB. Be polite and nice especially when the person on the other end is being nice to you. I couldn't even stand to be on the phone with her anymore so I had to hang up on her. If she want's to argue saying she didn't say or act the way I stated she was, then she can ask the whole office I work with because I had her on speaker so other's know how unbelievably rude she was.
