Today my husband and I traveled to Timothy's garden center in Robbinsville New Jersey to look for rocks to add to our front yard. It was our first time visiting the center and we really didn't know where to begin. My husband walked over to a gentleman working on a forklift to let him know what we were looking for and ask him where to begin. The gentleman's name was Joe and he dropped everything he was doing to assist us find the type of rocks we were searching for. He helped us take the rocks to be weighed and helped my husband load the rocks into his truck. Joe was very pleasant and made our search easier. I then proceeded to the cashier to pay for the rocks and was welcomed by two friendly cashiers. With all that is going on in today's society, it's pleasant to find a business that still values its customers. Although the weather was crappy, I walked away from Timothy's with a big smile. It was a great reminder that there are still people out there who are willing to go the extra mile to provide exceptional customer service. They have a HUGE selection/showroom of Techo Bloc offerings to see in person. There are displays outside and inside the garden center. You can walk on and feel the products. I highly recommend visiting if you are considering Techo Bloc. This was very helpful as it reassured my selection choices, but also made me change my mind about a few once I saw them in person. This was my first time to this location. They have a large selection of Christmas décor to choose from. I cannot speak to any plants and how long they last, but I would consider coming back to check out their offerings in the spring. read more

Went to purchase plants for the front yard. Was pleasantly surprised as the person who assisted us was very knowledgeable in suggesting a type of plant. They Guarantee the plant for up to a year. The plant is still thriving. They also recommended a fertilizer for the plant. Great place!! I'm happy. read more

We bought 30 or more plants (moved into a new home) and needed to return 6 that died or nearly dead over the summer. At the time of purchase they tell you to save your receipts as their trees and shrubs are guaranteed for 1 year. The process of obtaining a refund was very unpleasant. I have done this at Lowe's and it takes 5 minutes. It took me nearly 30 minutes while my photos were scrutinized and he searched my 4 very long receipts to match up the items. I got 200 in credit and a lousy customer experience. Won't be going there again. read more

I bought a cord of firewood that was delivered yesterday and when we went to go put it away and stack for the winter it was a pile of crap pieces. Not much to be able to stack more like pieces to chuck at someone... very disappointed. Especially for the price, are you kidding me?!!! read more

The stock is good but the staff is lets say "witchy" you might want to replace the "W" with a "B". I returned a big deal $10 hanging plant and rather than simply replace it my gardening skills were questioned. The plant was very wet, indeed it did it had poured the night before, it was already failing but when I returned it, it just happened to be quite wet, I was belittled for overwatering. Nice stock but do not plan on using their guarantee. Staff is rude, when you hand in a coupon they make you feel like your are being cheap are they forgetting the mark up on plants? read more

Recently moved into area. Re-doing front landscaping. Been to several nurseries including Timothy's. (Which my daughter recommended). Bought a bunch of shrubs, rocks etc. Liked the idea that they stood behind their products despite the higher prices. Disappointment: Brought back an obviously dying diseased mugho pine which I paid about $40 bucks. The saleswoman proceeded to debate whether the sorry, brown plant was dead or alive. Seriously. She was humorless, she was not helpful. My sense from her and other reviewers is that the customer service aspect of this business needs improvement. Threw the plant in the garbage and left without any satisfaction. Spent hundreds of dollars at Timothy's, never again. read more

I leave 2 stars based on the prices primarily. Service was meh.... but the prices were WAY OVER PRICED. I was doing a landscaping job in the area which is out of my normal area. Google sent me to Timothys. With no sales help in site it took me about 30 min. To find all I needed. Most landscaping supply places give landscapers a discount so I showed the girl at the register my card she said she would apply the discount I was shocked to say the least at what the total was.... over $300 for what would normally be a $225 purchase.... but by that time I have already wasted too much time so I sucked it up and just bought it however I will never purchase anything there again. read more

I'll often make the 15-minute schlep across town to go here, because they carry a good variety of organic gardening in products that you just can't find at other places. The staff is extremely helpful, even when they're being blitzed with the hordes that come out as soon as the temperatures hit 60. I don't know much about plants, but this is one of the largest nuseries in the area. The indoor section is huge and the out door area is huge as well. Both with a great variety of plants and trees. They also have truck loads of mulch, and plenty of equipment/ supplies. I don't think they sell sheds and swing sets like their competition next door, but they do have a masonry section where you can purchase statues, fountains, bricks, stones, etc. read more

I wish I had taken the time to compare topsoils before I bought theirs and had them dump it on our driveway. The topsoil from Timothy's is gritty, cut with sand, so heavy and does not dry out. I'll be lucky if my perennials survive. The leftover "soil" still in the pile, uncovered, finally dried into rocks of cement-like dirt. Live and learn: topsoils vary a lot!! Down the street has topsoil like you'd expect: rich, moist and lighter. read more

Timothy's has nice stock and workers take very good care of it. Plants are healthy and properly watered. There is a large variety of perennials and Proven Winners plants. Bill is a great resource. The three longtime women who work here are also very helpful and knowledgeable. The owner, Tim, never smiles and is a grouch. You would think he could be pleasant to his workers and customers. Instead he stands near the cashiers or rides around in a vehicle scowling. The employees surely deserve credit for Timothy's success especially since they have Cranky Pants as their boss. Five stars for plants, employees and parking. Four stars overall because the owner ruins the positive atmosphere for happy gardeners. read more

I have been going to Timothy's on an off for about 9 years. I bought all my landscape materials there when I built my 2500 gal. Koi pond. Wall stone, river rock, mulch, etc. I continued getting my landscape material there since then. I always had a good experience with the staff and never had any issues. Yesterday was an exception. I went there to buy a half cord of firewood. It was a bit expensive but I am a believer in "keeping it local". I had my pick up truck so there was no need for delivery. I drove over to the wood pile and was met there by one of the workers with the front loader. He quickly realized what I already knew, he wasn't going to be able to just dump the wood into the back. It was going to have to be stacked in order to fit all the wood. I told him he could just dump my allotment next to the truck and I would load it. Instead, he positioned the loader right over the tailgate and we both jumped in the back and started stacking. We got to the third and final bucket load all the while talking and stacking. All of about 20 min. of work. This is when the owner pulls up on his cart and and starts saying "this is taking way too long","don't talk to him while he's working". I replied back to him, "What? We've been talking the whole time, and he hasn't stopped". He replies, "Yes he has, I've been watching. This is no good, it's taking too long". I was pissed. I just spent $159 on a half cord of wood when I absolutely could have gotten it cheaper elsewhere. What happened to customer service?? Why would anyone patronize an establishment you get an attitude from anyone who that works there? I sure don't!! I know I'm not one of his regular landscape businesses that buy from him everyday, but it shouldn't matter. I haven't decided whether or not I will go back. There are plenty of other places to get what I need. read more

This place is the absolute worst. Their customer service is absolutely horrible. My wife and I spent $300 on plants for our landscaping which supposedly had a guarantee. After one of them died three months later, they refused to honor their guarantee and blamed it on lack of water. I am no moron and know how to take care of plants. Love their plants, especially the SunPatients which I get every year. They grow into a forest - at least two feet tall if not more and they spread bigly. The alyssum, most specifically the purple and white mixture has always been healthy and spreads nicely in the garden. Other faves are the stepping stones - particularly like the fleur-de-lis and dragonfly. I've always had nice service and advice from the staff. Can't understand the vitriolic criticism. Note to posters doing this - cursing out the owner as an a-hole and bitches destroys your credibility. read more

I have been a customer for over 20 years and in the past 5 years they continue to inch up annual pricing to where its too expensive, even with a coupon! additionally , I stopped buying veggies there because they continually miss-label the product. LY i purchases a tray (6 plants) of regular bell peppers as it was labeled... what I got was hot peppers, not good. They also miss-labeled the tomato varieties. I bought Heirloom but got plum tomatoes...not gong back this year. read more

The prices seem too high, compared to the other garden centers in the area. But there is nothing like getting out of the car and taking in the vast expanse of plants. They have an incredible variety, and I appreciate that. If you're looking for a hard-to-find specimen, there's a good chance Timothy's will have it. Tim and his staff have been excellent to work with and when I have had any issues, they have given me credit right away and no problems. I went yesterday morning with my mom because I was in need of some flowers for my flower bed. She was raving about the selection this place had but I had no idea until arriving at Timothy's. I was very impressed with such a big selection and it was hard to choose flowers from with so many great looking flowers. The flowers looked healthy and not dreary looking like some places that I've been to so I was very happy. I tried to return 2 pots that the folks at Timothy's sold me. These were unused, and I bought them right off the shelf. They didn't bother to tell me that these were the wrong size for my potted trees, and then when I tried to return them they refused to take them back claiming they were dented and dinged. This was the way we bought them, and they still had the tags on them. I have never run into ruder people/management, and I will never go there again. I have also told all my friends and family of their antics, and apparently I am not the only one they have been rude to.
