Good place for dancing especially on the weekends- not as much for food but they have drinks. The employees were helpful especially when getting multiple drink orders and for water when needed. It's loud /hot upstairs- you mostly dance there and there's live music downstairs. We mostly stayed upstairs to dance. The DJ on March 1st was AWESOME. Great transitions from song to song but kept a good mix of older and newer songs. Great DJ wish he would come to Chapel Hill. Downstairs we listen to some songs but it's more of a sway and sing along or hang vibe. Heard a lot more grunge/rock songs than upstairs being more rap/pop. It's a good place to drink, it's a bad place to drink, but that all depends on your choice of drink. It's hard to tell what the theme of this bar is, but the very comfortable retro bar chairs and tropical colored walls lead me to believe they are aiming for the margeritaville feel. It is however easy to identify this as a live music venue, with a plain jane second floor that also offers a rooftop bar. They obviously know how to hire the right talent to drive this bar, unfortunately they miss the mark on getting them to the finish line by not stocking what they need to make the drinks. TLDR: Awesome bartenders, good but limited food options, loud DJ, numerous events and specials. Ideal for night life and live music. Too loud, young, and rowdy for my taste. I stopped in for a light meal and a drink around 4 pm. The DJ was loudly playing 2000s songs. I enjoyed the music, but found it challenging to communicate with the bartender due to the sheer volume. Their kiwi margaritas were advertised on a sign out front, however, they were out of the ingredients needed to make it. Nicole is one of the sweetest, efficient bartender I've met. She offered to make a spicy margarita instead. The margarita unfortunately had no flavor. Tasted more like slightly sweet and alcoholic water. I ordered a pork belly taco to accompany the drink. A bit pricy at $5 for one taco and $10+ for weak drinks. Rooftop seating is available as well as indoor seating at high tops and at the bar. TVs located in both areas. Dogs seem to be welcome inside and street parking is available. They do offer a variety of specials and host events regularly. I had one of the new drinks off the spring menu, it was some kind of margarita. They also had $4 wells so I grabbed me one. They had live music too and the upstairs patio bar area was nice. Didn't think the place was that big from the outside but inside it's pretty spacious and had plenty of seatings. I went in to Tin Roof for a music brunch and well it's definitely more of a night time spot. Wouldn't recommend it for brunch. The brunch menu is very limited and the music is sooooo loud. With that being said our waitress was super friendly and my bloody mary was delicious. I ended up going with the buffalo wings since the brunch menu wasn't super appealing to me and they were quite tasty. The tater tots were also good, salty, and crisp. The open windows make for a great ambiance on a nice/day or night. I would go back to hear a band at night for sure. read more

Oh my goodness is this place busy! Definitely the "twangiest" bar in this stretch. Full of guys in 10-gallon hats and girls in cowgirl boots. There was great music playing all night and lots of fun opportunities for pictures. Great vibes and fun times. I think drink prices are fairly cheap, though I always go for a bud light anyways so I can't speak on behalf of a cocktail. I've went to tin roof several times and I feel like it's worked out the kinks it had when it first opened. When it first opened, it was frustrating for only a few people to be let in at a time (this was pre-pandemic) but it seems like they've been able to control crowd better now. I like when there's a live band and the atmosphere is nice. There are two levels, the lower being a little more clubbish and the top being more laidback. I really enjoyed utilizing the seating outside upstairs for brunch. They have really good mimosas and the food is good for the prices. The tacos are actually really good. The staff is fun and friendly and knowledgeable about the different types of alcohol they sell. Two of the ones upstairs were able to advise my friend on a few types of liquors that would suit her test. The cover is kind of a bummer but it's worth it when there's a band. read more

I was in a full suit, with my groomsman and bridal party, literally just got married a few hours earlier just standing there having a few drinks and within 20 minutes at the bar I got grabbed by two guys with yellow shirts and thrown out. Being told "your outta here" with no explanation other than "get there fuck outta my bar" and no discretion to my new bride who was at the venue. She ultimately got thrown out aswell with no reasoning other than "your outta here, get the fuck outta this bar". I would highly recommend going somewhere else or else you will be held liable to be thrown out for no rhyme or reason other than it seems like to show they have the power to throw people out. TIN ROOF RUSTED! Tin Roof might not be a love shack but it is a little ole place(well more like a big place) where people get together to eat, drink, watch sports and listen to live music. I originally heard about "da roof" over the Summer and finally made my way in on a recent Winter weekend. I arrived with a few friends around 7ish so not that late but the place was already pretty much packed. There were no tables to be had so we ended up sitting in the back on stools. Not the most comfortable and couldn't see the stage too well. I could definitely hear the music though and it was pretty loud. When I first got there it was an acoustic guitarist singing a variety but mostly country I think. Later a band came out that played 90's alternative rock so that was more my speed. I drink some cold beers and ordered some food(chicken tenders, and fries). Not bad, but nothing too exciting. The menu looked to be mostly the typical bar food (wings, nachos, sandwiches). Our server was friendly and attentive (The bill at the end of the night was frightening). I would like to come back to "da roof" and check out the second level some time(I didn't get a chance to do so on my first visit). I am glad that DTR has another live music option. There were a few of examples throughout the night that this place is not what it's cracked up to be: 1) Asked the bartender to change the TV (yes it was busy) to a game I wanted for a $20 tip. The response I got was "dude we're a bar" and he walked away with the $20 2) The house band played photo by nickelback...immediately to follow the song the singer said "that's my favorite song from my favorite band"...enough said 3) Most frustrating and honestly the reason why I'm writing this review...the "dj" finished with his shift walking downstairs from the upstairs bar pushed me up against the wall as a show of force while I was walking upstairs. My response was to tell him to get off me and forcefully remove myself from being pinned on the wall. The response was 2 dudes with what I can only imagine is severe gingivitis and neck tats calling me a bitch and telling me I'm out. In response I asked them to get the bouncer to make it official. I could see the bouncer was hesitant, but still due to poor management priorities decided to follow through with no context...yea I'm partially in the wrong on this one, but the bottom line is I won't be back and neither will my friends.
