She then had me put one hand in the manicure bowl that had cold water with nothing in it. I literally just finished putting it in, and she pulled it out to start cutting cuticles. She finished cutting the one had that was less than 2 minutes, and then did the other. She then made me get up to wash my hands after cutting off the cuticle, which she only spent less than 5 minutes on. Usually places have a damp clothes and do it for you. My nails looked like what they would if I did it myself at home, barely took off any cuticles & my nails feel like when you break a nail. Once I sat back down, she said choose nail polish. I got up & was looking around for a box with all the colors displayed. I had no clue where they were. She then just pointed and yelled, "There." It was just where all the nail polish are kept up with numbers on them. She rushed me to choose a color, then yelled and asked for me to bring it to her. She then put the clear on. It was still wet, and then she put on other nail polish. She then pointed at the place to dry them. I was wainting for her to turn them on, and she then yelled and turned it on for me. I walked in and luckily did not need to wait, and noted that all the nail techs had customers either getting their hands done or seated at the pedicure tubs. The woman that did my feet did not talk at all to me except to ask what color I wanted, and was extremely rough! I had to ask four different times for her to be more gentle. I am not that sensitive to the "normal" levels of discomfort one might have if they have cuticles trimmed/callouses sloughed off. The lack of any care given whatsoever to my requests was frustrating, and barely acknowledged. I gave up towards the end of the pedicure when she transitioned to painting my toes. My big toe on my right foot was hurting immediately afterwards, and it wasn't until I got home but I noticed a cut in the left corner of that toe. The polish itself looks nice, but the fact that she was so rough that she cut into my skin deep enough to require me applying Polysporin every day since is not OK. Due to the pain and discomfort and all-around lack of professionalism I had been treated to I called the salon near the end of day Monday to advise the owner/manager of my experience. The woman who answered the phone said that he wasn't there, but that I could tell her what happened and she would let him know. I stated that my toe is still extremely painful, and despite me requesting the nail tech to be more careful and less rough, I ended up with a slice on the end of my toe just under the nail. She certainly did not seem interested and did not ask for my contact information. I provided it anyway and asked for a callback. I understand the logistics of getting customers in and out quickly, but at some point there needs to be someone mandating professionalism, ethics and processes to follow when a customer ends up with a cut due to employee negligence. If I thought it was innocently done I'd have less concern. She did NOT care and made no effort whatsoever. It is now Wednesday and I have not heard from anyone despite leaving my name and phone number. I am still treating my toe with Polysporin as it is still an issue. The pain isn't as bad as Sun/Mon, I guess it's closing up. And have sidestepped infection hopefully. I am beyond not impressed, and I will never go back.

She commented several times she only works there one day a week and perhaps that should have been my first clue! She worked as if she'd never done a pedicure before. My daughter said her service was similar. There was a regular customer in at the same time with the owner. Both were friendly but soooo loud. It was odd for a day spa for it to be so noisy. Again the experience was kind of strange. We wouldn't go back. There was no malice or pain involved (thankfully), but the quality of the work was really low. And it was far more expensive than the place we usually go (the pedicure was $65 to start with plus a tip which I felt compelled to give). The biggest concern was hygiene. The drill bit used on me still had someone else's nail polish residue on it, meaning it hadn't been properly cleaned before being used on another client. That alone made me really uncomfortable. The service itself was even worse. The technician (Hannah) was extremely rough with my hands the entire appointment. She kept twisting, grabbing, and tossing my hands around instead of moving them gently. Multiple times I told her she was hurting me, and every time she just said "oh" and continued doing the exact same thing. At one point she filed so aggressively that she went all the way into the sidewall of my natural nail, which was painful and completely unnecessary. She also lost control of the drill (multiple times...) resulting in more pain and even cutting my finger. She also didn't properly size the nail tips. Instead of checking which sizes actually fit my nails, she grabbed random ones after already putting glue on them and just stuck them on anyway. What made the whole experience feel even more uncomfortable was the lack of professionalism. Although the technician spoke English, she refused to communicate with me during my appointment and instead only spoke with her coworkers in Vietnamese. I don't expect anyone to speak a certain language, but when I'm the client and I'm trying to communicate about pain or ask questions, I'd expect at least basic communication. Towards the end of my appointment a lady who I believe is the owner walked in and right away my technician was more gentle with me (although she still wouldn't speak to me). There were also several things that made me question the cleanliness and safety of the salon. Staff lunches were sitting right beside the nail chemicals and supplies, and nail products were being stored in the bathroom where they could potentially be accessed or tampered with. Also for what it's worth, this is the only salon I've been to where I didn't see any visible business licence being displayed. Overall, this was one of the worst salon experiences I've had. Between the hygiene concerns, painful service, poor communication, and overall lack of professionalism, I won't be returning & I would encourage you to look into better places. Ann's Nails in Langford does it SO much better for the same price! (Ask for Victoria)

Today I got a French manicure with regular polish - excellent! I also got a pedicure but didn't renew my polish as I had left the last polish on too long and my nails were not in great condition. I got the Envy finish to help them revive and will start getting polish again in a month. This salon has a lot of technician changes but I have had very few problems. Two different technicians (Tiffany and Lavender) worked on my nails, and the service felt careless. They noticed my cuticles bleeding and simply wiped the blood away with their finger. The UV curing process was so painful I had to pull my hand out, and instead of warning me or adjusting, I was just told to "press my fingers down on the table and put them back in." I asked for a deep maroon red with no sparkle. They said they didn't have the color and would "make it," instead of letting me choose a different shade. The result wasn't the color I wanted, and sparkle was added anyway, despite me asking multiple times not to have it. The flower design I wanted wasn't done as requested, one French tip was smudged, and several nails had visible bubbles under the gel. For $90 (without tip), I expected quality and care. While the technicians were polite, the actual service was very poor, and I would not return or recommend this salon.
