Attending a friend's wedding at Tinakilly House in early December 2015. It was fantastic, the food was amazing and the atmosphere as the Hotel was decorated with a Victorian Christmas theme. The weather was terrible and that just made the hotel better with roaring fires and a cozy atmosphere. The food was fantastic and I had a special vegan menu for dinner with a hummus starter and a vegetable curry main course. The room was stunning (see pic). With a beautiful four poster bed and amazing warm decor. Service was friendly and very good. With the M50 and M11 it is less than an hour from Dublin Airport (not in rush hour though) so would be a great option as a place to stay just outside the city for visitors renting a car. Recently stayed here and attended a wedding on the premises. Pros: Full breakfast included. Beautiful space. Nice bartenders. Not overpriced. Meal at wedding was very good. Cons: phone in room didn't work. Heat wasn't on and we were freezing. Window had no curtain so we got woken up early. As far as the wedding goes- they kept the doors open so it was cold inside, and would reopen them when a guest closed them. They charged people at the open bar. And they put the wrong wedding date on the invitations. read more

A must, MUST!! My husband and I were touring Ireland and wanted to experience Irish countryside. I found this hotel on Expedia and was so pleased with our choice to stay here. The house is absolutely stunning and had a Downton Abbey feel to it. It had impeccably manicured grounds, spacious, yet cozy rooms, a delicious high end restaurant and warm service from all of the staff. Highly recommend! read more

From the moment we arrived we felt special. This is the 1st place that didn't treat us any different because we had a "grab one" deal. Naomi on reception could not have been friendlier or more accomodating. We went to the bar and we didn't have to leave our comfortable sofa as the bar man came each time with our drinks and also made me a origional Hungarian cocktail. We ate a 6 course meal and every course was amazing. Sarah our waitress was attentive and friendly which made our meal more enjoyable. This morning's breakfast was equally impressive. We met the new manager John on arrival, so we knew we were in good hands. We were given a four poster bed in an 18th century style bedroom with a view of the gardens. I highly recommend Tinakilly for a quiet getaway. It will re-charge your batteries and you will come away happy. read more

I visited here recently for a yoga weekend and was delighted with the experience. Hands on and very friendly staff and owners, intricate decor, and brilliant attention to detail. On arriving, we were personally shown to our room, which was far bigger than expected, and had a great view out to the sea. Hand made bath bombs and soap awaited us, which we eagerly used over the weekend to relax after yoga sessions. The bar and restaurant had dainty cups and saucers, extensive menus and quality Irish food. The decor was obviously attentively designed - real flowers in arrangements, carefully picked out antiques and elaborate mirrors. As for the yoga, our teacher set the atmosphere perfectly - relaxed, but with optional intensive movements and stretches. I found it very helpful to learn about the different types of breathing and how it improves your mindset going into a yoga session. Will be recommending it to my friends, especially as a calming weekend get away or wedding venue. read more

The word that springs to mind about Tinakilly House is 'tired'. A relic of old decency, it's charm lies in the big house feel in spectacular grounds barely an hour from Dublin city centre. Decor is definitely on the, shall we say, shabby side with dark wallpaper and ancient furnishings. If you're looking for 5 star luxury, look elsewhere. The rooms, however, are very comfortable and our junior suite was huge with a fabulous view towards the sea. We also dined in the restaurant where I had Wicklow lamb - as you do - and my wife had a very nice hake. The dining room was also a model of shabby gentility although the service was friendly and attentive and we did notice that the numerous tourists were all enjoying the experience hugely. An excellent breakfast the next morning topped off a pleasant, if not spectacular, experience. Bed, breakfast, dinner with wine and a couple of cocktails for two set me back €330 so it ain't cheap either. But as an escape from the city whilst still a very short trip away, it is what it is. I'd been before and I might go back but not in any great rush to do so. read more

Tinakilly has recently undergone a revamp BUT, the wheelchair ramps at the front door are both a Health and Safety risk, and are useless to wheelchair bound patrons as they are too steep and anyway a wheelchair could not traverse the deep gravel in front of the entrance. Just get a wheelchair-bound patron to advise the managment how to do things is my advice. And while on the subject of advice it might be helpful for new staff to be told that a double Espresso is NOT 2 x single Espresso price - in fairness I was grudgingly refunded some of the price after my complaint, but it should never have happened in the first place ! ( I DID have another staff related problem before where a recently arrived patron was served by a new staff member first after I'd been waiting 20mins to be served - hard to keep good staff these days ! ) read more
