What a great afternoon activity with Jacquie of the Chef led Italian Market tour. She was so…read moreknowledgeable about the area, people, businesses, and foods. I felt we had been friends hanging out for years talking about each detail of the area, and I have never been anywhere near any of these streets before. We started at the local cheese and meat shop just up the block, where we had a few tasty treats. Personally, I could have spent the rest of the afternoon tasting the cheese and meats, but off we went to our next stop of balsamic and oil tastings. Off to an expresso spot and then to learn more about the neighborhood shops and stands. We took a short walk over to see some wonderful side streets where we were brought over for dessert and then a local favorite spot for some Grandma's pizza. Each spot we made it to was filled with life, and you can see in Jacquie's smile how she loved sharing the community with others. Next time we make it back to the area, we will look up to see what other tours she offers. Easy short walks and not hard for any age.

If you need to use the restroom before the Tour, use the one in the Betsy Ross House because the one in the Starbucks across the street didn't have any toilet paper. We had a very big group but Toni kept us all together. She is such a gem - a much better storyteller than the Tour guide from the Independence Hall. This tour with Toni made up for the anticlimactic one from the Independence Hall. She was very thoughtful and made sure we always stopped in the shade since it was a very hot day. Her stories were entertaining and engaging. I loved all the historical snippets she'd give us about the timeperiod of the founding fathers. We got so lucky because Benjamin Franklin's printing press was finally opened after a 10-year closure. Such a great addition to The Tour. You donate whatever you want at the end and I would highly recommend it if you're in Philly.

We started at the Betsy Ross house where we stayed outside for about 15 minutes. We went to elfreth's alley where we spent close to 30 minutes learning about the Trinity style architecture and lots more. We walked to the courtyard of the Ben Franklin museum. He also gave us the lowdown on where to go for the best cheesesteaks. It's pay what you wish and overall gives a great introduction to the city.

They were very accommodating and had amazing customer service. The tour was absolutely amazing. Mink was our tour guide and Kim joined us after our second stop. They were both very knowledgeable and helped us to navigate all the amazing places in China Town. Their vision of bringing people together through food is truly amazing. Both Mink and Kim are passionate about their mission. They know all of the great spots and help you to feel more confident in China Town. Definitely doing another tour with them. This is a must!

He shared with us that he is a retired University professor and Philadelphia native. He loves this city and it showed! We learned about the history of one of the oldest markets in the US (over 100 years old) and sampled some items along the way. We also saw street art and learned more about the history of the City, William Penn's plan for a "utopian" type society and the legendary "curse of William Penn." The Penn statue on top of City Hall used to be the highest point in Philadelphia until the 1980's when the mayor alllowed skyscrapers in. The legend goes that after that, all the Philly sports teams had a losing streak until a worker on one of the new tallest buildings added a mini statue of Penn to the top, then the teams started to win again. On our tour, we sampled... Sesame seed sprinkled fresh bread (with no preservatives) Italian cookie drizzled with chocolate. Aged Balsamic Vinegar, Fig Vinegar and Coconut flavored White Balsalmic Vinegar Special cheese (can't remember the name) coupled with spiced cashews Fresh (made today) Tortilla chips and fresh tomato salsa from a shop where the owners are from Central Mexico Mandarin orange from the produce stand Plus we got 10% off when we purchased additional items at the vendors we passed for being on the tour.

This was a fantastic tour! We always try to participate in a food tour when visiting different…read morecities, and this was one of our favorites. This is a bus tour, not a walking tour. In fact, you don't even need to get off the bus. The sandwiches have been pre-ordered and are delivered to the bus. It's extremely nice, especially when it's raining, extremely cold, or hot and humid. You always have the option of getting off and stretching your legs, catching a glimpse of the restaurant, etc. The tour has 5 stops and you are asked to rate different components (meat, cheese, bread) at each stop. The tour guide listens to the feedback and alters stops on the tour periodically based upon the feedback. Stops on this tour included Sonny's, Campo's, Jim's, Pat's, and Geno's. We also stopped at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and got to climb up the Rocky steps. Our tour guide, Nina (also the owner of the company), passed along all sorts of her knowledge about the city as we drove past various monuments and buildings. I highly recommend this tour when visiting Philadelphia. You'll walk away stuffed; not only did we receive the 5 samples, Nina also had a local goodie bag for us (Herr's potato chips, Tastykake).

Their number is some answering service that doesn't allow you to leave a voicemail. I emailed with my phone number and no response until AFTER the tour - got it 5 minutes ago. They told me nobody was there because they don't do tours on MLK Day, it's a holiday and it's in their terms and conditions that I signed off on. Then WHY did they sell me a tour on a holiday they clearly celebrate? If that's the case they could claim every time they don't show up it was National Ice Cream Day, it's Flag Day, it's Ramadan and they're not doing tours. Living Social took care of us and the other tour takers that were there, but seriously. How is this place still in business?

The service was exceptional! The staff was warm and welcoming and they truly seemed to care for the passengers and wanted to ensure we had a good experience. The train car we rode in was beautiful, and the seats were comfortable. And the best part was being able to walk to and around the open train car to get the best view of the open air and fall foliage. Overall, the check-in and boarding process went smoothly. In addition, I was delighted to see the nice and clean event porta potty rentals. Thank God! A complimentary snack or drink would have made this the perfect experience I know Colebrook Dale has year-round season-themed excursions and dinner excursions. With a culinary background, I'm looking forward to trying and reviewing one of their dinner experiences.
