Our instructor/guide D was very patient and insightful guide as he explained the history of the Mural Arts program in Philadelphia! Our tour started from Columbus Blvd and went through Northern Liberties and Chinatown! I was nervous to go in the streets in the beginning, but once I got my confidence I was enjoying the tour as well as the ease the we went through the neighborhoods! Booked a 4 hour private tour, Adam was our tour guide. The transportation was clean and comfortable. The tour was outstanding, all the major highlights of the city. We were able to stop along the way for coffee and at several sites for a closer look. Adam has vast knowledge of the area and historical sites and was an excellent story teller. We had an awesome time "Segwaying" our way through Philly on a 2 hour tour. We went all over the city and it was so much fun. A whole new way to take in the sites. Our tour guide, Barry, was wonderful. He was really knowledgeable about the city and had been giving these tours for years. He even commutes to work on his very own Segway! True sign you love what you do. I was nervous at first to get on the Segway, but Barry was really patient and helped us get comfortable with the Segway before we embarked on our journey. Along our route, Barry took photos of us and they were e-mailed that evening. A nice bonus! (except some were a bit blurry) They offer both 1 and 2 hour tours. A 1 hour tour may be enough, I was getting a little tired standing on the Segway for 2 hours, but its personal preference. If you are looking for something fun and different to do, consider the Segway tour. read more

This was my first Segway tour. Upon arrival we were promptly seated in the corner to watch their safety video. Unfortunately there was another group literally right behind us learning the Segways. So it was very hard to hear what was being said in the video. When it came time to train on the Segways, each person got 1 on 1 time with the guide. It was pretty quick, but we were all offered more time to get back on if needed. They make sure to stress safety here at Philly by Segway. As for the tour itself, it was perfectly paced. Our guide (Fred i think) was very friendly and there were never any dead spots during the entire hour. He was also very prepared, having several walkie-talkies ready when my girlfriend had two that died on her. One big problem I had though is that it could he hard to hear unless the walkie-talkie is right next to your face. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. We were able to hit most of the popular spots in the city. Some that we didn't have time to fit in (magic gardens, Italian market) and a few we didn't think of (Pennsylvania hospital, historic houses). read more

Fantastic Segway Tour! This was our first time on a segway, and it was so much fun! Our tour guide Nowlan was friendly and knowledgable about the city. I grew up in South Jersey and am in Philly regularly, and yet I still saw the city in a completely different light and learned a ton, even though we weren't even doing the historical tour. The price would have been a little steep, but the groupon made it very affordable. I recommend going on the morning tour if it is the summer, so that it is nice and cool and breezy. We were able to try the segways during a mini training and it was really easy for us to pickup. Loved seeing all the sites, we covered a ton of places in an hour. Okay things: The actual content of the tour, wasn't much. It was a little scattered and didn't have a ton of depth. However, 90% of this tour is seeing cool parts of the city and being on a segway, which I would totally do again. It's a good company and I recommend tours with them. This was great fun. My daughter and I did a 1 hour tour at 3pm on a Saturday. We had never been on a Segway. After a short intro and practice run, the group and we were off. "D" was our tour guide. He did a great job of keeping us safe, providing direction, and giving a guided tour full of interesting facts. We focused more on neighborhoods (e.g., Society Hill, Italian section, some funky/artsy 'hood decorated with broken tiles and mirrors), rather than the usual colonial stuff--but that was a positive. Anyone can see Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell on their own dimes. We got to see parts of the city that we otherwise would have missed. Bonus: Driving a Segway is crazy fun. Toes to go; heels to slow. An hour was plenty in terms of a calf and Achilles Tendon workout. They also offer a two hour tour. I highly recommend Philly by Segway. We came across a Segway tour offer on Groupon and decided to book a tour for six. When we arrived, we were asked to sign a "no blame injury" form which states they are not liable for any injuries from the Segway. Afterwards, we sat on the bench in the store and watched a short video on how to operate the Segway. The video was more funny than useful, but fortunately, we were given a trial run on the real thing before taking it out to the streets. After the video, each of us took turns getting on the Segway and perfecting our balances. We learned how to stop, turn, and speed up, at the end of the five minute training, we also learned how to do a figure eight around the cones with the Segway. The place offers helmets and lockers to check our purses in as it's not advisable to carry anything while on the Segway. Gloves are also recommended as well. On a side note, there are NO stopping breaks, you will NOT get off the Segway until the end of the tour, so prepare to stand for a long time. Barry, our tour guide, took us around the city and explained its history and significance to society. During various landmarks, he took photos which were send to our email at the end of the trip, free of charge. We had fun riding the Segway on the sidewalks, streets, and waving to pedestrians. The Segway was surprisingly stable and very easy to maneuver. Our tour guide was also careful to ensure none of us are falling behind and inform us where to turn ahead of time. I absolutely do not regret purchasing the tour and all of us had so much fun. We would definitely use a Segway to see another city next time! I definitely recommend everyone to try the Segway tour once. read more

We'd never ridden Segways before, and it was our first time visiting Philadelphia. We have 2 teenagers, 15 & 17. They gave us a good training session, and all of us were real comfortable operating them in pretty short order. The equipment was in good shape, and they used Wallis talkies for the guide to talk to us on the tour. Our guide, Mike, did an excellent job. He was very knowledgeable about Philly, it's history & cultural events, as well as entertaining - even enough for teenagers! We did the 2-hour, 10 mile tour. I surprised a good friend of mine with the 1 hour Segway tour on Saturday, November 5th. First, let me start by saying neither one of us had experience operating a Segway. Barry, our guide and instructor, took the time to properly teach us how to operate it. While on the tour, he made sure we were safe by making sure we kept up with him. He even alerted us when to bend our knees to brace against bumps in the road and the cobblestone streets. Just as he looked after us he taught us so much about Philadelphia. The great thing was I walked away having learned something about my city. While I have lived in Philadelphia for a little over 10 years, I didn't know much about the historical aspect outside of the Liberty Bell. I've done segway tours in multiple cities (Nashville, Dallas, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Chicago, etc.) and this was by far the worst tour I've ever been on. Philadelphia has SOOO much history and fun facts and the only thing I learned on this tour was that was Philadelphia is the mural capital of the world..which google says Los Angeles is. Owen, our guide, was so concerned with riding the segway that he was never pointing things out or telling us facts. There was even times we were stopped waiting for traffic and the tour was dead silent. If you want to ride segways...it's a fun activity. If you want to learn about Philadelphia and see the sites...I would not recommend this tour. read more

My son and I took a 2 hour cheesesteak Segway tour earlier today. We had a really good time. Barry, our tour guide was excellent. You get a quick training session on riding the segways. If anyone is concerned about safety with riding them in the streets of Philly, don't worry. Barry was very good with navigating. Never during the tour was I the least bit concerned about our safety. He took us to five different spots for cheesteaks. I won't say which ones because I don't wanna ruin the surprise for anyone but all are must go to places.
