But in Binghamton, listing apartments on craigslist hasn't caught on. So where does that leave the poor apartment explorer? Up poop's creek. And to be honest, my pride was taking a hit by bringing on a real estate agent. Was I caving in? Giving up? I'm good at finding apartments. I am, damnit! I am. But no. The powers that be demanded a real estate agent. Thus begins our story. We were put in touch with exit realty on a recommendation, and we were given Tom. In many ways, this is more a review of him, rather than the organization. If you're reading this tom, don't worry. I'm not going to be mean. First, to secure his services, we needed to send in the money via cashiers check or money order. I hate it when people and businesses make you do that. Points off! However, when we met him, he was very nice and had a large list of apartments to look at in a single day - 14, I think. That started a pretty good apartment searching day. Some of the places were great, some were awful, some were delighfully tacky (the bathroom with shag carpeting for wallpaper - excellent). But at the end of the day, we found the most amazing apartment we've ever had, and I doubt we would have been able to find it without Tom's help. Searching for apartments with him is like looking for apartments with a drinking buddy. Very casual. He's down to earth. Does not fit your typical mold of a real estate agent. He enjoyed talking about hockey, his son, and gave us an extensive tour of the area. So if you don't have the time to search for an apartment on your own and you're a little nervous about paying for a real estate agent to help you, give Tom a try. We did and emerged very happy from the experience.

Mindy Weidman realtor at this agency came to my home as a guest of her coworker. (Vern Stuart) She…read morerang the doorbell and knocked as if the house was on fire. So my first impression was not good. I quickly moved beyond that and gave a tour of my home to help assess the value. She was constantly checking the time. Turns out she had another appointment following mine (that explains the impatient knocking). Throughout the visit she was a suck up. Saying things like you're so nice, I'd like to be your friend. During this time she said I should probably easily get 150k for the house. A week later she texted me a much lower price. I told her I would not list if that was the best I could get and thanked her for her time. She called me yelling she had spent two hours on the comps and insisted I needed to see the paperwork. I told her I trusted her and did not need to see her papers. Then she says "you are not a nice person" . I hung up.

Don't use Steve Novak for appraisals, either. He did a sloppy job with several major components of…read morethe appraisal missing, and when asked to bring it up to compliance (minimum standards that were not met), he said he just did the appraisal as a favor (for which he charged $1,750), and he has no intention of correcting it. There is not much worse than an arrogant person who does shoddy work. Beware.

I'm a buyer with CASH in hand!!!! I was in the area for the day. Found three houses that I would…read morehave liked to pay CASH for if I could have seen the insides of these homes. I called and left a few messages at there office... No call back... nothing!. After driving around and seeing other for sale sign by Novak & Associates for a Judy. Called Judy an left a message with no reply and it was her listing. Then. Drove on to the next listing and found the listing agent was CONNIE she picked up my call. I asked nicely what my chances were to see her listing in Athens, PA. She laughed and said she NONE because she had dinner plans. I then asked if the office was open on Sundays and she said it wasn't her weekend to be showing houses. Then she tells me I should have called on Thursday to plan on seeing some houses? I didn't know on Thursday that I was going to need a house. You see I'm out her for the weekend looking for a home and I'm from the West Coast. I'm moving my family here for employment. I then told Miss CONNIE that all three of the houses I was looking at were ALL vacant homes. She then started asking if I had a job and if I was new to the area... I already explained to her my situation. then I told Miss CONNIE that I'll just have to find a realtor that's willing to work and is hungry to make a sale. Then Miss CONNIE hung the phone up on me. I just guess CONNIE most not need the money and the poor broker who gave her a job needs to know that CONNIE was terrible and out right RUDE!!! I feel bad for the SELLERS who trust this company to sell their homes and this is how Novak & associates treat BUYERS!!! Thanks so much... KIM!!!

Such a great and easy company to work with! I have been a student renting with them for two years…read morenow and I can not speak highly enough. They are easy to work with and have made the process of finding housing (which can normally be so stressful) pain free! They also have beautiful houses and when we were looking for places, allowed for us to tour so many options. Great company !

Sold my property after a few problems with offers and paperwork…read more initial possible selling price quoted by Realtor was way too low, we insisted that the property should be listed higher and we ended up getting a higher price than listed. Realtor was not proactive and certainly not grateful for the Commission. We would not recommend them.
