Our experience with Tip Top was not fantastic but it was saved in the end by a very helpful, kind, determined manager - Amanda.
My husband had been asked to be a groomsmen in a close friends wedding. He readily accepted and we headed to Tip Top to get him measured and order the suit. This went very smoothly and we were told we'd have the suit a few days before the wedding - they'd call when it arrived.
Several months later, and the week of the wedding, we called them to confirm everything. Yep, all good, should be here Wednesday or Thursday for the Saturday wedding. Perfect. Just enough time that if something doesn't fit or is incorrect, they could fix it.
So, we waited. On Wednesday afternoon we called to check-in - no suit. Probably tomorrow. We called Thursday morning - no suit, probably this afternoon. Called Thursday evening - no suit. We'll call tomorrow when it's in. At this point, we're a little concerned, but we wait for the call.
By Friday at noon, 24 hours before the wedding, we still had not heard anything. So I said eff it, and called with the intention to find this lost suit and retrieve it after work. Oh yes, it was in. No, you can't pick up after work because if it doesn't fit or they need something else ordered then they have to tell Toronto by 5. (insert facepalm here) So I headed off on my lunch to get the suit then run it home to Spryfield for hubs to try (and then run it back to Dartmouth if there was an issue)
When I arrived I was greeted by Amanda who proceeded to give me her card and apologize for the delay in the suit. She told me to call her to let her know if it fit or not, and she'd order whatever we needed - no return trip to the store! THANK YOU!
I took it home and luckily the only thing that didn't fit was the shoes. I called Amanda, relayed this message and she arranged for new shoes to be there the next day (which still didn't fit - big feet!) and the groom would grab them when he picked up his new-sized suit.
We've never had trouble like this renting suits or tuxes from other vendors - for our own wedding or others- but luckily, Amanda was there to make sure my husband, and several other members of the wedding party got the right sizes. Without her it would have been a huge hassle. I won't be recommending these guys any time soon. read more
