This is a precious gem in downtown Grayling. It's a great shop to peruse. I don't care what my mood or what they have added/removed, I am walking out the door with a purchase of something new to me. Today it's table top cornhole boards. The one game even I couldn't lose at! It goes beyond the cute little shop for ice cream and local stuff. They carry many made in Michigan products. They have a nostalgic look at pop AND great ice cream. It's also fun to see the latest find on their shelves. Depending on which doggie is working, you have several petting opportunities. I LOVE this store!!! Thanks to previous Yelpers who pointed me in this direction. They have the very best of all things Michigan! Things you actually want to have or give as gifts, not the touristy junk. And there's a bit of nostalgia thrown in too (I had to have the mix and match Faygo/Town Club) See pics for cool stuff I bought but my fave was the wine slushy mix. I always have to stop in when we come home to visit and there's always something Michigan-themed I have to get (or add to my wishlist). They have everything from clothing and beer to books and artwork to jewelry and home decor. They often have samples (today was two BBQ sauces, asparagus salsa, and toffee), the "pot hole" ice cream is delicious (a kid scoop for $1 is plenty big enough plus they have dog ice cream as well), and they have Faygo in glass bottles! The owners are wonderful, helpful, friendly, and personable. This is definitely worth a visit. read more

Typical tourist shop, but with a twist. The store advertises everything as Michigan made only, from clothing and grocery items to souvenirs. The shop is cute and all, but I wasn't bowled over or anything. Prices were kind of high and there are other similar shops throughout Northern Michigan that sell purely Michigan only products, so I didn't think it was that unique, but I appreciated the thought involved in it. I like the concept behind it, showcasing only Michigan made products. It's a great concept and I thoroughly can get behind that. Michigan has some great things to offer, so why not relish in them? I'm down with that. I poked my head around, saw a few interesting items, but nobody said hello or anything. It wasn't the most friendly vibe, but I didn't mind that much since I was just browsing. Seriously, no one said a word to either myself or my husband. Often, I don't mind that because I hate pushy salespeople, but it was a bit off-putting that no one seemed to notice customers in the store. When browsing, that's fine, but when you are interested in something or require assistance, then it's just rude. Looking around, I saw some nice-looking artwork, some Northern Michigan t-shirts and such, some rustic home decor perfect for a hunting lodge or cabin, and a few run of the mill souvenirs that didn't strike me as terribly unique, along with some "homegrown" food products that I was a tad interested in. Eventually, a maple syrup display caught my eye, but I couldn't find anyone to ring up the purchase, so I left empty-handed. That's too bad because my husband is a maple syrup aficionado, so he was hoping to at least sample it or something. It was a little disappointing, but that's all. I wonder how good the maple syrup might have been. Sigh. If only someone working that day had been interested in making a sale. Would I go out of my way to stop in here again? Probably not. Would I stop in again if in the area just looking to waste an hour or two? Probably. I would just hope someone might actually pop their head out to acknowledge us the next time. read more

My husband and I stopped by Tip'n the Mitten today to browse. I asked the owner if she saw my rave review about the store and she told me Yelp had contacted her saying that they believed the review was fake so they blocked it... That is totally false so I am reposting to say that this store is our favorite place to go in Grayling and the owners are the most friendly people I've met in this city. A cute little touristy store to buy all things Michigan. It's funny because I don't think of vacationland when I think of Michigan but it really is an excellent place to enjoy smalls towns and nature. The prices were actually pretty good for the cheeses and meat. There were some other small things such as local candy too which looked good. read more

Definitely worth checking out. A very diverse stock of Michigan-themed gifts. It is a veteran-owned business, which is always great to see, and it's amazing the diversity of stuff in their store. They have snacks for people and their pets as well. It's definitely a fine addition to that area and I'd shop there again. read more
