Service. Needed emergency roadside assistance with a tire. We were able to get the vehicle off the road and into their parking lot, asked for assistance an hour before they closed, and was blatantly told "no absolutely not" by one of the workers. Spending a week in the local campground and got a hole in one of my truck tires. Went to tire and auto, they were very busy but stopped and repaired the tire correctly ( inside patch) and re-balanced the tire and I was out in less than an hour. Impressive. read more

Odin Jorgenson runs a very fine operation. He is articulate in communicating what needs to be done (and also what could be deferred). On a recent visit there were several possible issues at hand (tires, wheel bearings, etc.) and he and his team sleuthed them out quickly. When an unanticipated 2nd bearing was also needed (but not in stock) he apologized profusely and set up a follow-up appointment with a rush-ordered component, the next AM. His prices are fair. Had a long and worrisome drive down the Gunflint Trail with the low tire pressure warning light beeping at me. Called AAA when I got in cell phone range of Grand Marais. They sent me to Tire and Auto Lodge. Great choice. In less than half an hour the leak was fixed and I was on my way, breathing easier for my 750 mile ride to home in Indiana. After a few phone conversations with the owner of The Tire and Auto Lodge"Craig" decided to do the right thing and called my friend to discuss his issues. They met at the repair facility, he said that "Craig" was very sincere and apologetic. He refunded my friend all of his money for the last repair and said that he hoped he could still help with servicing his vehicles in the future. Good guy and good at what he does. We were stranded in Grand Marais because the starter on our van died. Knowing we were from out of town and needing to get on the road, Craig took our vehicle in right away! Turns out, our van had a secondary problem related to the starter and Craig went above and beyond to make sure our vehicle was repaired same day. My car broke down while our family was on a weekend visit to Grand Marais. Unfortunately, there isn't a great Saturday solution in this small town. However, after the vehicle was towed to his shop, Craig looked at my car first thing on Monday morning. After some intial befuddlement (on the part of the car presented itself), they were able to still quickly determine the problem and get the car working again so that I was on my way home within the hour. Craig and his staff were friendly and sympathetic .... and their billing was very fair. No time is a good time for the car to break down, but it is worse when you feel like you are getting taken to the cleaners by the repair shop. That is one thing you will not have to worry about from Tire & Auto Lodge. They got my car in in a hurry and were able to quickly diagnose a sensor problem and weld a cracked exhaust pipe to get me on the road without spending a fortune.
