I often say that when a restaurant is named after a person, the chances of the food being good increases. And why? Because it takes a lot of guts to do this, slightly egoistic even. First point: if the person that was named the restaurant after is deceased, good food must be made in order to preserve the namesake's honor (ie. Abe Restaurant) 2nd point: if the person named after the restaurant is still living, he or she must do everything to create dishes that are so delicious people will go on remembering the food even after the namesake passes on. (ie. Antonio's Restaurant)
And another restaurant that proves my point is Tita Lenn's Yummies. I came here not too long ago with the prospect of having a traditional Filipino meal with my sister and so we did. Food was distinctively good. The lumpia was amazing, the pancit palabok flavorful and the halo-halo I finished down to the last drop. The place was simple yet it had character. It didn't need to be luxurious looking or anything, after all Tita Lenn was never the type to bother with aesthetics. read more
