    A wonderful place to have Filipino cuisine that is not ordinary. They serve hard to find regional dishes. I had crisp perfectly fried stuffed crabs, sisig with a red hot pepper on top, baby squid (really tiny) sautéed, specially prepared rice cooked in bamboo (a must try), dare for some tiny fried crickets? Don't think about it. They are crunchy and eaten with garlic vinegar. Gising gising is Philippine spinach stalks minced and prepared with coconut milk is also very good. For dessert, the fried Suman which is a sticky rice dessert are served cut up in one inch then fried served with chocolate. It's like the Philippines' answer to Spanish churros. Claud Tayag's special dessert is like pandan Kelly with 2 or 3 pieces of young coconut on vanilla ice cream. You should have a reservation as it gets very full in the evening even on a Thursday night.

    It felt good eating here dinner, the food is really good and the ambiance is relaxing, that's probably because we ate at around 10PM. It was a pleasant dinner, because we were able to eat what we were craving for and the taste that we are expecting was definitely met! The crispy tadyang is perfect! The meat is not too soft and not super chewy. I can taste the crispy-ness in every bite and then it was complimented by the spicy vinegar and the pickled papaya! That is something I'll definitely recommend. The lechon paksiw is OK too, there was not that much of a stand out except for the spicy sauce. The number of skin in the order is also not that much but this was a good partner with the steamy hot white rice! Overall this was a good experience. My son was so fond with their lemon iced tea, it's not your typical US brewed tea that's bland if sweetened it's too sweet.

    We were here at the end of January this year with my husband and his family during our one-week visit in the Philippines. Since this particular trip wasn't for the happiest of occasions (for the funeral of a deceased family member), it was a great temporary distraction when my parents-in-law decided to bring us to this fancy restaurant for lunch on the first day that we arrived to the Philippines. The restaurant is only about 25 minutes (without traffic) from the airport and located in the fanciest neighborhood in Manila, in its well-known business district where a lot of major corporations are situated. It is surrounded by other retail shops and the decor and setup reminded me of previous sites in California that I have visited. When we arrived, we experienced a bit of a wait time but we soon realized that the overall experience was well worth the wait. Pros: -You get to dine in a nice fancy and safe neighborhood with friendly staff that treats visitors like they are VIPs. I got to practice my Tagalog when conversing with our waiter and he encouraged and patiently interacted with me whose knowledge of the language is at amateur level. -The staff are patient at accommodating any special requests. For safety reasons, since my immune system is weak, I requested for no ice in my drink and they were really nice about it and actually listened. -You get to enjoy some unique specialty dishes on the menu, which you have never heard of before. We tried their whole roasted frog, which was delicious and almost tasted like chicken. Until this experience, I never thought frog was edible. -The food portions are family style, which allow you to order a variety of dishes that can be shared among a large group like us. This allowed me to eat light and take only small portions at a time rather than being overwhelmed with a large heavy entree. -The place is well-ventilated and our table area had a beautiful view of the outside. Cons: -Wait times are long, for those of you who lack patience. -Prices are on the expensive side as expected because of the restaurant's location. -Washrooms are singles rather than multiple stalls but they are very clean, fancy, and well-maintained. Overall, I had fun experiencing the fancy side of the Philippines at this restaurant. I personally would limit my visits here to special occasions only but that decision is solely based on my personal financial situation and has nothing to do with the quality and service of this restaurant.

The restaurant itself has a great vibe!!! lively but not too loud. The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially since I wasn't too familiar with Filipino dishes. They explained what everything was and even suggested a few must-tries. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the Philippines. And I'll definitely come back next time!

The bitter melon and the kombucha squash were steamed well. The pork was super crunchy!!! The sauce was slurry and not too thick. The string beans, banana heart (puso ng saging) and bok choy were steamed and cooked well. They were not soggy but crunchy. Also the eggplant was fried and added with the sauce. When you order kare kare it automatically comes with sautéed shrimp paste. This dish alone will probably feed 4 people. Overall the service was great, we did not wait long for the food, and we were seated right away since we arrived there around 11:45ish. The restaurant was clean and quite cozy. There's one bathroom for both genders. Total of all the meals including 1 sugarcane calamansi juice refill P1745.00 (also includes gratuity charges).

Back then, if you've been living in Manila for most of your life, the words "food" and "court" in the same sentence never really sounded appetizing. Enter Hole in the Wall. I've been here a few times already, but stepping inside its huge hip maze of interiors never ceases to excite me. I'm not sure if it's the thrill of choosing what meal to try next or just the nice aesthetic of literally everything, that excites me more. On my first visit, I made sure to first try the super popular fried chicken from Bad Bird. As a big fan Southern-style fried chicken, I wasn't disappointed. The crispy skin had a yummy seasoning that's new to the palette, very different compared to my other favorites, such as the Chickenjoy from Jollibee and the Pan Fried Chicken from Pancake House. And there's something about their side dishes that just completes the whole meal. The corn on the cob with bonito flakes, sweet and umami flavors melting in your mouth, was to die for. The coleslaw provided a nice acidic break from the saltiness of the chicken. The meal was a fun experience itself. Just the other day, I tried the Pastrami on Rye from Mr. Delicious and it was monstrous--just plain impressive in terms of size. I didn't even attempt to bite on the entire stack, using my fork and knife like a pretentious chick on a first date instead. Each bite off the monster-wich was packed with so many different flavors, though the pastrami still easily emerges as the hero of the dish. And let's not get started on the sweet potato chips. I'm not a big sweet potato-lover, but damn, the portion was more than satisfying. If there's anything I'd like modified, I just wish there was a bit more of the veggie pickles to cut through all the meat and fat. For now, I'll end this review right here. If it isn't yet so obvious, I'll probably be back here in no time to try a different food stall or two.
