Went to cash a check for 1380 today- they were going to charge $73 to cash it... when Walmart or…read moreH‑E‑B charges $7 or $8. They were the first place I went to because they were so close to my house- when I was told how much it would be, I cancelled it. However, before I was told the total- the woman asked for my social security number, then wrote it down on a piece of paper as well as my address. Once I cancelled, I asked for the paper she wrote my social down on so I can properly discard of it- she said she had other information on there she needed of her own, and she would shred it, she said this while folding the paper- I asked if I could see her shred it due to it being important information of mine and she said ok. I'm 90% sure she grabbed a different piece of paper and threw it into the shredder because this paper was not folded like the one that had my information on it I left very sketched out, and I realize I should have pressed harder to get my information but it just seemed like I would get the run around anyway- I did get her name and of course, I know she works there so if anything pops up credit that I did not authorize- I'll know where to circle back to. Would not recommend to cashing your checks or money orders here.
