Got my hair cut recently by the living legend himself at Tito's Barber Shop in downtown Waco. Tito has been cutting hair in the same shop for 50 years. It would be worth the wait just to hear him tell stories. But that day was slow, so I was seated right away. Fortunately that also meant afterwards I had the opportunity to remain engrossed until his current yarn wrapped up. We were all finished and as I was paying he looked at me, paused, adjusted his glasses and said "hey Steve, you want a little trim on that shaggy beard?" Mario did a great job. He has been cutting hair since 1971 and charged me $11. Not bad. The ambiance has not changed much since 1971, it has your typical barber shop feel. Nothing like a great clips or sport clips. If you are looking for a good, competent, classic cut- this is your place. Also good to support small business and converse with the common man. Very important--the address in Apple maps is incorrect and they do not take credit cards! I would normally remove a few stars for this but the cut itself was too good. These guys are very old school. Tito's Downtown is the best! Phillip is the man! He gives fantastic haircuts and I can't imagine going anywhere else, especially when the price is so cheap at $11 a cut! I've been going for the past two years while I attended Baylor and it is definitely a real barbershop. I've heard that it's been called "stuck in the 60's" as it's so old but that doesn't really bother me, it's not like hair cutting techniques need advanced technology anyways. The barbers love to talk about sports, Baylor, Waco, anything really. Phillip is also really good at understanding what I wanted even though I knew nothing about haircuts. I always got a 0-8 fade when I went in and he always did it perfectly! He was really understanding of my requests and seemed to just nail it every time. Couldn't be happier with the cuts, and I'm sad I'm moving to Dallas as it will be hard to find a good barber for this price. Great cut in the manly atmosphere of a traditional style barbershop. I had my cut done by Mario, who did a great job. He asked me ahead of time what I wanted and kept checking to make sure id gotten what I wanted. He used a straight razor on the back of my neck, which I liked and also periodically brushed the back of my neck with a powdered brush, which smelled nice. Overall, I liked the atmosphere (just guys and a game on, very quiet and no conditioner or perm smells like you get in a unisex salon) and the price ($11 for a regular cut) as well as chatting with the two barbers running the place. I'll be back when I need another cut and maybe I'll opt for a shave next time, too. read more

I rode the bus downtown today for the sole purpose of checking this place out. I have been searching in vain for a real old fashioned barber shop since moving to Waco in August 2013 and today I checked Tito's place out based on the other reviews I read here. I'm happy to say I've found my barber in Waco now. It's just like the others said, except now it costs $11 but that is still a fantastic price especially considering what you get. Southern gentlemen that know how to cut a man's hair and do it with class in a friendly environment, instead of an overpriced chop job from the haircut mills full of brainless twats texting on their phones and shouting to each other across the room...truly sad that this kind of place is going extinct. read more

I received the worst haircut I have ever had in my life here. The lengths are all uneven by over an inch. The barber gave me an unwanted beard trim. I specifically told him just a haircut. He literally butchered my beard so bad that I had to shave it off when I got home. I am very upset with this shop and will tell everyone I know to avoid this place.
