Not sure where to start. First off the employees that answer the phone are super nice and helpful. However, if you decide to complain a little about a rushed haircut or leaving your root touch-up with a ton of dye on your face, then going to another stylist will be awkward. It seems like you're not as welcomed, and they are scared to touch your head as you might complain about them. Brook trimmed my hair and acted liked she was in such a rush! For example, I would leave there with water splashed on my face from the shampoo bowl, and sometimes soap got on my face. She looked at her cell phone a lot during my shampoo, and cut! There were times she would be using a round brush SO fast that I would have scratch marks on my neck, and when she rolled the hair, it would wrap some of it around the handle of her brush and pull hairs out! OUCH! Then I came back for Suzie to do my hair. I just wanted a different experience. My color was not in their system like they said it would be, and Suzie had to leave and talk to Brook about what my color was. It was an awkward feeling appointment, and oddly, the owner kept going into the hutch I was sitting in front of closely about 6 different times to get products or supplies out. Suzie, kept telling me how much she liked Brook!? Then when I called to reschedule my follow-up Saturday appointment, they could not find me in their books! I was missing! I had scheduled another appointment when I left and it was two months in advance. I never complained about her, not once! However, noticed my hair color was fading from my roots! I use filtered water to avoid chlorine, wash my hair twice a week, and use Pureology shampooed! A $96 + tip root touch-up should not have faded. read more

My wife has had excellent experiences here but I have been twice with two separate stylists for a men's cut and unfortunately I haven't been impressed either time. I asked for a fade up the sides and it was very poorly done, I even asked before I left if she could blend it a little more but there is still a very distinct line in my hair. I went in for a color consultation with Cherie. I had moved to the area a short while ago and was trying to find a good salon. I had tried another fancy one in the area and had a terrible experience, so I was apprehensive. I knew ahead of time I was asking for something difficult, going from a fashion color to a more natural one... and on the opposite ends of the color spectrum at that. Cherie was polite and professional during our consultation and assured me she could handle it. And boy did she ever. The particular red I want is something I had a very hard time getting back in my home state. I would ask for copper and get auburn, or even mahogany. Cherie aced it on the first try. It is -perfect-. I have zero complaints. She made awesome product suggestions, kept me updated on what she was doing to my hair as she did it, and overall gave me a fantastic experience. I found this salon using Yelp. I just moved to the Waco area. I made an appointment with Suzie and I have seen her 3 times now for a haircut. She is really good. I like her a lot and she does listen to what I want, and makes suggestions, which I appreciate. Being new to the area, finding services can be very frustrating, but this was easy. They also have a great website where you can check out each stylists' bio and choose your best fit. Also can book online, which makes it very easy, appointments confirmed by text, etc. read more

Go get your lashes done by Angie!! I have been getting complements from friends and strangers alike, many of whom even assumed they were my own natural lashes. When I came in for a fill, my lashes were a little messy and clumped together from the last person who did my lashes (at a salon in a different city). I recently moved to Waco and had a cut and gloss in March that went really well. I tried to get in with the same stylist in May for a cut, but she wasn't available. The receptionist ensured me I'd be able to get a great cut with another stylist, so I came in for the cut in early May. When I got home, I realized after washing my hair that she hadn't done a very good job around my ears, as I have very short hair that requires precision cutting around the ears, which I'd asked her to do. I emailed the salon the next day and left a review on the text I'd received both asking that I be contacted to come in and have it fixed. Sadly, no one has responded to either message. I wouldn't have made any comments, and just lived with the cut, but when you pay over $60 plus tip for a 30 minute cut, you hope they'll respond to concerns from clients. read more

Me and my boyfriend went for haircuts at the same time. My hair was shorter than my boyfriend's and in a similar style. The style that we each wanted our hair to be in was similar as well. So it surprised me when my haircut costed sixteen dollars more than his. Both of us received the same service even though his was labeled a "Men's Cut" and mine a "Women's Cut and Style" yet my hair cut was more expensive. I couldn't seem to get a clear answer on their reasons for pricing it this way. It seems completely unfair for the pricing to be dependent on gender. I also asked for specific services. She either never checked in with me to see if I liked what she was doing or didnt do what I asked... Also, if you aren't Christian, you might feel out-of-place. Having recently established myself in Waco, I'm still looking for my standard places - Dry cleaning, salon, etc. I planned on trying a few different hair places and this was at the top of my list, but I'll definitely be staying! For things like this I prefer to go local rather than chain. Cutting edge had a great atmosphere and when I needed a quick trim the online scheduling system made it easy to find a time that worked without the hassle of over the phone "Well, does this work?" etc. The stylists were very professional and so sweet! I loved the professional salon with a Texas hometown feel. My stylist, Cherie, listened and gave me exactly what I was looking for! I've found this is actually a rare trait in a stylist, and one that I very much appreciate. My hair can easily be curly or straight, and this cut looks perfect for both! More often than not after getting it cut it only looks good one way or the other, and as a result it would stay pinned up in a ponytail. I also found the prices incredibly reasonable. Coming from Dallas I'm used to $60-80 minimum for a cut, wash, and style, but my total here was only $40. Looking forward to next time, ladies! :) read more

I came in to see Candice for a haircut and she did a wonderful job! I paid $50, which is alittle more than I usually would pay for a haircut but I do have thick hair and the cut probably took an hour or so. I'll be going back later on for another haircut and most likely a color touch up. Candice was very precise in her cuts, she checked her work and made sure it was spot on. She took her time which I definitely appreciated! There was a small wait, maybe 20 minutes but I didn't mind as I was 15 min late anyway. The staff is friendly, I brought my 8 week old son and Mom to watch him while I got the haircut and it went smoothly, luckily! There's a cute waiting area upstairs where my family sat. I also saw another Mom with her kids come in for a treatment so I felt a little better about the environment. Overall, good experience and I am very happy with my haircut! read more

I spent around $450 on Full Balayage and hair products. I liked the color but not the fact that it was not done till almost my roots. When I tied my hair, no color showed on the crown of my head. I went back in expecting a free service but paid $40 for very tiny pieces of hair around my face with a new hairdresser (not her fault). The new hairdresser did not take the bleach up to the roots as I desired. What a waste of money I feel. I am never going back to The Cutting Edge Salon. The owner of this salon brings all of her problems into the workplace (she's heard talking about them constantly and lets it affect her attitude) and is unprofessional. If you say or do one thing she doesn't like, she immediately aquires an adolescent attitude and becomes very immature. Most of the girls have similar high school-like drama filled mindsets and can be heard speaking negatively about their clients and the clients of others. I had the misfortune of going there a little over a year ago with a group of friends and the "stylist" completely messed up my haircut and eyebrow wax. When I said something, she proceeded to look at me like I was crazy and that it was only because I was moving too much . What??! She refused to refund my money or offer anything to make up for it. A friend tried it again very recently and she said the service was HORRENDOUS! Being the nice person that she is, she did'nt say anything about the haircut they messed up again. She had to go to another salon to get it fixed. No more chances for this place and will be letting all friends and family know to never set foot here! read more

I've been to Tad several times now and cannot say enough good things about this salon! The receptionist is always super sweet and quick to offer water or soda while I wait to get my hair done. I'm really picky about my layers and Tad is great at getting the exact look I want. I love that I can walk in, ask for a trim and ONLY get a trim instead of walking away with 2 or 3 inches of hair chopped off. He's super easy to talk to and just a great stylist overall.
