The big box hardware stores sell everything that TLC sells, except the larger variety of plants. Fertilizer, perlite, vermiculite, topsoil, and garden tools are all almost double the cost at TLC. I can understand the "shop local" mentality helps smaller businesses, but I do not want to pay $71 after tax for something I can get at Home Depot for $40 after tax. Specific Items I compared that day: - Perlite at TLC was about $14 - Vigoro ($6 at HD - Miracle Grow)) - Vermiculite at TLC was about $14 - Vigoro ($8 at HD - Miracle Grow) - 20 x seed starter compostable pots were about $15 at TLC ($5 at HD for 50) - The top soil was close to the same. read more

When my father passed away 20 years ago, I kept one of the plants from his funeral. I think it's technically called a Chinese Evergreen but I call him "Fernando." Fernando has been with me through moving across country and back, and he has always been healthy. Recently his leaves started curling up and withering, so much that he was half of his usual size. I can't bear losing him for (obvious) sentimental reasons, so I stopped by TLC to pick up some supplies to replant him as a last ditch effort to save him. An employee named Anna offered to help me. When I told her about Fernando, and how I am not very good with plants, she told me to bring him to the nursery and she would take a look at him. I brought him to her the next day, Anna was so kind -- she discovered he had almost no viable roots and mites. She removed all of the problem areas, treated him with tea tree oil, and repotted him. She also took a cutting and put it in a root boost water solution in a bottle. After giving me detailed instructions, I took Fernando and his little cutting home. The nursery only charged me a few dollars for everything Anna did! Today Fernando and his "baby" are thriving again and growing. I am so grateful to TLC and especially to Anna for saving him. I was overwhelmed with Anna's patience, compassion and genuine care for me and my plant. She didn't have to do all that she did, but I am so grateful for her immense kindness. She is a top notch employee and just a really good human. A few weeks later I was looking for a gift for a family member and decided to get a small tree, so of course I went to TLC! I owe Anna lots of return business (and hugs) for the generosity of the time she spent to help me. read more

I was on another hunt for succulents at the TLC Garden Centers on NW Expressway as it has been on my list since my last nurseries research on Yelp. We were in the area running an errand so the husband made the stop for me. Their shop was spacious and had everything a home gardener would need, from bags of mixes to tools and cute planters, but me and my one track mind sent me barreling through to their greenhouse on the hunt for succulents rather than stopping to look at anything else. I was welcomed by a myriad of colour popping blossoms and endless plumes of green leaves as I stepped out to the enormous greenhouse. My eyes scanned the plants and my legs carried me swiftly towards the other end of the greenhouse where rows and shelves of succulents sat. There were so many kinds, several of which I've never seen at other places before and they got me very excited. They also had plenty of babies in 2-inch pots exactly what I was looking for. Succulents do tend to thrive on neglect and are drought tolerant, however, my only negative comment here would be that some of them looked too neglected and uncared for. I decided against taking home a couple that I really wanted for fear my brown thumb wouldn't be able to revive them. All in all, the visit was pleasant, the staff were friendly, I picked up some new succulents, and the husband was happy with the prices. read more

The TLC on Northwest Expressway is not as large as the one on Memorial. Consequently, they don't seem to have the variety and volume of the main store. I went by today because I had a twenty percent off coupon, and a lot of vegetable plants to purchase. As usual, they did not have everything I needed on my list. I did pick up what they had, but it left me needing more. As always, the staff was super friendly and helpful. My only issue is the size of the location. read more

They have so many varieties of plants and most have tags that tell sun exposure. I'm kind of a needy plant shopper so I try to go when it's not super busy so I can ask all of questions in hopes of turning my thumbs a little more green. ;-) They typically have two registers going but if not and staff see the line begin to get long, they will quickly step in to get things moving. Wife an I for years went to Lowe's an other garden centers, made a trip to TLC an saw all the plants an flowers we were missing out on. We pass by a lot of garden centers to get to TLC, so I try to call TLC to see if they had some grass I wanted( an it was grass to plant in the flower bed not the grass people smoke)no one would answer the phone! The recording said they were to busy to answer the phone!!! Didn't want to drive 25 miles to find out if they had the grass or not , so I dropped in to Lowe's , they had it! (O I call Lowe's they answered the phone an said they had it!!!!) still really like TLC but Lowe's is just a few miles away! Time is money. read more

I judge a company not by what happens when things are going right, but how the company reacts when things go wrong. That is the true indicator of the company culture and its commitment to customer service. Without getting into specifics, I recently had an experience where I would have been out $400. Technically, TLC garden center was correct and did not owe me a dime. My first contact with TLC told me just that. Then I was contacted by the President of TLC. Due to the unusual circumstances, he was going to provide a partial refund. A classic case of "doing things right" versus "doing the right thing". Fortunately for me (and others I'm sure) TLC chooses to do the right thing. We all know the wide selection of plants and trees. We also know of the very knowledgeable and long-tenured staff. I can attest to a positive customer-oriented culture that goes from the President on down. You may pay a little more, but you get what you pay for. read more

Being new to Oklahoma from the Pacific Northwest I was delighted to find this nursery and every visit and phone call has gifted me with excellent customer service from professional, friendly and knowledgeable employees. It becomes obvious very quickly that I am not a gardening savant! So I have appreciated suggestions and polite intelligent patient answers to all my questions leaving me feeling more in control and informed. These folks know everything about plants planting and availability, just ask. Normally I scan all reviews before visiting any new place. So to the fellow who only gave 2 stars complaining he watched 2 outside employees finish helping their customers and then felt ignored, why didn't he just ask them for help? Perhaps they just didn't see him while he saw them, was it a test? Because how much effort does it take being proactive enough to ask for help? I mean really... I just bought a house last year and there is a lot of landscaping that needs to be done and I can recommend that this is the place to go. read more

Can't believe I'm the first one to review this local gem. I've been buying my garden goodies at TLC since I bought my house near here 4 years ago. First of all, and always important in my book is that it's an Oklahoma business. Secondly, almost anything plant based you want is here. Errr...to rephrase... anything plant based and legal is here. Walking through their semi-outdoor greenhouse is almost a Zen experience. Very beautiful flowers, trees, vines, bushes, or anything else that puts down roots is available. I've got some Russian Sage, Butterfly Bush and Texas Lilac that I bought here - and they come back healthy every year. I also buy my bird seed and dried corn for the critters here too. The dried corn I need to placate the army of ingrate squirrels that hang out on my deck, eating all the bird food and giving my cat the finger. Yeah, you could buy cheaper at Wal-Mart, but I'm betting the plants wouldn't be as healthy nor the selection as large. Plus you get that warm fuzzy from buying local. Maybe not basket of kittens warm fuzzy, but close enough. read more

I went to this TLC today. I wore a mask. There was a sign on the door asking that everyone maintain appropriate social distancing of at least 6 feet. However, none of the staff wore masks. There was no shield at the checkout counter between the cashier and the customer. Not really able to maintain a distance of six feet there. Flowers were beautiful, great selection--I would rate them a 5. As to concern for their customers' safety and well-being, they get a zero. Very disappointed in them! read more

Now that I'm married to a gardener, I pay a lot more attention to plants and flowers. We've spent a lot of time on our yard this spring and summer, but I wouldn't necessarily say we've spent a lot of money, thanks to TLC. Things here are always a good deal and they often have specials, but this weekend's moonlight madness sale was unlike anything I've ever seen. We left with tons of plants, for about $130. Our yard is turning into quite the little oasis. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and they also have a 10% Yelp Check In offer. I am an avid gardener and I'm really picky when it comes to my flower beds. I can always count on TLC Garden Centers to have the best annuals and perennials. The whole staff are extremely helpful and I can always count on Sue (the MGR) to help me with any questions I might have concerning my trees. Last night I called ahead of going to the store to have 3 flats of Pansies ready for me to pick up before they closed in 30 min. The MGR asked me what colors do I need them to be and she had 3 perfect flats ready for me to pick up. Now that's what I call service and taking care of a customer...!! read more

Very pleased with our experiences here. Visited once to select some trees for our home. Nice selection and very knowledgeable staff around to help with all our questions. The mini bottles of water were a nice touch in the greenhouses and made the shopping more bearable in the heat. The crew came today and planted our order. I know WHAT!!!! A two star when everyone is giving them a 5 star. Well based on my most recent experience that i got.. which was the one of the worst shopping experiences - I think I'm being quite fair. I waited 30 minutes before someone even acknowledged me...even though there were no other customers (Not sure if they thought that I worked there? Or maybe thought I looked like a professional gardner.. that had it all under control?) I knew exactly what i wanted so i was walking around the outside plants...waited patiently for the 2 outside sales people to help their current customers..... only for them to just ignore me? Thankfully some other guy eventually came up and asked me if i wanted help and got me what I needed. Just overall not a good experience. Needed 2 large plants for the front of the house -- and ended up spending close to $300. I hope the plants last... this price also includes the delivery and planting.... which hopefully is a much better experience. UPDATE.... the TLC team came and delivered and planted the plants. Did a really nice job. Left the area nice and clean. Plants look good. The staff also reached out to me and apologized for my bad experience. Based on that updating my review and stars. read more

This year I purchased 6 bushes from TLC for $170. They were a little over-priced but, they seemed healthy so, I talked myself into spending the money. All but one are now dead. I tried to replace them but was told that no returns could be made as it was more than 90 days since I had made my purchase. I said that Wal-Mart gives a 1 year warranty on their bushes. His response was, "Well that's OK, if you want to buy from a box store". Well, I now own 1 live bush from TLC that cost me $170. I think that I can find better value at almost ANY OTHER retailer, even a "box store". read more
