I needed the rear brakes replaced and honestly I was worried about the cost. Tony set up an appointment to first look at the brakes to see just how bad they were, and then worked in a discount for being military/veteran. I was amazed at how much the cost for the repair was. All three parties dealt with this. All are trustworthy and told me it needed a minor repair like a muffler. Big A Auto told me the entire under area of car had been messed up from someone who didn't know what they were doing. He said it'd be $2,000 to fix it. At the time I thought maybe the college driver had let someone work on it so I paid it. My mistake as I didn't take time to think it thru. I know the folks I bought it from were honest and long time friends. Big A lied. They showed me of a fuzzy gray video t was supposed to be the problem area but of course it meant nothing to me and was just part of the deception. I will never go back to Big A again. Since I am an older woman needing the service I think they felt they could lie to me about the car.

However, when we went to leave, our van produced an awful grinding sound from the right rear wheel. Of course this also had to be Labor Day when everything was closed. I had made many calls around town trying to find anyone who could fix it, but no one was answering. Shortly after, I got a call back from Mike at Deutmeyer Auto Advantage asking if I had an issue. I asked if he was working today, and he said they were closed up but could be if we needed him and to swing on by with the van. Mike and Neela (official shop greeter) were already waiting for us when we arrived. Despite the holiday closings, he was able to find the required parts necessary for our repair to get us going on our 9-hour return trip back home. Mike was an absolute hero coming in on a day their shop was closed just to fix up the van of a couple of tourists. We truly enjoyed our time in Dyersville. The city is peaceful and has that charm of a small, American town. The true gem, though, is the people. People like Mike. Someone who goes out of his way to rescue a stranger in need because he can and truly wants to help. Not only did he help, but he asked if we'd had breakfast yet and offered one of their loaners to just head into town and grab a bite or go back to see the Field of Dreams more as he worked alone on our van on a day off. Mike is truly the purest example of old-fashioned, American hospitality. He got the rotor and brakes fixed up perfectly, and they were smooth all the way back home. I HIGHLY recommend Deutmeyer for any of your automotive needs. The service there is truly beyond belief. The quality of work is great.
