The only con is that you do have to pay for parking in the garage ($5) versus an open parking lot, but at least you know your vehicle is secured! The biggest difference is the seating--here, the seats fully recline and include footrests, so you can stretch out comfortably. The seats also feel wider and more cushioned than at MarqE. The audio quality is solid, and the overall theater feels modern and well maintained. One downside during my visit was that my seat was very dirty--it looked like someone had spilled a drink on it, and the entire front of the seat was sticky and wet. I had to move to a different seat, but there were very limited options left, so I wasn't able to sit next to my partner, which was a big inconvenience. Tickets can be a bit pricey, likely because of the location, but Regal's Tuesday discounts help a lot--you can often get tickets for around $8, especially for matinee showings. Parking is available in the attached garage for $5, which is convenient since there's very limited street parking in the area. Staff were friendly during my visit, and the theater has multiple screens with a good variety of movies. Overall, this is easily one of the best movie theaters inside the loop, and I'd still recommend it.

We were not happy. The ticket agent at the front notified the manager who came to talk to us, get some clarification on what had happened and see what he could do to remedy the situation. He (regretfully we did not get his name) went above and beyond to make us happy. He had seats and a table moved into an available space, provided ticket passes and numerous other compensation for the missed step in ticket rescheduling. We had a wonderful experience watching the movie in comfort with good food and spot on service. We will definitely be returning. Any establishment that provides such high quality service deserves much support!

Tickets were on the pricier end especially since it was a Thursday night, but not a big deal. The workers were friendly, and the seats were EXTREMELY comfortable & cushy... I still think about them to this day... I also thought it was nice how movie viewers could order food and the workers would come serve it on a platter! I'm not too familiar with any deals or memberships that the River Oaks Theatre may have compared to its big name competitors, but I highly recommend everyone to experience a film here at least once! Also there is ample parking nearby, but can't speak on it too much since I was dropped off.

The welcoming team was friendly from the moment we walked in, and the bartender was wonderful. Even though they were out of every wine I asked for (seven different selections!), she really tried her best to find something I'd enjoy. The only wines available were bottles at a much higher price point, which was disappointing. I'm still wondering what happened to their wine selection. Hubby did enjoy a nice cold beer served in a frosty glass, and that was perfect. Dinner was actually pretty good. The steak was cooked perfectly, and the lobster mac and cheese was tasty, although there wasn't much lobster to be found. Now for the theater itself... The seats are definitely showing their age and are getting a little rickety. Service was almost nonexistent. The one bright spot was a food runner who kindly pointed us to the QR code for the menu and even offered to bring us a printed menu. He was great. We ordered our movie snacks, but that's where things really went downhill. The popcorn was as stale as stale can be, the M&M's tasted old and a little funky, and somehow my club soda came with about four ice cubes and wasn't even very refreshing. The movie itself was good, and we still enjoyed having a much-needed date night together. Overall, though, it's sad to see this theater slipping because it used to be the place to go. I really hope they can turn things around. In the meantime, we'll be on the hunt for a new favorite theater. I'd love to hear everyone's recommendations!

Tickets are cheap: $30 each. Wine was a rip-off at $20 a glass for table wine (cocktails at iPic are $10). We ordered two glasses without realizing it'd be $40. The bartender had already pour our glasses before we could change our mind (and wish she would have alerted us that for $10 more we could have purchased the entire bottle... So almost $100 later, we are in theater 7 where it was stuffy and hot as hell; people were sweating. I had my jeans rolled up to my knees and eventually went to the concession stand for cups of ice water and they gave me cardboard boxes to serve as a fan. That's just ridic. Def can't blame the staff because they're mostly teens. But management, corporate, and even Nicole Kidman--take notice and fix this stat. For now, we're just gonna go to iPic because you spend about the same amount and for a much more enjoyable movie experience.

And for the non-conformist in you, some of their films are more small-time and obscure than what you'd find at the MFA. They're hosting a few different film festivals this year, including an Asian film festival and a Latin American film festival. And they sometimes host Q and A's with the filmmakers, which brings alot of energy to the screenings. Obviously, it comes with the inherent pitfall of any art film venue.. you can see some real stinkers there. But another day, you'll catch something cool and memorable that you would never have seen anywhere else. There are a few cons: First and foremost, it's CASH ONLY and there isn't a convenient ATM nearby. Second, parking is confusing since it's on the Rice campus. And finally, there's no concession stand. The film calendar on their website is well-kept now, and is updated regularly. http://film.rice.edu/Events.aspx
