I had high hopes when I met with Dan, the marketing guy from TNT Decking about tearing out our old concrete front porch and installing a new wood deck. He was pleasant and friendly and convinced me that his teammates did excellent work, but...marketing people sometimes spin fancy words. That's why they're good at what they do. But...Dan's teammates were NOT what he promised. I won't go into excruciating detail about all the ups and downs of the L-O-N-G process, but suffice it to say: we contracted with them in July for an October start (which was bad enough, but we knew about COVID-related delays so we were ok with that.) BUT...November came and went with no word from anyone. When I called to follow up, the Foreman acted like a whiney baby, making excuses about *how hard his job was!* - and...there were so many typos in his text, I could barely read it! Totally unprofessional on both counts. This went on a few more times: I followed up, and they made excuses for the delay. Finally, just before Christmas, they dropped off the materials at our house. We thought, "Finally!" But it was another three weeks before the crew showed up. And...when they finally did, *they had no idea* of the scope of the project! They didn't have specs, they didn't have the jackhammer they needed to remove the old concrete, and the didn't have the industrial dumpster needed to haul away the debris!! The crew left that morning, without saying a word. Just disappeared. When I called the Foreman again, another lame excuse. More delays. Early in the process, I asked Dan for his recommendations for a concrete contractor for after the deck was done. (We needed new sidewalks around the new deck.) He referred me to a guy named Eddie. Eddie made a meet-up appointment with me for an evening in September. I left work early to get there by 4:30 to accommodate his schedule, and he called me 10 minutes before I got home to ask if he could come the next night instead. I agreed. The next night? He never called, and he never showed up. Never heard from him again. By the time they finally finished the deck *at the end of January,* it was too cold and snowy for the new concrete contractor we hired to pour the new sidewalk we need, so, ever since, we haven't been able to use our front door. In and out through the garage only. When I suggested a discount on the project from TNT due to their company's several errors, poor communication, and three month delay in completing the job, they said no. Can't do that. Really...can't??? So I immediately knew my only recourse was writing a cautionary review. Note: the deck itself looks nice. But the ridiculous clown show of ineptitude we had to deal with makes me confident that ANY other decking company would have been a better choice. read more

I cannot believe these positive reviews. Not quite two years ago, TNT removed a small concrete patio, three concrete steps, and a small wooden pergola, then installed a deck, pergola, and planter. We had problems throughout installation, and it was difficult to get the project manager to actually manage. Where to start... The support posts are not true vertical. The wrong fasteners were used in much of the Timbertech project. Now the ends of some planks are detaching. I don't think the workers had a level. If they did, they did not use it. The railings are all different heights. They did come back and try to fix the issue, but after doing some terrible repairs, we asked them to stop. Now one of the rails has become detached from its post. We have one set of three very wide steps which were to have two lights installed in each riser. Without checking the plans, they installed only one light in the middle of each step (not the two spaced apart as listed) and mailed us three lights months after the job was finished. We have a small deck off our bedroom that overlooks the pergola on the new deck, so we see the top of the pergola every time we look out from the bedroom. The screws that attached the louvers to the rafters were mostly installed in straight lines, but many of the screws were so out of line that it looked terrible. TNT's fix was to put new screws lined up correctly and fill the old holes with caulk. We now have water entering the louvers where the caulk was placed and leaking out the ends of the louvers. They installed a small concrete pad at the base of two steps that lead to the driveway. To say they did not smooth out the concrete would be an understatement. We later had some hardscape installed by Green Revolution (which did great work) and they removed the concrete and replaced it with pavers. I could go on, there's more, but you get the picture. We paid a lot for what we thought would be quality work. I cannot say any part of the job could be considered quality. Save yourself aggravation and money. Go with another company. read more

Roy, Tad, Bo and Team just completed a beautiful Alumawood Pergola project on my patio deck. These guys were the best from Sales, Engineering, a couple of change requests and customizations, build, cleanup, and return for finish work. I've hired TNT for two different projects on my house and I've been very happy with their work. I recently brought them out for a quote to replace some bulging siding. Out of the 6 or so quotes, the TNT rep was the only person to point out that the problem with my siding was caused by an issue in the attic. I spent 140,000 for a large garage and shop. Prior to my final payment, I asked for several repairs. The most pressing was a side of the garage was leaking onto two windows. The windowsills look years old from constant water dripping inside from the roof. The final payment was made 15 months ago. Calls for repair fall on deaf ears. I am not a fan. Good luck. read more

I requested the service of TnT to build a deck for me that was to be constructed with a Trex steel frame, Trex decking, and Trex hidden fasteners. The salesman that conducted the proposal told me Trex was a bad product and that Timbertech was much better, particularly in Colorado. He went further to say that Timbertech has a much better warranty and stands behind their product in a much more comprehensive manner. I accepted the terms that he promised. The deck was to have two sets of stairs and a removable hatch over the window well to our basement. We were promised that they would come out prior to construction and remove the concrete stoop that was at our back sliding glass door. We were asked to pay a $5,000 deposit to which I objected and agreed to $1,000. The agreement was made in the early part of September of 2012. One month later we had still not seen any construction - call upon call did not render results. Finally almost two months later a delivery of materials shows up in the street in front of my house - no call, just a delivery. A few days later a construction crew shows up unannounced and begins working on the deck. The stoop was being removed by jack-hammer and I was not home. I get a call from my wife and I then hurry home to see what is going on. The crew was unable to complete the removal of the stoop and left after a couple of hours. The next morning they returned to continue to remove the concrete stoop and I hear a loud noise come from the direction of my sliding glass door. When I went outside I saw the damage to my door and the crew leader accepted responsibility. TnT suggested a repair method of caulking the damage - it looked terrible. They then agreed to put a piece of vinyl over it - it popped off in two days of cold weather. They agreed to replace the door. I got them the model number and make of my door and waited until April 2013 for the replacement. The contractor who came to replace the door said he worked for TnT, but not directly??? My laminate floor was damaged by this crew while removing the old door. The construction issues with the deck were noticed right away with regards to screw types being used. The Timbertech deck traditionally uses a screw that blends well with the color so it looks professional, they used an alternate screw that was horrible - leaving the appearance of black dots as a result of the screw heads, all the way around my deck. They claimed these were the only screws that would work. I found the appropriate screw online and asked them to use the correct screw - they ordered the wrong color - even with a guide on the website that matched deck color with screw color. They removed the black screws and replaced them with the wrong color but correct screws. The screw heads on the new correct screws were much smaller than the old black incorrect screws thus revealing burn marks on my fascia boards where the original wrong screws damaged the material. I asked for new fascia and the correct color and correct screws. TnT did come out and replace the fascia and screws, however their crew was bitter about the process and the repeated visits and mentioned "you got a new door too" I informed him my house was two years old and that I had a new door to begin with. The crew leader was making remarks about how much I am costing him, and I explained he was costing himself. This crew leader had the smell of alcohol on his breathe while telling me in my face that he was a professional. This same crew member also told me that he would be happy to provide me another bid that included the items on my original agreement, apparently thinking he was entitled to more money for the work. At any rate, here we are at April 21st 2013, a full seven months after we agreed to do business, with a finished project. But there were big concerns about methods that were used. I was informed that the fasteners used were not covered under the warranty of the manufacturer of the Timbertech deck boards, in other words, every point of contact is not covered and there are hundreds. This was in direct conflict with what I was originally told regarding warranty and board manufacturer. I am upset. First issue is the steel frame deck is actually steel and wood. The wood braces between steel joists were improvised in place of the steel braces that would normally be used. Apparently this was TnT's first steel frame deck and they were in the dark regarding construction practices. Second issue is the fastener they used was not recommended by any manufacturer, and as it turns out, the Timbertech board does not have a fastener that will attach to the steel frame - reason for this? Trex manufactures the steel frame and a fastener that works for their board, but not Timbertech...... The improvised method TnT used was rejected in writing and in writing I was told that they DO NOT WARRANTY the fastening system used. Therefore, if there is a failure, I am stuck. read more

We decided to replace our deck and have a roof built over the deck area. We called several companies and ultimately received 5 bids. During the bidding process, we were surprised by the differences in, not only the costs, but the level of knowledge and professionalism demonstrated by the various contractors. In the end, we decided to hire TNT Home Improvements for the job and are very happy we did. They really listened to what we wanted and were very reasonably priced. The crew who installed the deck and roof were excellent. They took their time and made sure every detail was perfect. By the time they were finished, we were extremely satisfied with their workmanship. We are perfectionists and are not easily satisfied. TNT Home Improvements not only met our expectations, they exceeded them. After getting several estimates, we had all but given up on having our dream deck built. The estimates we received were incomplete, too high or we just didn't get estimates back from several companies. A friend suggested we call TNT. We decided to give it one last try before giving up on the whole project. Roy came to our home and spent a lot of time measuring, asking questions and finding out what we wanted. When he was done, he told us he would be in touch the next day with an exact estimate. He called the next day as promised and gave us an estimate that was lower than most of the other estimates we had received and they said they could do the project in half the time! I was skeptical, but since they were recommended by a reliable source, we agreed to have them do the work. We scheduled a 2nd appointment with Roy and the owner of the company. They came back to our house and provided us with a detailed, written estimate that included everything that we had talked about with Roy during our first meeting. This step gave us a lot of peace of mind and we were happy to learn that Tad, the owner, is a licensed engineer and would handle the plans and permits. Having a licensed engineer on staff saved us a lot of money based on what other companies told us. Once we got through the administrative stuff, our materials were delivered as promised and the crew showed up the next day. Throughout the process the crew was extremely respectful to our property and we were impressed with their skill level and workmanship. They finished the job on-time and on budget and even put up with me making changes! This was not a small project and it included a large deck with a new cover.
