If I could leave zero stars for the review, I definitely would. This facility sold a 6 month old Shamrock Macaw that was ABV positive & an adult male Macaw that was ABV positive to a family. After getting them the family found out the male was extremely aggressive & wasn't acting like a typical healthy macaw. The baby got sick shortly after getting her home as well. Todd Marcus' son, Chris, told them to hand feed her formula. After numerous conversations & some advice from Chris, he was informed about the second bird also being positive for ABV & after that he never returned any messages. The family is now left with two sick birds, one which isn't doing well & probably won't end up making it, after spending thousands of dollars. Todd Marcus has no sympathy & is placing blame on the family, rather than taking accountability or trying to be helpful. Investing so much money into animals that become a part of your family, your best friends, just to watch them wither away & know there is nothing you can do to help save them is the most heartbreaking & devastating thing imaginable to people who truly care about their pets. If you intend on purchasing a bird from this facility, please think twice as this disease is contagious & it is fatal, & the birds the family have were at the pet store which means all other birds that they had at the time & even now, could've potentially been exposed & could also be sick - even if they show no noticeable signs. This business should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Im very happy to finally be getting an African gray I'm in Maryland so there's really nothing that is nearly this genuine at providing good quality and genuine hand weaned birds. There staff is very friendly and helpful and knowledgeable. They even offer financing to help customers like my self be able to get the parrot I've always wanted. Yes it's expensive but this parrot could put live me. It's worth the money to be able to get ur forever pet. I'm excited to bring my African gray home when it's ready in a 4 to 6 weeks. It's hard to wait. We will be visiting Sunday. The staff are extremely helpful and extremely knowledgeable ever time I've called to get updates they have taken time to and my questions and I've never felt rushed are asked a question that they couldn't answer. read more

Horrible owner. Another bird suffocated to death by an inexperinenced employee that knows nothing on how to towel and trim a parrots nails. Does not allow customer to accompany their bird to the room to do the trim and if they tell you that you're not allowed, please insist on being in the room with your parrot or better yet go elsewhere. read more

This store carries a wide variety of exotic birds. I purchased a very expensive parrot because I read some great reviews and I trusted their many years of experience. However, be aware that the store do not keep accurate records of their sales. They sold me a parrot that was already purchased by other customer. They compensated me for the mistake and yet again they did not keep records for the new bird that I exchanged. The store did not provide me with a hatch certificate nor did they confirm the sex of the parrot (even though they said that they are waiting for the DNA test results). The parrot was not banded so the store had to issue their own store band. The sales associate had an attitude when I questioned her about the store band (mainly because I didn't know the reason and wanted understand.) I called the store two times to follow up about the sex and the hatch certificate. Both times they said they would call me back. I have not received a call back yet. I would have been okay if they just told me the bird was not sexed because I had an upcoming appointment with the vet and I could have gotten the DNA test at that time. I feel like this back and forth with the store was really unnecessary. I'm very disappointed by this experience and it made me questioned if the bird actually came from a real breeder. read more

I got a GCC Conure from Todd Marcus back in June. Unfortunately, the bird and I did not work out. It was very nippy and bit you hard. Upon doing extensive research on this species of bird, I found that that is how they are even when they grow older. While this can be somewhat addressed it will never be fully fixed, so I decided that the bird was not for me. I sent an email to Todd Marcus as it was after hours, and did not hear back from them the next day when they opened so I decided to call. I explained my situation and they were very understanding and nice. I ended up exchanging my Green Cheek Conure along with the cage for a Senegal and bigger cage. The whole process was smooth and we were out with our new baby in reasonable time. The customer service that was provided was exceptional and as I mentioned before I highly recommend this store! You would have to look long and hard to find a better store for birds anywhere. Only once or twice in my travels in US have I come across any place that can rival this place!! They cover ALL the bases. Meticulously clean, knowledgeable, friendly, well stocked, etc.,etc. A wonderful selection of birds, including rescues ( I have rescued two parrots from there and they are wonderful!). A terrific and bountiful selection of food and toys, lots of cages, and everything you could need. They clip my birds when it is necessary, unfortunately I had one bird who always needed to be clipped. And they have been shipping my food during covid. I have just read a review from a couple that I feel I need to address. I was there at the time the potential owner learned that her chosen bird was not the one she was holding. I did not know the details, however I heard what was said and how people reacted. Obviously, the purchaser was upset as I would have been however, yelling at the manager after he apologized numerous times is not acceptable, especially when one of the couple said to the other, just pick out another one. There are always two sides to every story and I hope people determine for themselves just how wonderful, or not Todd Marcus truly is at providing birds. I also need to wonder if these people believed there were bird health issues, why would they go there in the first place. Makes you wonder! For my own experience, I could not have had a more wonderful experience making a purchase. The workers are all very helpful and understanding of your level of bird experience. They tell you the good and the bad about owning a specific type of bird. I have purchased other birds in the past and never had a health issue and when I took my birds to the vet for their first visit, I was asked where I got them. When I told them, the vet said that is good because the birds from Todd Marcus are always in the best of shape. I am sorry that the couple had a bad experience, but to claim so many horrible things about a store, the workers and the animals is not appropriate in any way. A bird-lover's paradise. This is literally "my happy place. I have been coming here for supplies for my timneh African gray. I had been searching for a good exotic bird store that is down by me and I was referred by the owner of Patterson Birds in north Jersey, where I purchased my baby, Henry. There are so many different types of toys to choose from, separated by the size of your bird, wide selections of seeds, nuts, treats, and pellets, and so many healthy-looking babies. They go fast though. You rarely see the same bird there twice. The workers are so pleasant and sweet and encourage you to play with a bird if it's not already sold. There's a nice sitting area with trees and food for the birds that you can interact with ones you choose from. I played with the baby macaws and it was so much fun. I try to get here atleast once to twice a month as a serotonin booster. We will be purchasing our next bird here soon, hopefully a goffin cockatoo! read more

My 12 year old umbrella cockatoo Tallon died of suffocation (documented on the vets autopsy report) during her nail trimming at Todd Marcus. The absolute worst nightmare possible. Her death was a result of this company's inability to properly train & the incompetence & negligence of their employees. After her death the employee told me it happens sometimes & handed me her body back while my wife & daughter were crying uncontrollably. keep in mind I've toweled her & trimmed my umbrella, feed her medicine, ext. many times. (So has bird paradise with no issues). After her death Todd Marcus basically told me if I wanted a new replacement umbrella cockatoo he was willing to give me 25% off the cost of a new bird and I'd have to pay him roughly another $6,000.00 This is completely unsatisfactory customer service for what my family has been put through at this company's hands. I will never go back & I will never pay them another dime, they are completely heartless, money hungry & numb to the value of your parrots life. My biggest mistake was following their "no customer allowed in grooming room" policy when I heard her gasping for air while the employee chocked the life out of her. Todd Marcus then tried to tell me she died because she had health problems to avoid the reimbursement price of a new umbrella. Warning!!Our bird was killed in this store. the employee wrapped out bird in a towel folded in half covering her face for 5 minutes. She suffocated just like a new born child would completely paoppsed with their mouth and nose complet covered. The owner sent us the video. Now we know my daughter and husband were listening to her struggling and gasp for air till she died. Behind a closed glass door. They want to blame the killing on a health issue. She was just fine had blood work a few months earlier and she wasn't sick. BEWARE!!! Visited the store while on vacation from California. A nice store, but the prices for their birds are wildly exorbitant compared to California. Maybe it's geography, but $3700 for an African Grey? They're $1600 to $2000 in California. $700 for a Green Cheek? $350 here. All the prices were so much higher. read more

Place is clean and organized, and the 20-60 customers you will see walking around the store at any given time will be proof positive about why this is one of the top Bird stores in NJ. This place is pretty much a petting zoo for people to bring their kids to. They will hand a little kid any bird they want to hold. They also have birds out for people to interact with without anyone supervising them. So you'll see little kids go up and grab and poke at birds while their parents zone out. They will sell basically anyone a bird, without an exotic pet license. read more

I am always very impressed by the friendliness and knowledgeability of the staff here. They are able to answer any questions you could possibly have. They have their own food blends which my feathered friends love. Last night I purchased my first bird from them, along with a new cage for another. I just read someone else's negative review, which prompted me to write this review. Like any business, mistakes can happen. I don't think it's fair to condemn a business so viciously simply because you had a less than ideal experience. And yes, selling a parrot to someone else is certainly a disappointment and I'd probably be upset also, but I'm sure it was a mistake. There's far worse things in the world. Anyway, we took home a beautiful yellow shouldered Amazon 7 months ago and the buying experience was great. This was our first parrot and naturally we were a little nervous. However the staff was very helpful, informative and friendly and answered all our questions. We visited him several times before he was able to come home with us and we were allowed to spend as much time with him as we wanted and were never made to feel uncomfortable for sitting there for HOURS. Since we brought our parrot home, we have called them numerous times for advice and were never rushed off the phone. Further, we come in about once a month and bring our parrot with us. We are able to stay as long as we want, which also allows us to socialize our parrot. While we are there, the staff is friendly and unbelievably helpful, which I find to be very unique. We ask A LOT of questions!! We live over an hour away, and prior to purchasing from TM, we visited several other parrot "stores", including one not too far away from TM. There was no comparison between the others and TM. The others were not as clean, the staff wasn't as helpful and the parrots were not as friendly. So based on our experience, I wouldn't consider getting a parrot anywhere else. read more
