Togo's is the iconic sub shop of Marquette and has really great subs. The bread is really soft and fresh. Their Hot Pastrami and Classic Italian are my favorites. I have ordered from both locations, and they are both great. They can get busy at meal times and calling an order can get a bit frustrating if you're asked to hold. read more

I really wish I had something nice to say, we're not picky people and love small town places. The Italian cheese bread was decent, but cold, on my cold sandwich that was supposed to be hot. There was nothing enjoyable about this experience. The staff weren't friendly, it took 45 minutes to make 2 sandwiches for my husband and I. It was hardly busy, there was 1 other person in line when we got there, and two people waiting inside. The cashier was not helpful and we saw another staff member arguing with a customer about an order that was messed up. 45 long minutes later we got our sandwiches only after asking. They had been sitting on the counter in the back. Both were cold and supposed to be hot. We agreed we could have gotten a comparable sub at Walmart and skipped the 45 min wait. It did not seem like anyone was accountable in this place. I'd say I'd order drive through next time but - we won't be back! read more

I don't write bad reviews. If you don't have something nice to say, why say anything at all is my motto on yelp-but in this case....ugggh! Togo's subs use to be a staple in the MQT area when I went to school 99-05 and when my sister went to Northern previous. I remember the soft bread, fat toppings, great service..and of course...the marquette beaches are just a minute drive and a perfect place to eat your hometown subs......but today, the only thing left in that picture is the beaches. They are still gorgeous and very welcoming to picnic goers, swimmers, tanners, dog walkers etc. Lake Superior is beautiful and will stand the test of time...TOGOS on the otherhand will not. It was the complete opposite of the mouthwatering memory i had in my collective foodie schema! The bread was gross, perhaps stale, the meat flavorless, and I got the MISSLE -the infamous steak sub....it was gross, barely edible...even after i added salt and pepper. WHAT A BUMMER. The service at the counter was a unpleasant expierence as well to top it all off. I tried to order a ham and turkey sub with lettuce, pickles, black olives and mayo...but since togos isn't really friendly on the special orders (they charge for banana peppers) THE lady rolled her eyes and sighed as she had to write a message down to the line cook...The sandwich was for my daughter, and even her at five said please and thank you..but the return was unwelcoming! So sad Marqutte. Shame on TOGOS for going down hill! There is a Jimmy Johns across the street, STuckos Pub just down the street, and third street bagel even farther south (1/2 mile) all on third street! Togos used to be the best. When I moved away, it was always the first stop when I flew into town. Now that I've moved back my opinion has changed. I thought that maybe all of those times they were rude or didn't get my order right, that it was just an off day. Now that I've tried to go there several times over the last few months, I realize that they have just tanked. The service is horrible. Every time I've gone in, there is chaos and unpleasantness. I called in a big order for a work event. They didn't know how to take it. I gave my name twice. I went to pick it up. "There's no name was it $xxx?" I don't know. I didn't ask. I am sad that Togos is as poorly run as it is. Don't bother. There are many gems in Marquette. Togos is no longer one of them. read more

The food can be good if the bread is fresh enough. But a little customer service goes a long way. I grew up in Marquette and remember in high school and most of college at NMU that Togos was great! They had sub's stuffed with toppings and was run by friendly down to earth college kids. I recently got some Togos. What a change. They renovated their dining area and it looks great but that is overshadowed by bland sandwiches with stale soggy bread. I ordered a large tuna for me an a small ham and cheese for my nephew. They mixed up the sizes but instead of making a new one or giving me my money back they gave me 20% off my next order. That sounded really lazy to me. The guy at the counter even scoffed and rolled his eyes at me when I told him the sizes were mixed up. When my nephew ate his sub he found a long black hair in it. Instead of wasting my time complaining I threw both our subs in the trash and got jimmy johns. I don't expect fast food workers to be extremely friendly (I even find that weird or annoying sometimes) but a little apology and understanding would be great. I'm never going here again. When I walked in I saw the cashier treat every customer rudely. You don't want to be treated that way and they obviously don't want to serve you. Don't encourage this type of behavior and spend your money on one of the many local restaurants on 3rd street in Marquette. I personally think they put something in the employee water to turn these people into apathetic disrespectful assholes. read more

I was starving after a 4.5 hour hike, so headed to Togo's based on the great reviews from my fellow Yelpers. I ordered a large Turkey Bacon Avocado and medium fountain drink (total was around $9.50). The bread was nice and mushy, and the toppings were good but not very plentiful. Overall it was filling, but not "out of this world" delicious. read more

There is little in life that I miss more than Togos sandwiches. Granted, I was raised a scant few blocks from here so I am a touch biased. The 16 is the "classic italian sub sandwich." I went to Togo's with really high hopes. Everyone i knew from Marquette talked it up really well. However it was below average. The store needs a a really good deep cleaning. Lots of trash and bits of food laying around. Bathroom was pretty atrocious. The people working here were pretty nice. The food was just not that great. Tons of lettuce on my Italian, average to small amount of meat. The meat honestly tasted really processed and cheap. It just reminded me of a gas station sub. I am eating my freshly delivered Togo's as I write this and I am very happy. I think the Hot Pastrami with Giardanaras is my new favorite sub.. but I always get two, the three cheese veggie is just something I can't get away from. However, the real reason that I write this is because these d*mn cookie bars are just sooooooo good! Crack in a cookie. One recommendation; stick to the wheat bread (it's darn near white anyway). And I guess I should explain that I took one star off because they are not necessarily known for their service all the time, but hey.. fast food and high school kids.. it's still typically as good as most of the server oriented service around town. Steak and cheese, extra steak and extra cheese please!! I always get a Togo when I come back to town to visit just because its been that way since I graduated college. I used to eat Togos once a week when I lived in Marquette and went to MSHS 92-95. I still remember family 16's prior to HS. So yes it is a staple and its not going anywhere. The worst thing that Togo's did was hire these very young HS kids that have no idea about quality control and really the basics of a good sub. This addresses the hit or miss issue. As for the bread, no arguments there. The Pasta Shop on 3rd Street actually uses Togo's bread so what does that say?? Anyway, ignore the bad reviews and have yourself a Togo. I am usually reactive in digestion to low quality/ processed breads like some other places have, but this was clean and did not leave me in discomfort The store itself needed a bit more cleaning attention, seemed almost like a college dorm room but other than that I was very pleased with the friendliness of staff and quality product. read more

Togo's is a better option for subs than any other sub shop in the area - that's certain and I don't think anyone would argue with that. The Torpedo, Italian (#16), and The Club are my personal favorites. The bread is made in house and is fluffy and fresh every time. The sandwiches come in four sizes; tiny, small, large, and family size. The tiny size is honestly enough for any one person but you will wish you had more so may as well just order a small. Lol.. I have an important announcement. This is the REAL Togo's. Here in California there's this chain called Togo's. They make sandwiches, too. I don't know what that's about cuz I grew up in Marquette, Michigan, and I know all about Togo's. The Three Cheese Veggie kicks butt, or at least it did back in the day, and things in Michigan don't tend to change much over time. And I mean that in an affectionate way. This is still the best sandwich in the world. They have had their ups and downs over the years but the bottom line is that you can't get bread like this at any other sub shop. If it is fresh it is heaven but even when they serve you the stuff that is almost stale it still beats the freshest Jimmy John's or Subway bread!!! I always look forward to visiting Togo's when we go back home. My mouth is watering as I write this just thinking about a 16 on whole wheat. That is the other thing...the wheat bread is just as good and fluffy as the white!!! The service is usually slow and if you go here when it is busy forget about getting your sandwich quickly. First off the TOGO's on 3rd Street in MARQUETTE IS NOT CLOSED. Not sure why YELP keeps saying it is. As far as my Togo's review, I find the subs are still pretty good, but I do agree with others that the overall TASTE and the Size and the amount used in the subs have tanked a bit, yet the prices have gone up. OVERALL: if your old school to Marquette and crave TOGO's go ahead and splurge a little and order you fav sub, just make sure your ready to spend a little extra to add more of the toppings and dressings you love to your sub. That is the ONLY WAY you are going to get the sub you used to recall back in the old days. VISITORS TO MARQUETTE: My advice would be to try it and see what you think. If you love fresh baked breads, love a sub overall but want to avoid the CHAIN SUB places like JIMMY JOHNS that you can probably get back home, then stop here. Again, I suggest in order to get the great sub you Double on your meat and ask them to add a little extra on whatever dressing your after. It will take a little bite out of your wallet, but it might just be worth it for you. As far as STAFF GOES: I have only encountered twice in my years of going where a staff member had seemed a little overly stressed, but who doesn't have an occasional bad day. keep in mind a CUSTOMERS ATTITUDE does changing a workers mood so be kind and don't yell or seem intollerant and I sure you won;t have a bad experience. read more

Gluten free options are a joke! Their gluten free "flat bread" is a tiny soft shell taco. When you order a small gluten free flat bread you get two small soft shell tacos, comparable in size to Taco Bell's side taco. What is not comparable to Taco Bell is the price! $6 for Togo's small gluten free flat bread! I will say that the NMU student free medium drink is nice. The place has also not been very clean (especially the kitchen) the past couple of times I have gone there. read more

I love Togo's. My family and I live in northeastern Wisconsin and every time we come to visit family in Marquette, a Togo's visit is a must-do activity. The bread is super fresh and the atmosphere is awesome. Not much of seating on the premises but it's the perfect food for a quick pick-up for a picnic at Presque Isle. I love Togo's. My family has had a cottage in Marquette that we visited every summer since I was little. I'm dating myself, but my first Italian sub there was 1964, the year it opened, when I was 11. I just had another Italian sub there two days ago, after a "hiatus" of about 8 years that I didn't have the opportunity to get up to Marquette, and it hasn't changed a bit.
