It's been here for a long time, they've improved since then. A mom and pop vibe - not necessarily the cleanest but it'll get the job done. They got a mixture and variety of snacks and seafood on the frozen side. Service is meh. Sometimes they are nice and sometimes they act like you're a burden. I'll come here if I have to. read more

I love coming here Tokyo has all you need... for susi, eggrolls, spring rolls, vitemese rolls etc. Tokyo also offers freshly made Kimshi. Good items in the store. I went looking for ginger tea because I was feeling a bit ill. I was pleased to find several options with ginger. I also bought some snacks to try. I was surprised to see they have a variety of imported Asian coffee. Some items are pricey but they may be worth it. Still need to try everything I just purchased. Overall it seems like a good place to find some edible treasures. I do recommend and hope to be back soon. read more

I've seen Asian markets in Dallas and the variety is so much wider. But they do have the basics in candy and chips like pocky and ramune as well as chocolate bars. Good stop for candy cravings. They have a variety of frozen foods. Including ice cream / mochi and drinks. read more

I like coming to this spot since they usually have new items every time that I visit. They have all sorts of grub from Asia. I always go and try to find some of the great snacks that I used to get in Los Angeles. They also have a huge selection of make-your-own-sushi supplies. The prices are a bit high, but they're the ONLY people supplying some of the items. I've always found Asian Markets to have higher prices, so it's to be expected. read more

I was "depressed" for a good 2 months after moving down here and discovered that there's no good Asian restaurants or markets around here. Went to couple Asian markets only to walk out of there disappointed. Until.........I decided to go to Tokyo Asian Market since it's my last option on the list. Boy did they make my day! I was happy to find fresh rice noodles, spices to make pho, soy sauce, fish sauce, sesame oil, you name it! Don't let the outside fool you. This is the biggest Asian market in the area. It doesn't get better than this anywhere else down here. I only wish they had a better selection for the fresh produce. I was able to get some bean sprout tho. So they still deserve 5 stars! read more

Love this store and their staff. I love making sushi rolls, making different Asian soups, and presenting them on the beautiful dishware they have at this store. You can find just about anything Asian from dishes to supplies. I've even had them translate stuff for me. Awesome store!!! read more

I was so excited to find an asian market in the middle of the Rio Grande Valley! I like to keep Kimchi on hand for it's probiotic benefits. So I went, they had coolers full of it in pint, quart and gallon sizes, so I assume they sell to restaurants as well. This product was SO FULL OF MSG that I was down with a headache for two full days. There was NONE of the bubbly sensation that you get when Kimchi is ACTUALLY FERMENTED. This product is being sold for taste only. There can be no fermentation going on AT ALL. My bad for not checking the label. But WHO PUTS MSG in KIMCHI??????? I've bought Kimchi for years in stores, and NEVER had this reaction, so to get it from an Asian store was astounding to me. I would have taken it back, but after recovering, I looked at the receipt and it said 3 (!) days for returns. WHAT? They have other products that I'm sure are fine. BUT DO NOT BUY THEIR KIMCHI! IT IS NOT REAL KIMCHI! read more

I'm very impressed with this grocery. We always like to check out different grocery stores, and we've had many opportunities to visit Asian groceries across the country. This is up there with some of the best. Something that always bugs me about Asian groceries is that a lot of time the products look like they have sat on the shelves for years and years--dusty--sometimes bulging (eek!) cans, musty smells, etc. This place is not like that at all. They have a good variety of items from all over Asia. I was even to find the elusive Shaohsing rice wine (I've ALWAYS had to substitute sherry in recipes!). Be sure to get the bottles in the front of the store by the checkout counter, though, the ones on the right side of the store are of the "cooking wine" variety--heavily fortified with salt. They even have the famous Japanese "Kewpie" brand mayonnaise. The freezer cases are filled with all kinds of tasty items--if you're looking for miso, this is where find it. read more

I come here a lot since it's the only Asian grocery store I can find in Mcallen. Like lots of asian grocery stores, watch out for the expired foods. They have A LOT lying around the shelves. Prices here are higher than other grocery stores in south texas, but I guess I can't complain..I wouldn't be able to make my asian food without them! read more
