We've brought so many people here from out of town and they all say it's the best sushi and hibachi they've ever had!! Even better than when they went to Japan!! We eat here about once a week. Our go to orders are the hibachi steak or chicken, yummy rolls and clear soup. Their water with lemon is so good!! The servers are always attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and they can just about take our order without asking us because we go so much! Tokyo is definitely a favorite for us! We have been going for years now. The servers are always very speedy and attentive on our Wednesday night Tokyo trips! Very clean, calming but modern interior for such a small town. Very well-maintained bathrooms! The food is top-notch My favorite order is Chicken Egg Noodle +extra egg and a Super Crunchy Roll Thank me later You cannot go wrong with their appetizers either! Fried Thai Calamari and Crab Rangoons are my personal favorite. The times I have gotten my food To-go have been great as well. The girl on the phone is easy to work with and the packaging is always very secure for my car rides home! 10/10 would recommend Tokyo is such a great addition to the city of Sylacauga read more

Went there on a Thursday night around 8pm. Easy to find, right off Hwy 280. Busy night but was warmly greeted and quickly seated within minutes. Reasonably priced and good menu selections. Clean facility. read more

Tokyo is a fine restaurant for those craving hibachi, and other Japanese cuisine during a long ride on 280, and it's just that-fine, but it's not going to 'wow' anyone with its offerings. I had the chicken hibachi lunch special, and my opinions on that course vary dish to dish: the soup was great, with a perfect blend of broth and scallion, but the salad that accompanied it was drowning in dressing. The chicken itself was fine, but the rice was lacking in flavor and included none of the traditional mixings you would expect, such as scrambled eggs or veggies. I think that meal best describes Tokyo, which is a mixed bag but one I would go back to again and explore more of their menu, for they did have a very nice and attentive staff and I really enjoyed the atmosphere and ambiance, which they nailed even though the size of the restaurant is on the smaller side. read more

My oldest kiddo was so excited when Tokyo opened so that is where we did her birthday dinner celebration. I ordered the sesame chicken entree & it was delicious. The mochi ice cream was taste tested by the birthday kid who claimed it was a "unique taste but not bad." The staff could not of provided a better service. Food was prepared very flavorful compared to other Hibachi restaurants. The cooks are very entertaining and you will be certain to have a great time. We frequent many Hibachi restaurants around central Alabama and this is by far our favorite. read more

Excellent choice for Sylacauga restaurants. The service was fast and awesome. Food was excellent and priced accordingly. My only complaint (super small complaint) was that theor ginger wasn't good. Easy 5 star review here for what they have available for the area. read more

Just stopped in for the first time tonight. We were so delighted to find a sushi restaurant in the area. First and foremost, the service was delightful. Ty was so attentive and knowledgeable about the menus. The dining room was modern and spotless. We ordered two appetizers and five different rolls. My service was on point. Was helpful but not over at the table every couple minutes. The bento box that I got was excellent.

We have eaten here at least 20+ times and it has went downhill in the past two months. We chose to eat here tonight and ended up at another restaurant because it was so awful! My wife and my son could not even eat there chicken because it was half cooked.. I tried to let the waitress know these issues multiple times, and she never would acknowledge the fact. Sat with no beer for 10+ minutes and asked for waters twice that were never brought. Then to top it all off, they bring me my sushi roll that is supposed to be seared on top only but is seared to the middle. Then told me it was normal to be seared that much on a raw roll. I am a local and I will never go back to this restaurant again. read more

My wife and I have been coming here for the past year as a regular weekly date spot and we love the consistent amazing food, staff and ambiance. We're both well traveled having sought out sushi all over the world (South Africa, Europe, Australia, etc.) and this location offers some of the best specialty rolls (Try Fantastic roll, Alabama, Triple Crown). There is the rare occasional dish that can be lackluster, but overall outstanding. read more

Visited with my family at the beginning of this week. Food was amazing. Very good. Service was awful. There was a young girl (looked like she was in her teens?) at the register that we passed on the way out - I forgot to ask her name, but she seemed to be new/in training and wore glasses. She was clearly overworked and a female manager (should've gotten her name, but I wasn't going into this restaurant intending to write a review) was screaming at the girl despite the girl juggling 3 different things (ringing us up, taking phone orders, and according to the manager, making salads in the back when she had free time). The girl seemed to be doing a good job to me, but even if she wasn't, screaming at employees (especially new ones) whatsoever AND ESPECIALLY IN FRONT OF CUSTOMERS is extremely unprofessional. If there is any doubt as to how over the top the manager was being, the girl in glasses was crying while being screamed at WHILE CONTINUING TO DO HER JOB. I have worked 14 years in the food service industry and have never had an employee that had the attitude that that manager had. If I did, I would have immediately fixed the situation on the spot, and if the employee was unwilling to check their attitude at the door, they would've been fired immediately. This was completely unacceptable. We were also "helped" by an employee named Heather. If you go, I suggest you request anyone other than Heather. Aside from Heather and the manager, our experience would've been 5-star with zero doubt. Sylacauga has long needed a sushi restaurant and the food here is amazing. We came from Lineville and would do it again all the time if not for these two horrific employees. In the future, we will be placing take-out orders over the phone so that the only employee we are forced to interact with is that girl at the register. I will update with her name later this week.
