She lead me over to a very old looking wood and copper door and told me to just open it and go in. Intrigued by her invitation, I walked in and was amazed by what I saw! I was in total awe of this 1750 seat theater that was built in 1933. It has a beautiful Ancient Grecian look with columns and a beautiful curved ceiling that can be lite up like it's daytime or night, depending on the mood to be conveyed. It's all very classy looking. This play gives a fictional account of the lives of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, imagining a rivalry between the two at the court of Joseph II, Holy Roman Emperor. It was a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Why the 3 stars you ask? The seats are absolutely horrific. Its a metal bench seat with a bar across your shoulder blades. Even worse the bar is reclined. So you're in this weird position with absolutely no back support while your butt goes numb. You are not allowed to bring in a bleacher seat and if you could it wouldn't fit in the tiny numbered space alloted per person. It would be better to remove the seats and have people sit on the ground kind of Red Rocks style.

FTR, baby!!! The…read moreValentine Theatre is a staple in downtown Toledo. The ambiance exudes history and culture - the massive mural in the entrance depicts theatre performers from 1895 to 1920. It's painted by Paul Geiger, a Toledo local and someone my parents know. :) Unfortunately, the theatre was under renovation for much of my childhood and I didn't attend many performances here, but nonetheless, this place rocks! I recently got to return for a friend's wedding and it was the perfect venue for it. They opened up the theatre for guests to walk around and check it out and the reception was held in the mural room. Drink and snack prices are what you'd expect but the prices for any decent seats are up there. Parking is free. Which lets be honest is a huge plus these days! They have a new bar in the hall next door. I didnt go in so I can not comment on it. There are a ton of staff . I think they must have a minimum age of 90 to work there. They just kind of stand around and stare at you when they aren't directing. It is unnerving. The most disappointing thing is the sound quality. Its pretty awful. If you are seeing a play or musical there will most likely be times you have no idea whats being said. I dont mind seeing shows here but it could definitely be better. 3.5 stars

It ran the gamut from performing arts to pretty much any other kind of handmade art as far as the eye could see. Some of it was kitschy, some of it was forgettable, but most of it was astounding. The people who put this together should be very proud of themselves and bringing the arts community of Northwest Ohio together for a sweet-ass and incredibly fun event.

To start, this is not a place for people of color. The owners, both Vicki Hartkopf and Emilia Hartkopf, have expressed racial comments during class. Continuously throughout the years both women have unprofessionally/ ignorantly talked about their political views in front of the students and parents. Emilia has even had the nerve to discuss her sex life within the classroom. The only thing this studio cares about is winning a gold trophy. They do not care about the wholeness of dance, cultural aspects, or the safety that is needed for dancers. I remember if the teachers disliked the shape of dancer's body, they bullied her to lose weight. They screamed if they did not see perfection in exercises and thought that using fear for their students was a way to discipline. Instead, this created so much anxiety and when I talk to those I danced with in the past, many of them never want to dance ever again. Miss Sarah was one of my teachers at the time. She was the only teacher who gave creative opportunity and voice to her students. She was the only teacher who explain the skeletal musculature of the body that students needed. As someone who still dances professionally, I suggest finding a teacher for your child who has studied the body and the history of dance extensively. I suggest finding someone who understands/ values culture and celebrates diversity. Lastly I suggest finding someone who will give your child voice and the opportunity to be creative. This place will only provide your child with stress.
