I've seen a few shows here my favorite being the Avett Bros. There isn't a bad view IMO and the sound is great. As with the rest of the zoo structures the amphitheater is beautiful. Why the 3 stars you ask? The seats are absolutely horrific. Its a metal bench seat with a bar across your shoulder blades. Even worse the bar is reclined. So you're in this weird position with absolutely no back support while your butt goes numb. You are not allowed to bring in a bleacher seat and if you could it wouldn't fit in the tiny numbered space alloted per person. It would be better to remove the seats and have people sit on the ground kind of Red Rocks style. read more

Great place for a show. It's an older, beautiful stone structure. It's a smaller venue with great sound. Seating is folding chairs on the floor and benches in the upper sections. There are plenty of places to buy drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcohol near the entrances. Security personnel and all of the workers at the drink stations were nice and professional. I would definitely go back to a show here. read more

Nice outdoor amphitheater for a summer concert. We came here for a ZZ Top concert. The bench seating is less ideal since you have to scoot past people to get in/out of seats in the middle row. Also, it's really easy for people to take up more room than just their designated seat with the bench set up. Midway through the concert, the sound cut out which led to a 30 min delay getting it back. Hopefully that's more of a rare occurrence. Things that could be improved are: tighter regulation on not smoking in there (rude people without any qualms about breaking the no smoking rules make it miserably stink for non-smokers and face no repercussions), not sure what is the purpose of drink tickets when customers can just pay for drinks rather than have to wait in 2 separate lines for tickets then drinks/food, and better signs out front indicating what is/isn't allowed inside. We parked far away and were told we couldn't bring in our umbrellas (which in hindsight makes sense if you're going to a concert, you don't want to obstruct the view for the people behind you) but we had to walk all the way back to/from the car to put our umbrellas away. There was no way we would've known the rules beforehand until the employees turned us away with umbrellas. read more

The seating in the amphitheater is absolutely terrible. You cant get in and out of out seat without having everyone in the row get up and out of their seats. It is ridiculously tight and the metal bench seating is very uncomfortable. Im not a big person at all and i felt very tight the entire show. I wont be attending a event here ever again. read more

If you *do* decide to catch a show here, don't bother spending money on a VIP experience. By the time you're able to park and make it inside you'll have missed the pre-show VIP extra stuff you'd paid for. Parking would be a joke if it weren't so angering. I thought the first experience of nightmarish parking problems was a fluke. Yesterday's buffoonery simply confirms my suspicion that the zoo should stick to being a zoo--it's an awesome zoo!--and bow out as gracefully as possible from the live concerts. read more

Don't bother spending big bucks on the "floor" seating. It's flimsy, plastic folding chairs zip-tied together so they don't move. The cheaper , bleacher seats looked MUCH more comfortable. read more

It's a small stage, with bench seats, but it's a very cool and intimate venue. Sound is limited because of the animals, but it's still PLENTY loud. The cheetahs are literally right next to the stage! Don't expect a full blown stadium production here, but it still rocks! read more

Seen Steve Miller Band here and it was great! Love the seating and intimate feel of this place. Don't have much in refreshments unless you're a drinker (we are not). Great place for a concert, every seat is good. Didn't hurt that we had seats 3rd row from the stage either. read more

Small plastic flimsy folding chairs literally zip tied to each other in rows with no mid back support, crammed together, even our teens were uncomfortable beyond belief. Such a cute place and a great zoo why be so cheap and cause such discomfort? Everyone around us was complaining. Some older folks in great pain. Ok, me too. It was brutal. Not even an inch between bodies WHY? The tickets were $90 a seat plus charges for the show we went to and they are never cheap. $400 for our family and we drove up from Columbus and this?? Seriously. Aesthetically gorgeous place, please fix this. Fortunately, Gaffigan was brilliant. read more

As far as viewing the performer, there doesn't seem to be a bad seat there. The rows of stands are very close together. Almost impossible to walk past anyone to get out for drinks or bathroom breaks. The concert we went to had a ton of older folks with canes and it was extremely hard for them to get by others to reach their seats. So, once you're seated you're kinda stuck there. I reccomend bringing a small cushion! It wasn't that bad, but I noticed many others bringing cushions, so just a tip! There are plenty of tents with grilled food, drinks, and bathrooms. The venue is big enough to make you feel like you're at a concert, but small enough to make it an intimate experience. read more
