I moved to RI when I was five months pregnant and needed to find an OB/midwife asap. This practice has been great. I originally thought I'd go with one particular midwife, but she was booked when I needed my first appointment, so they put me with Jane Bradley instead for that first meeting. We ended up liking her so much that we never reverted! She has been great and listening and recommending care for our (more difficult than expected) pregnancy. The office had one snafu where they scheduled me for an appointment and then - without notifying me - cancelled the appointment (I guess one of the midwives needed unexpected knee surgery?), but I was really impressed at how the office rallied to get me the care I needed within 24 hours. There are caring medical professionals here. Unfortunately the front desk, billing etc never answer calls, voicemails and I get disconnected frequently. I am leaving the practice and do not encourage anyone to have to waste their time like I did read more

Do yourself a favor And run far far away from this organization. It's been several years since I had my daughter and I still have PTSD from the awful care that I received. If I can save one woman from having to go through unnecessary hell.. this review was worth it. read more

Just don't. Save yourself the headache that comes with a front desk that could not care less about accuracy or helping people. Half the time you can't even get someone to answer the phone or call you back. It wasn't like this before, but it's gotten awful in the past few years. Used to be wonderful. In recent years has gotten awful. No one responds to your calls on time, sometimes you show up for appointments only to be told the doctor you need to see is unavailable after all. Promised calls back back by end of day, and then silence for days on end. It's gotten ridiculous...and all of this IF you can even get someone to answer the phone, since their automated system is as bad as their care at this point. read more

Due for an update as I've had my baby and experienced the aftercare. Having my baby with the support and help of Women's Care was wonderful. I felt cared for, listened to and educated every step of the way. My appointments were usually on time, I was given a thorough examination and update at each visit, and when it came time to give birth, they were incredible -- really, truly amazing. While the midwife I'd been seeing throughout my pregnancy wasn't able to attend the birth of my daughter, one of the other midwives from the team was there and she stepped in without a glimmer of a hiccup. She knew and understood my plan, handled it beautifully when I changed my mind, and calmly, gently and thoughtfully guided me through the single most important experience of my life. It was unforgettable and totally beautiful. They've been great with the after-care, too -- I went in 6 weeks post-labor and it was great. I never felt rushed, misinformed or ignored by the midwife team. One unpleasant experience I did have was with one of the actual doctors. I found it difficult to work with him as he lacked the warm bedside manner of the midwives, he didn't listen to me and I was incredibly uncomfortable throughout my exam with him, which at nearly 6 months pregnant is never ok. However, this one experience is hardly a blemish on an otherwise stellar experience, and wouldn't deter me in the least from recommending them to a friend. This is a great practice and an over all great team -- I can't recommend them enough! read more

Unfortunately I've had to switch primary doctors. Dr. Harrison was great, but it was just too complicated to get in. If you're sick or need to be seen within the next 4 months, it's extremely difficult. They hold some appointments during each day for day of. Sounds great, but when I called first thing in the morning -- and I mean the literal minute they opened and I stopped getting the "were closed call back later spiel" -- to try to get in my call was "answered in the order it was received." By the time I got on the line all appointments for the day we're gone with ANY doctor that I could see. I was not permitted to make an appointment for the next day. I was frustrated but thought it might be a fluke and tried again the next day. I called exactly at the right time, again calling a couple of times a little early to make sure I got through right away. The exact same thing happened. I had to go to urgent care instead, which was way more expensive, took forever, the care wasn't the best, and there aren't records since it's not your primary doctors office. I found a new primary care physician in a practice that has much better policies on immediate appointments and I haven't had to go to urgent care since. Around the time I left, I received a letter in the mail from Women and Infants saying that they were trying to make it easier to get in by allowing patients to call the morning of and get an appointment that day... not sure what the policy was before but my experience definitely wasn't "easy". And, it wasn't possible!! read more

Womans Care has and always been unprofessional with answering the phone, leaving you on hold and never getting back to their patients. I would not refer anyone to this practice. read more

Full disclosure: I am a physician myself and have worked professionally with many of the doctors in this and other offices. I chose to be personally seen in this office based on the knowledge level, compassion, and professionalism of the doctors in this practice. The doctors are warm hearted, up-to-date with the latest and greatest, and also great teachers (I have had medical students see me in the past here). Like some of the other reviewers, I have been frustrated by the long wait times on the phone for appointments. After being a patient here for over 10 years, I am mentally prepared for these waits, so I generally call while I'm doing other things (expect to be on hold for 30 min). However, now they allow you to schedule your own appointments online, so that's a non-issue. Finally, the review of Women's Care is not complete without a review of Women and Infants where you will have any hospital level care (delivering baby, surgery, radiology). The nurses and staff at WIH are the cream of the crop. All of my delivery experiences have surpassed my (high) expectations. read more

Like reviewer Rocio, I also believe the reviews are supposed to be for Providence Women's Care, hence the address attached to the business. I found out I was pregnant at 3 weeks with my second child, after doing some research I decided to switch to Women's Care because I wanted a midwife and contacted them at 4 weeks pregnant. They scheduled my appointment for 6 weeks, told me everything I would need to bring in, and even set me up with my online care new england account. This online account allows you to fill out the paperwork electronically on your time instead of spending 10-15 minutes in the office filling out pages of paperwork. You can also schedule, cancel, modify appointments through the website, request refills, send emails to your doctor/midwife, and even get your test results. I LOVE this tool! Pro's -Parking is never an issue. There's street parking and a parking lot. -Office is clean and staff is friendly -Every thing is done so timely! I never experience a long wait in the waiting room, my midwife sees me right away and i'm in and out. -I love that everything gets done in the same office. I do my appointments, ultrasounds, and lab work all in the same place! Saves me time and gas money. (The OBGYN I had during my first pregnancy didn't have this convenience which resulted me in having 3 offices to visit. One for appointments, another for ultrasounds, and another for lab work). -The most important pro is the medical attention i'm provided with. The midwives have been fantastic! I've had to contact the on call service and someone picks up immediately to grab my information and relay it to my midwife. The midwife always calls me back right away and assists me with the issues i'm experiencing. Even when I just go for a regular appointment I feel so at ease with my midwife and the care i'm receiving. I definitely wish I had come here for my first child but I am ecstatic with this office and the care i'm receiving. I feel like i'm in good hands! read more

I wouldn't refer anyone to this organization. I have called 3 times & left messages for someone to give me the contact info of my last gyn because she left (as well as the previous 2 gyns), but to no avail. I wonder why the doctors are leaving..... How unprofessional!!! Do yourself a big favor & go elsewhere. read more

Wow what a difference with this place! Clearly they have changed ownership or something because the front desk staff is probably the nicest group of women I've met. Nothing like the last experience I had going back over a year ago. Only setback is sometimes it seems there's a lot of confusion with information but otherwise super great staff. read more

If I could choose no stars, that would be better. Women's Care Providence schedules you for appointments with out of network providers without your knowledge and then you get a bill for $200 for an appointment that shouldn't have cost you a cent. Call billing...no answer, leave several messages and no call back. Call front office to be transferred to billing and get message advising your call can't be completed as dialed and it hangs up. Called a # front office provided and a message states to call back during normal business hours and you are calling during normal business hours but can't leave a message. Unable to speak to anyone. Called insurance company who called provider and finally someone calls back and says they will make the corrections and rebill the claim with insurance company. 2 weeks later, I get another bill in the mail because they never rebilled the claim and the madness of not being able to speak with a human being starts all over again. These idiots need to get a clue. Steer clear...fraud, fraud, fraud. read more

This is the worst OBGYN I've ever tried to get an appointment with ; the doctors are great yet the girls at the front desk never answer the phone ive waited over 35 mins being number 2 in the que , they definitely need to hire more staff to answer the phone. ive had to show up to make an appointment because the wait is so long and when you show up they're not even doing anything ! I had Dr. Carroll A. Medeiros and the level of unprofessionalism I received from her was utterly disgraceful for somebody in an OBGYN field or any medical field for that matter. She did not treat my concerns about myself seriously and dismissed them as if she did not believe me. She also spoke to me in an extremely demeaning tone of voice. As a doctor, your facial expressions should remain neutral especially when the patient is telling you sensitive, personal information pertaining to their life. Dr. Medeiros' condescending facial expressions were present through out the entire doctor's visit. If you are looking for a doctor to make you feel safe and treat you with dignity and emotional sensitivity, she is not the kind of doctor I would recommend to anyone. I would never return to Womens Care after this horrendous, infuriating experience. read more

Providence location is the worst. They cancel appointments with no notification and then just use the same old excuse "I'm sorry". I was booked for an US today at 3:00 pm. 45 minutes later I ask why the wait time and the manager just says oh we had to add 2 other patients to your slot. SMH. No decent courtesy to at least let me know there would be a wait time. Never coming here again. read more

I'm sure that these reviews are supposed to be to the Women's Care in Downtown Providence not Pawtucket so I will review it. I have been going to this place in downtown Providence since I became pregnant in 2011 and I love it. My doctor has always been Dr. K. Devito and she's sweet and great I recommend her and the whole staff to anyone. They are all super friendly and know what they're doing. I will keep going here they are great. read more
