I was on my way to West Seattle to do some field work as part of my project on the West Seattle Bridge and decided to take the South Park Bridge after seeing how backed up the traffic to get across the First Avenue South Bridge was. I bring up Boeing because crossing the Duwamish River via the South Park Bridge takes one past Boeing. It was fun being 'ahhh, Boeing!!!' as I drove this way. The bridge is smaller than the West Seattle Bridge and the First Avenue South Bridge. There are towers looking out over the bridge like at the First Avenue South Bridge and Spokane Street Bridge only the towers at this bridge are shorter and more red in color than at the other bridges. A fun short drive to cross the Duwamish here. Well maintained and not trash lying around on the ground when I drove across.

monday morning august 17th i called the street department at the city of redmond…read more i spoke with tess and she took down my request which was that two manhole covers have asphalt missing from the sides, both of them. tess wrote up my request. took down my email and told me she would send my request quickly for repair. today, 24 hours later my request was taken care of. now both man holes are repaired. tess is the best person to talk to and the city of redmond is ten times better than the city of kirkland which is where i live.

I rarely do this but I am going to swing the opposite way on my ratings. Yes, Redmond has a lot of…read moreapartments downtown but when you go to Kirkland and Bellevue it's pretty crazy and Woodinville is changing a lot too. Most of the change in Redmond now appears to have happened and it has Marymoor park, the light rail to go downtown and Redmond Town Center. Every time we go to kirkland and bellevue it is so packed all of the time and Redmond has a lot of apartments downtown but it doesn't have the feeling that kirkland does during the summer. you can't even drive through kirkland on a sunny day without the cruising traffic and crowded restaurants. kirkland is lovely but it's loved by everyone (not just the people that live there) so finding parking is hard. Ultimately Redmond isn't as bad as the other cities on the eastside for being crowded constantly and it has nice green spaces outside of the immediate downtown so I'm changing my rating. :-)

A parking garage with outdoor access can be found off of 28th, but one is still subject to the weather when entering and exiting the actual library building. Staff seem very averse to having children present, despite the wonderfully set up children's area, at the far wall of the library. The smallest peep heard, or a baby's whimper and they rush over to remind the parents that it's a library and we must be quiet. It's a lovely space, but feels quiet and quiet and unwelcoming due to the ultra-sensitive staff.

The buildings architectual style was Italian Renaissance, designed by architect Max Umbrecht. The building was the center of James Clise business empire. The Globe Navigation Companys ( ship building operation offices) were located on the upper floors as well as offices for "Clise Investment Co./ Washington Trust Co/ New York Commercial Co./ & the architectual offices of Max Umbrecht. In 1917 James Clise moved his operation into the the new Securities Building Downtown. This gave small local businesses an opportunity to secure retail space on the lower level. The upper offices became hotel rooms of the Windsor Hotel which soon became the Globe Hotel . The Globe Building was one of the first structures to be restored during the Pioneer Square Revival which began in the 1960's. After many years of neglect, the Globe Building was finally registered in the National Registry of Historic Places in 1982 and then fully restore in 1996. Today the lower level retail space is home to many local businesses "Storyville Coffee, Art Gallery & Hotel Bar & Cafe . The upper floors remain rooms of the now "Alexis Hotel." Thanks for reading ! I regret not patronizing the alluring shops, as many closed before 7pm. I fell in love with the uniquely situated library. Think, "A River Runs through It"! The city has had tons of restaurants, bars, parks, and larger shopping centers where you'll be sure to find something to do. Or just enjoy the quiet. I'll be back!!!

Steve T was very patient discussing our needs, and the process before we submitted our application. Scott was great at the inspections. The Renton Senior Activity Center has one of the best facilities and programs around. I have compared senior centers to other municipalities when I visited, such as the Olympia area, and now I know even more what a wonderful city I live in. Renton has wonderful green parks that make use of the Lake Washington lakefront and of the Cedar River which runs through town. Lots of bicycle paths are available and some outdoor exercise equipment.
