    Free Water

I've passed by this well so many times when visiting Lynnwood, it was finally time to stop. The 164th Street Artesian Well is a unique offering in the area, but similar to public springs found throughout the world. Access is a challenge with only a small parking lot. I don't recommend walking as carrying water is heavy. This place is extremely popular. It is a combination of free water and people concerned about chemicals in tap water. First off, I am a trained engineer with lots of water training and know tap water is extremely safe. I routinely drink the tap water in the water district which uses similar water in the tap. But, this is really nice water for free - if you are willing to stand in line. I went on a light weekday and spent about 15 min in line. If you just want to fill up a small bottle, ask nicely and they may let you cut in. Most people are waiting to fill several large bottles. People are very serious about this place, so respect the process or be sorry. The water is nice, but not crazy nice. I noticed a stronger mineral taste from this well which makes sense as processing usually removes sediments and some minerals. It tastes similar to bottled spring water. They test the well for bacteria and basic quality so it is safe to drink. The facility is very basic with just two pipes and a small covered area. It can get wet and muddy, and there is no protection from the weather. If you live in the immediate area, the tap water is really close in taste to this well - not exactly the same, but similar. You will have to wait to get water at the well, so fill up and savor the difference.

Wow! I just had this for artesian water tonight for the first time during dinner and it was exquisite. It tastes better than any wine or beer I ever had and it makes perfect pairing with any steak or lobster. Be aware that obtaining this water requires immense patience as the line for the well could get long during peak times. There are people who do not respect the 20 gallon limit rule and comes with a truckload of empty bottles. Anyhow, I just discovered this place and I am in love.

Its a cultural with this well. There is an unwritten rule. Let tbe littlejar guysgo first be ki k n considerate

Innis Arden is not a gated community, something the abundant non-resident walkers, runners,…read morecyclists, and drivers passing through can attest to. It is a community with covenants and by-laws that seek to protect and preserve the land and nature of Innis Arden, yes there are even rules about cutting down/not cutting down trees. My family moved to Innis Arden in 1994, I lived here full-time until 2010, then intermittently 2010-2012, briefly again in 2015, returned full-time in October/November 2019 and am still living here. In total this comes out to a total of approximately 18 years of my almost 28.5 years of being alive that I have lived here in Innis Arden. Zoomed out, Innis Arden is a neighborhood in the City of Shoreline. This is not to be confused with the City of Seattle because as a registered voter living here in Innis Arden I am not given the right to vote for City of Seattle ballot items such as the Mayor of Seattle. The Innis Arden community has a pool that serves the residents of Innis Arden and their guests as well as people who live outside the community and attain membership. The waitlist to be a member at the pool can be long, something to keep in mind if interested in getting a pool membership. There is also a Tennis Club and a Clubhouse. The Clubhouse is the venue for the annual Rummage Sale. There is a trail system for residents of the Innis Arden community and their guests as well as a nature reserve. I love living here and the nature-centric lifestyle it entails. It brings joy to my life getting to be a steward to the Earth and its inhabitants, both human and non-human alike, especially when I can do so in the yard. The natural landscapes and wildlife Innis Arden has worked hard for decades to preserve is becoming scarcer in the City of Seattle. Living here for me provides a chance to fight for the little critters and big trees and everything in between as Seattle's urban sprawl continues to threaten much of the greenery in the eastern Puget Sound area.

Instead, there were a lot of people walking their dogs, couples getting some steps in, and even a family fishing at the lake off the pier. It seems you can catch largemouth bass and yellow perch. I felt pretty safe. There's a small paved parking lot with a bathroom before you enter the park. I didn't use the bathroom so can't say much about it. No graffiti as far as I noticed. There's also a picnic table and several benches around. Do note that this park is under renovations - the eastern third and the section where the Scriber Creek Trail runs through are now closed and there's a chain link fence with no tresspassing signs posted. One thing that is sort of unique is that they have a floating boardwalk on the lake/marshy areas which is pretty cool.

It is a fun place to explore, the trails were well maintained and one of the days I visited recently (on 19 June 2020) there were workers working on the trail near the big lake. I have seen a variety of wildlife here including bunnies, frogs/toads, crows, Herons, red-winged blackbirds, Cedar Waxwings, Belted Kingfishers, fish swimming in the water, Red Robins, gray squirrels, and other various birds. I even managed to see a Heron catch a big fish and fly off with it one time! On a second recent visit on 24 June 2020 amphibians stole the show. There is a second smaller lake accessible by the trail system that is closer to 196th Street. It has a sign explaining where the brown color of the lake comes from and what is causing the bubbles coming to the surface of the lakes. Noise from the nearby street carries into the park, though I found myself readjusting to tune it out so it didn't detract from the experience. There is a restroom building and picnic tables near the driving entrance/parking lots as well as benches dispersed throughout the park. In my experience the restrooms were spotless and very well maintained. This is a fun park to come walking and sit/stand and wait and enjoy the wildlife in and around Scriber Lake.

The biggest reason we keep coming back is my kids. They absolutely love it here. Out of all the arcades we've visited, this is their favorite, and they enjoyed it so much that they convinced me to sign up for the Platinum Membership two seasons in a row before I cancelled it for spring season. The arcade is fantastic, the atmosphere is fun, and it's one of the few places where the entire family can spend hours enjoying themselves. Also, you get 30% of your food with the platinum membership. The food is another bright spot. I usually order the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, which has consistently been good. My kids love the Goldfingers, cheese pizza, and fries. The food is reasonably priced, especially considering you're at an arcade and entertainment venue. Unfortunately, the service has been a recurring issue during multiple visits. On our most recent trip, we waited nearly two hours for a table for just two people, despite seeing plenty of open seating throughout the restaurant. That alone was frustrating. Even after being seated, the experience didn't improve much. We've had several visits where we sat down and waited an unusually long time before anyone came to take our order. It often feels like you're forgotten after being seated, and the overall attitude from some of the staff has come across as indifferent rather than welcoming. One experience in particular has stuck with me. Before I was even able to place an order, I was asked for my credit card. It caught me completely off guard because it wasn't presented as a standard policy or explained in any way. The interaction left me feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome, as if I was being viewed with suspicion before I had even ordered food. It's disappointing because the arcade, food, and atmosphere are genuinely great. If I were rating those alone, this would easily be a 4 or 5-star place. But after multiple service issues over multiple visits, I can only give it 2 stars. I hope management addresses the customer service side of the business because this location has so much potential.

I worked in Costumer Service for 30 years, and believe me it's HARD, especially during and after COVID. IMHO employees ACT like this under really bad mangers and management. Miserable employees treat customers with no kindness, no joy. My advice to management is FIX yourselves and the employee will follow. 'Nuf said!
