The only problem is that the organization that did the restoration, not Round Lake Marina, did not check the engine as they'd assure us they would. So here we are, with a beautiful, cosmetically restored boat, but the darn thing wouldn't start and if it did, it died randomly. Not the ideal situation for someone who doesn't know a motor from a steering wheel. Enter Round Lake Marina. Darrin, Rick and Aaron came to our rescue, gave the boat a nice little tune up at our dock and made sure "girls week" wasn't spent looking longingly at the lake. They've earned a customer for life starting now!!!

I booked Tom Boley last summer for a half day guide with my son. I called the week before to…read moreconfirm and all was good. I wanted to make sure he was meeting us at the resort so I called 2 days before our trip to confirm that but he never answered. I left a voice mail but it wasn't returned. I tried again the next day and the day of the planned trip, nothing. I asked the resort owner and he said that Tom should pick us up at the resort, as they normally do. Well, needless to say, he never showed. This guy is a joke and I'd never try to hire him again. I talked about the problem at 2 different resorts, just this weekend (May 2016), and they both said they don't recommend him anymore because not showing up seems to be his thing, they've had heard the same complaint from a bunch of people. I don't know how this guy stays in business but he's extremely unprofessional and a real jerk for not even calling to say he couldn't make it. If you need a guide, try Dan Seibert, Deano, Ty Sennett or a couple others but pass on Tom Boley.

Karen at Adventure Tours was a total rockstar in helping me get a tour booked. I came a bit early in the season and with my dog, so getting a date and a group willing to travel with a dog was a bit challenging. Karen was constantly communicating with me while I was up there trying to find a group for me to go out on the boat with. And she did! We'd been chatting back and forth while she was checking the best date for the weather, and we were able to have a wonderful tour! Captain Lauren was likewise a rockstar and our all-lady tour (except for my male pup) was a total blast. I love that this tour was in a smaller speedboat and there were only four of us plus dog plus Captain Lauren. We got to chat and mention things we might want to know and see, and Lauren was a trove of information and fun facts. We also were able to get closer to some of the cooler islands and rock formations than the huge commerical tour boats we saw further out in the water. We got to naviate inside some of the sea caves and look out at the big boats who couldn't fit or get this close. This was 100% the way to go for a water tour. I cannot recommend this option enough, and extra love for being dog friendly.
