About two weeks before his death, in his hospital bed in his home, he dictated this review of HPM, and specifically Dave Trudo. More than the words that he dictated, which were from the heart, the fact that he thought enough of Dave and his company to be concerned with making sure that this was done is testimony enough........this is what he asked me to post: Over the 24 years that I was in business, I had many insurance men called on me or come into my store. Some gave you the impression that all they wanted to do was make a quick sale. Others made an effort to feign interest in your business and your needs. The third type of person are not only interested in what you need, but also are truly interested in helping you prepare for the future with the things that are in your best interests. This is a very rare and exceptional person. In the time I was in business, there was only one that excelled in this manner- that man's name is Dave Trudo. On December of 2000, Dave called me and told me that there was something that my wife and I should consider. He wanted to meet with us because he felt it was very important and in my best interests. When he met with us, he was showed me a long term care policy. He said to me "Alec, the reason why I'm bringing this up is that this policy at this price will only be available to you for the next year or two. First of all, it is a lifetime guaranteed policy- if you wait two more years, you will pay as much, if not more for only a three year policy. So, I think it is in your interest to buy now and get the guaranteed lifetime policy." He went on to describe several other benefits. After explaining to me and my wife about the true value of this policy, we decided to sign up. It is now 14 years later and I never expected to have to use the policy, but cancer struck, almost totally disabling me. I have started using the policy and it is everything that Dave described. I would be seriously in debt to pay for the type of service that I'm getting from the policy. I can truly say that if someone else had come in and offered me the same policy, I probably never would have bought it. But knowing Dave, and knowing he has always been on my side, I bought the policy for both myself and my wife. I owe a great debt of gratitude to Dave for caring enough to give me this opportunity. My request was addressed by HPM, and while it was not a simple task to move up the start date (they had to issue me a new policy with the same coverage amounts and new start date), the representative who helped me through the process was extremely helpful and personable. She took care of every step of the process for me and responded to my questions very quickly, going out of her way and making me feel like I was really being put first. I just found out that I have been driving without Insurance for 3 weeks after being told on the day my policy was set to lapse, by an employee of Davis and Towle, that I was "all set." Due to the lapse in coverage on my policy, I now need to spend an extra $1000 on a six month policy that I would have never let lapse if Davis and Towle just informed me that I was not "all set." The manager I spoke with accepted no responsibility for my Insurance Agency not letting me know that my coverage lapsed. Here is a company that does not care, at all, about their customers. Stay away from this company if you want to work with an agency that makes sure your policies are in place for you. When my Insurance Agency tells me I am "All set," I expect to be contacted when they find out I am not all set, and they didn't do that. Buyer beware.

Geico won't even deal with your claim of a stolen car if a "tow company" tows it. A "tow driver" stole our car and even the police say it's stolen and Geico won't touch the claim simply because someone with a tow truck randomly targeted it and towed it 50+ miles away claiming they "found it" on public property and thought it shouldn't be there. (legally parked by the way) They also lie through their teeth. Twice they claimed the police didn't file the car as stolen. Both times the officer confirmed it was in the system. Wouldn't be surprised if they never actually checked and they think we're too stupid to figure that out. They are a joke.

That being said, I have very high standards for how an agent should treat their clients. I've trusted numerous relatives of mine with Nick and he's always been a true professional. Our most recent interaction was for the sale of my aunt's house in Leominster. It was an emotional sale of a home that has been in the family for 50+ years. We interviewed 3 agents for the listing, and much to our surprise, we got very different opinions on what the house was worth. They ranged from 200-250k. Nick was confident that he could sell the home for 250k and he was right! They had multiple offers after about a week on the market, over asking price. If we'd gone with one of the other very reputable agents, we would have left 40-50k on the table for her. Nick is quick to respond, extremely knowledgable of the market, and experienced with investment properties. He's also one of the most laid back, non pushy agents I've ever met. I couldn't recommend him more!!
