This is a nice park and it takes up about a city block. Quite a few people were walking or walking…read moretheir dogs, many more than usual during the day because of COVID-19. There were people reading, picnicking, etc. Honestly, it was a slightly chilly day, but people were enjoying the fresh air. Since the last time I was here they've put in a volleyball area. They've also put up tape so that people can't play on the playground equipment, because COVID-19 can live on playground equipment for up to 3 hours, or so it is believed. It's too bad that it takes a pandemic for people to get out to the park. It's wonderful to see the world restoring itself so quickly as people drive less and tax the world less. I heard so many more birds than normal. That's the silver lining in the pandemic.

It serves as a community gathering space connecting the historic Original Mile neighborhood to commercial areas. There is a splash pad, playground, dog park and a food truck area. There is a pavilion shaped like an air plane hangar since the Air Force Base is just across the road. It's a very nice and well kept space.

It was very nice walking the path in the morning. There were a couple other people up early as well. The path was fairly clean, although we did pass an area where someone threw at least 4 used diapers on the ground instead of walking 40 feet to the trash can. There is not any shade at this walking/ biking path, so bring some sunblock, wear sunglasses, and wear a hat. There are lots of birds and animals to see. We saw some sort of mongoose looking animal that was super cute to watch. He has brown fur and was long and skinny. He was jumping from rock to rock at the lighthouse area. There's a lot of restaurants near the parking area we were at.
