We debated on using Tomlinson Bomberger this year for 2024 lawn care as the service jumped its price. We were assured by customer service that dropping down to Basic level (still $400+per season) would still get us a great result. Our lawn is a disaster. Patchy, brown, diseased and in stark contrast to our neighbors grass which directly abuts ours. They tried one "treatment" and then informed us it was 1) because we only purchased Basic plan and 2) for an extra $300 they would aerate and re-seed! I cannot recommend this local company (sadly). I moved into a new home in Akron this past January and was looking for a quality pest control company. I read the reviews on Tomlinson Bomberger and decided to give them a try. I was not disappointed. The quarterly cost was reasonable and the staff showed for the first appointment promptly. Both staff members I have dealt with - Logan and Tanner - were knowledgable and very willing to explain what they were doing and how the treatments worked. I signed up for quarterly visits and was told I could call in between these visits if a problem arose. I noticed ants in the house before the next quarterly visit and they were right out at my house when I called. I receive plenty of notice of the quarterly visit appointments, office staff is accommodating and you can pay your invoice online. I would highly recommend this company. read more

Tombom destroyed my front lawn. I had issues with a thin front lawn for years after building our house. I decided to get someone to help me with it. I came across tombom online and decided to have them come out. They sent a soil sample to penn state to get analyzed. Based on the results, they suggest a plan to get my lawn thick and green. They seemed very professional and motivated to help me so we started a year long plan that included approx 5 different treatments per year. I'm a few years in, and their last treatment destroyed my lawn to the point where it looks as bad as when they first started. I was told that it was due to poor weather. Hot, humid, with lots of rain. That all suposedly started to causes a fungus to start growing. What's funny is that my back yard, which they don't treat is green with no brown spots. Oh, and the top part of my front lawn that gets shade has barely any brown spots. My neighbors all have nice lawns with no brown spots and they don't have anyone treat their lawns. I spoke with tombom and told them all this. All they did was send out an email telling me the same thing, and wanting me to pay more to spray fungicide on the lawn. They also suggest aerating and seeding the lawn. So I pay them hundreds over the years, and they want more to fix it. Which I'm sure they will make even worse. Whats funny is that after they treated the lawn a few weeks ago, we had extremely hot weather, and that is when we noticed the dying grass. They also put some form of soap foam on the lawn, which I was told was for marketing reasons, and that it absolutely does not hurt the grass. What's funny is that everywhere their was big areas of soap foam is where the worst browning is. They refused to listen. All the lady would do is transfer me to a lawn specialist supervisor. Not surprising to me, it went to voice-mail and I haven't heard back yet. I'm posting 2 pics so that you can see what I'm talking about. One is of my backyard which isn't treated due to having dogs​, and the front yard which has been treated for years by tombom. You can see for yourself that they screwed my yard up. read more

I decided to have my maple tree sprayed for lantern flies this year. It's expensive and I have more lantern flies on my tree than anyone else in the neighborhood. No exaggeration there are hundreds of flies on the tree. I called Tomlinson Bomberger and they pretty much said "too bad, nothing we will do". DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON YHIS SERVICE! read more

Not very creative with landscape design. New subdivision and every home has pretty much exact same plants/shrubs. In our case, half of the shrubs died after the first year. Way too much money for what they offer. Don't recommend. If you need landscaper, keep looking. read more

We had them for tree and lawn service. Within 2 years, 5 of our 7 trees had to be replaced because they either died or very poor shapes. The following year three more died which they will not replace. They were aware of a water problem in our yard but failed to make recommendations of which trees to plant there. We cancelled their lawn service after we saw more grass growing in our mulch than yard after reseeding. We learned dealing with Tomlinson, pay a little more for better service and trees. read more

The 1st time I used them they did a great job. I had 2 large trees injected for Ash Bore. Two years later I paid over $900.00 to treat them again. I paid for them to be injected however they did not do what I paid for. All I got was a product spread on top of the ground. Needless to say this did not work. Call & complained several times. They came back & sprayed the tree trunk. Did not work. This spring me trees looked REALLY, REALLY BAD. So I called someone else to inject them. I was told one of them might not make it, we will see by next spring. Bottom line DO NOT trust them to do what you paid for. read more

We've used Tomlinson Bomberger quite a few times over the past ten years and were always pleased with their work until the recent job they performed for us. I'm not sure what changed within the company but it seems the quality of the work has deteriorated. We were disappointed with the work that was recently performed. They seemed to rush and did return to improve the work but it still wasn't up to the high standard that we have experienced in the past. Bob K. - we miss you. I wish I saw the previous review before we signed on with TomBom for our lawn last fall. We had them landscape our yard, that was fine. However, we also had them seed our lawn. For the first few months it looked good. Almost year later though, our lawn is DEAD. When I contacted my concern to the rep, the reply was the same "Fungus....weather....wait it out" Our neighbors' lawn experience the same weather conditions and their lawns look fine. I'm so disappointed with how bad it looks. Not to mention, I had TomBom mow, edge, & prune my parents' yard. The job was poor. Edging was not clean with clumps of lawn left on the yard. The mow job left lawn clippings everything. And more......I would not recommend TomBom again. **Thank you for having the manager come by to offer and improve the service. In the fall we had weeds, some settling spots and a few drainage spots that needed attention around our pool so we called several landscape companies. We went with Tomlinson Bomberger because we were familiar with the company even though they were considerably more expensive. They told us it was too late to plant in the fall but they would come out as soon as they could. They said we should have a good lawn by the time we opened the pool in May, so we gave them a $1,000 deposit to ensure we were first in line. When the weather started to improve, we called because we had not heard from them. After several attempts, we finally heard back and they came out and did the work on March 12th. Unfortunately, we made the mistake of paying them the remainder of the money because we believed things were done correctly. They were not. By early May, after several weeks of following their detailed instructions, our yard was mostly weed, very little growth and the drainage spots were no better than they had been. We left several messages for the sales rep with no response. When we finally heard back, we were told they were too busy with new customers to help us right away. What? We paid them to do a job, they didn't do the job but took the money. So I called the owner. He was polite and apologetic, said not to worry about the weeds, and got a crew out there on May 12. They added more topsoil and more seeds. Now, almost June, and there are still bare spots and weeds everywhere. We can't use the pool during quarantine because we don't want to walk on what little grass there is around the pool for fear we will make it worse. They talked about selling us a plan to treat the lawn but we never heard back from them on this. Incidentally, our neighbors had their lawn regraded/reseeded by another company in mid-April and their lawn looks great. We strongly recommend you do not use Tomlinson Bomberger and if you do, make sure you do not pay them until you are satisfied with the results. read more

I am not sure what has happened. Last season we were satisfied with the service we received. Something has changed. This year was terrible. And it wasn't due to the fungus disease that spread this season as they quickly give as an excuse. The service always came after the fact, and I couldn't tell when they were there. Our lawn looked worse than people around us who did nothing to their lawns. And each time I called, it was always the same thing "not in your plan but for X-hundred dollars more, we can come back for another treatment" We did a pre-paid thing this season and so I always got the impression of "we got your money in full so you are last on our priority list". Like I said--not sure what has changed, but there was a definite difference in service and customer service this year. read more

Had a salesperson out to give an estimate more than two weeks ago.... never heard back.... left messages, non returned. I guess when you are a big company the small jobs get pushed back, but is no excuse to not call the customer!! I should have written this review several years ago. Wanted to and kept forgetting. They had thinned some of our shade trees which was fine. But then after that I called and asked to have a younger tree cut down completely. The tree might have been 10 years old at that point but because of where it was planted was not growing as well as it should have been. The trunk might have been only five inches in diameter. The woman came out to look at it and decide how much it would cost. When I pointed out the tree she said she would figure out the cost and send us the estimate via the mail. I watched her from the house and she stood in the driveway a long time just looking at the tree. Not sure if she was counting the number of branches or what. I was floored after we received the estimate in the mail. It was for over $300.00! For a small tree. I called a tree service company in Brownstown then, he came out and looked at it and told me right away he could do it for $50.00. But he said since it would be a small job it might take a while till he got to it. However he came just a few days later with one other man, said they could quickly do it before another job. Within less than 30 minutes, they had the tree down and had run branches and trunk through their grinder. Bombergers is way overpriced for their services. read more

Contracted with TB for lawn mowing and weed treatment. Lawn-mowing price seemed quite steep ($50 for a 10 minute job) but needed the coverage quick cause regular canceled. Weed treatment also not cheap. Then asked for mosquito treatment for a party, agreed on date, and day before agreed on date, was told they couldn't come until following week, which was far too late to be of use. They're not the worst service I've ever had, but you can get far better. read more

Listened to the service guy they sent and now have a worse problem than before! Let me back up. Called to have evergreens sprayed for bag worms when I noticed a middle tree starting to brown in a row of evergreens we use as a privacy fence. I saw large bags hanging so told them I needs sprayed for bag worms. The tech came out, looked at the trees and told me there is no activity and the brown is just heat damage. He told me to get a attachment for my hose and soak the tree each day. I have been doing that and the tree gets worse and worse. I finally climbed behind the pond myself and take a good look. There are hundreds of little worms going to town on the leaves. At this point the tree is beyond repair. I should have never listened and am extremely upset that I call for service, they do not do it and in fact tell me to wait and now it will cost much more to replace a evergreen than it would have to save it. I can not believe the tech did not know what he is doing and have even taken a video of the little worms and wish I could post that as well. read more

MY EXPERIENCE IS this company doesn't care about anything but getting paid - whether the job is done right or done at all. Hired for pest control and now the whole house is infested. Hired for lawn care and they never showed up. Still waiting for refund. Would only recommend them to my worst enemy. They are also rude and if you are a woman, condescending.
