They could benefit from a bit more banana or fresh fruit to balance out the stack, especially given the size of the dish. The English breakfast was excellent, well-cooked and satisfying, and the side of chorizo stood out as particularly flavorful. Coffee was genuinely perfect, easily one of the highlights of the meal. The overall vibe is a classic European café style, relaxed and comfortable, good for a casual sit-down breakfast or brunch. One important note: this is not a place for traditional Spanish food. If you are looking for local Catalan or Spanish breakfast or tapas, this will feel more international than authentic. Overall, strong for coffee and comfort food, but not aligned with a traditional Barcelona culinary experience.good service and free WiFi

The seating space was small and there was one staff behind the bar and the other staff serving all the tables so service took a bit but our server was helpful and as attentive as possible considering he was covering the entire restaurant. I got the English breakfast and enjoyed the sausage, bacon, and potatoes alot. My friend got the Dutch stack pancakes and said they were a tasty and savory breakfast. We both got brunch cocktails and caffeine and really enjoyed our leisurely Barcelona Brunch. I'd definitely come back and try something else.

Bernie's is one of the better options located near the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona. But it really is only one of the better ones because a lot of other "American" establishments are bad. You really make due with what you have. Their milkshakes are good. Nice and creamy but not too heavy. I had the chocolate milkshake and was a fan. My GF had their strawberry cheesecake milkshake and it was good, but tasted more like just strawberry than strawberry cheesecake. T-bone steak tasted similar to a decent american diner and it hit the spot. Their ribs are absolutely horrible though. They were overcooked, dry, bland, and slathered in a bad BBQ sauce. Do come if you miss home, but don't come expecting an amazing meal.

We couldn't eat it. - The fries were as bland as fries can be. No seasoning, and like rubber. - The patatas bravas were literally just plain steak fries. Also no seasoning but most importantly no bravas sauce or aioli. - The banana milkshake was mostly milk. Vanilla wasn't bad. - Banana split was pretty good, but it's hard to mess up scoops of ice cream and toppings. The woman who took my order wasn't rude by any means, but she was cold and almost seemed bothered to be dealing with an American even though I spoke mostly in Spanish. If you're really desperate for American food in Barcelona, I guess you can find worse, but if you have time, I'd go elsewhere. For what it's worth, the atmosphere was cool. Good music and aesthetic. Place was clean.

In fact, if you watch Rick Steve's clips on this Mercat, he spends time at El Quim and that's one of the reasons I decided to select the sautéed baby squid with sunnyside eggs - that's just incredible. Rick's advice is golden for me, he's on target like 99.9% of the time. Of course, the gambas and the oxtail with potatoes are also very popular so we ordered those as well. The oxtail meat was so tender and the sauce was perfect for sopping up with the complimentary bread. Make sure to have some white wine and sangria - it'll highly complement your meal. The service was friendly but brisk, there's often a long line for seats but we got seated immediately. Not too much of a language barrier and one of the employees spoke Filipino so we were good. The atmosphere is lively and energetic, with chefs cooking everything fresh right in front of you while the market buzzes around you. Since seating is limited, it's worth arriving a little before the lunch rush if you want to avoid a long wait. The food is fresh and simple. We ordered the "Patatas Bravas", "Gambas al Ajillo", "Salteado de Chipirones (Baby Squid Sauté)", and "Rabo de Toro Estofado", and every dish was full of flavor and prepared with high-quality ingredients. Watching the chefs cook just a few feet away made the experience even more enjoyable.

This is definitely a great spot for anyone into American beer hall vibes while in Barcelona - plenty of seating and TV's throughout to watch games or other things. You order up at the counter, and we just got a pitcher of beer when we went later at night, as the food service had ended. I do kind of wish we could've had the chance to still get some food, as other tables that had some from earlier looked really tasty. Nevertheless, the vibes were great and the beers hit the spot here. What more can I say?! It was bright, airy, and comfortable inside - perfect for hanging out! I think this is a great option - especially for American tourists, but also for just anyone that wants to have a spot that's chill and fun to hang out at. I definitely recommend!

The beer selection is vast and great, I've enjoyed their wheat beer, as well as lagers. The wings are good too, my favs were garlic Parmesan, buffalo & buffalo mild. I love that they offer free water lol This is a great place for groups of about 4-8 anything more and you may not be able to fit on the same table. It's a fun pregame place, and I recommend it.
