The negative I experienced here today was with a local older man who pretended to be shopping but was not. He had no cart but made his way around the store more or less following me and stopping to stare at me. I noticed him shortly after I entered the store and noticed he wasn't buying anything. I checked out and walked out to my vehicle. Soon as I was getting to leave he was leaving at the same time and drove right in front of me so I would see him. So if anyone else has experienced this here or knows what this could of been please let me know. Otherwise, this town and/or store has some kind of problem.

They have basically everything from Swedish fish to club soda to bacon to those potato chips that you forgot you loved because you couldn't find them anymore !! I have even purchased bug candles and gloves since there is a nice hardware section in the store too. If you can't find what you are looking for - ASK they probably have it. Pick up a newspaper or magazine for the road or fill up your tank too while you are there. I love the ice cream and frozen pizza selection at the cashier. It's nice to know there is a store nearby if you forgot something. Parking is a breeze too in front or there is a little lot on the side where the gas pumps are. I love going and just walking around - pick up some beef jerky etc. I can't think of anything they "don't" have. The only downside is that they aren't open all the time or late even. I have driven there and they were closed in the past.. Cash is recommended since there is a $.50 swipe fee for credit card purchases. Their different flavored things are truly creative. The place itself is always clean and the service is always top notch. Any time we visit the area, this is where we get any and all of our meats from. Offering fresh deli meats and cheeses, when there is nothing else around and you don't feel like travelling far to grab a necessity like a meat or cheese. However, unless you are visiting or on vacation I doubt you would make it here anytime soon. It gives vacation vibes, a shop that you would step into to grab a cute souvenir or something to take as a gift. Prices, to me they are steep. But if you are willing to pay, go right ahead. They do have some great things, but a lot of it appears to be mass produced, even the prepackaged items that aren't fresh meat or cheese. It was worth the visit, but you kind of feel like you are in the wrong spot at first. This is part of a working farm, however it also feels like you are pulling into a family's home. The only giveaways that this is a working store is the sign and when you finally approach the door.

AJ was demonstrating how they butcher, cure and cut bacon and other varieties of meat. It was interesting to learn about the process. So, we decided to visit the store which is about an hour away from us. When we arrived, we recognized AJ from the show. We introduced ourselves. He was incredibly friendly and offered to take us on a tour of the facility. He introduced us to his Dad and Mom and they were as personable as AJ. Family pride in their business was so apparent. In the store, he explained the different flavors of bacon and hotdogs and all his other products. We had a very hard time limiting our purchases. We only brought a small cooler. The "Son of a Butcher" is in its second season of episodes. The meat selection is excellent. But take a big cooler! It's hard to resist all of the interesting products they have.

We'd been hearing about the son AJ's dive in to raising grass-fed beef. It's magnificent. We grab two packages of filet mignon on the way out of town Monday. Cooked Tuesday for dinner. Cast iron pan lightly seared with olive oil, salt and pepper. That's all it needed. Melt in your mouth delicious. I have a client who gives me a Ruths Chris gift certificate every Christmas, so I am pretty familiar with their menu. It's a good meal. Honestly, they use so much butter I feel I taste more butter than beef. AJ's grass fed beef tastes like beef. I had about 3 ounces leftover and sliced it, warmed it just a bit and had it with a spinach salad today. So good. There's plenty of other unique and quality grocery items on the shelves that I doubt you'll find in Giant Eagle or Riverside. Very nice.
